A to Z Grocery and Chinese Food reminded me of the family owned establishments I'd visit when abroad. What to expect: A small hole in the wall place with everything you need, even a slot machine in the back. The place had a steady stream of people coming in to get whatever they needed from cigarettes to chips and baking soda. They even make "American Food" hamburgers, fries, etc. This was straight up in the middle of nowhere, and looked kinda busted from outside. Okaaaay, I'm down 100%! We walked in to two white folding tables in the center of a small "everything" market. I knew I was in the right place. I asked the young man at the checkout counter, "are you still serving food?" It was 15 minutes before closing. Yes! I ordered the sweet & sour chicken and Crab Rangoons. (Safe rarely disappointing meal.) 2 minutes later I hear the fryer in the back being slayed over. Noice! Cooked to order. I asked if they had any rooster sauce for sale - my mission to find some after they factory stopped making it over a year ago is real. #facts The young man didn't know what rooster sauce was, but his family member came out with a BIG jar and knew what I was referring to. Those who know, KNOW! HIM:"They don't sell this anymore" ME: "I know!" None for sale, but they gave me a to-go cup full. Awe, how nice! Excuse the pictures as they are not the best and does not do the food justice. This yelp review and food picture as an after thought. My husband was like "hey babe, you want the best chicken biscuit ever? NO! I proclaimed because I'm not a huge breakfast person much less a chicken biscuit I can get from Chick-fil-A or even Bojangles. He goes on and on about how one of his buddies introduce him to it and blah blah blah. I said fine. Just get me one. He walked into the car with two. One chicken and one steak wrap in aluminum foil. Nothing fancy, nothing amazing. I looked at it to examine the "best chicken biscuit". Okay, I thought...homemade biscuits. It's not overly flaky. It's not overly buttery. When I do eat a biscuit, I like it soft pillowy and flaky dripping in butter. Despite all this, I'm still impressed at the biscuit. I still haven't taken my first bite. I'm still examining it. The country fried steak was huge. The fried chicken breast was crunchy and fresh. I finally decided to take a bite. I felt the sun beamed on my face. I was like WOW! Product variety is awesome as they really have a great selection for a convenience store. Prices might be a tad bit higher, but that's the convenience. You don't have to go all the way into town for what you need. The staff is VERY professional, efficient and friendly. The interpersonal communication, understanding of cultural diversity and the maintenance of a great attitude shown by Mr. Reagen, makes it a pleasure to shop there.
