They buy discounted, damaged and liquidated stuff like food, clothes, appliances, electronics. They also have many things like you would find at a dollar store like toys, jewelry, food storage containers, tools and random decor. Wander around the store and you'll likely find a few cool things often for a great deal. And they have additional sales sometimes too like 20% or 30% off. I don't know how often, but I have caught sales several times over the past couple of summers. Give it a look! Just don't be competition, please. Save me some.

The trick is to go often as they get new merchandise daily. There's times I go multiple times a week and rarely leave with nothing. You'll find things you didn't even know you needed! I also follow them on Facebook where they'll post newer big items they've received. Just recently I've seen treadmills, mattress and box spring sets, and couches!! They've also started an online store, but I prefer to shop in person. I will say though when they first started their online store they had iPads for sale! I'm sure these are few and far between but again just like their stores check often!

It has dollar stuff and its kind if like a resale shop, too, with clothes, shoes and childrens toys, crafts and yarn, office supplies, etc. I've included a few pictures to give you an idea. It's kind if like ak old fashioned five and dime, now that I think about it. I enjoyed looking around and bought a couple of small skeins of lavender yarn. I think the store would be a regular spot for the locals.

This is a great place to get discounted foods that may be slightly past their "best buy" date or…read moremay have some damage to the packaging. Yes you need to be a little more careful here than at a traditional grocery store but a quick Google search will show you that dates on grocery items are based on freshness not safety. I've shopped here for years (and at similar Amish grocery discount stores in Pennsylvania) and never had any problems. It's a win-win: good for my budget and I feel like I'm playing a part in reducing food waste. (If you want an eye opening documentary about this issue, see the movie Just Eat It.) P.S. Here's a direct quote from the USDA's webpage on food product dating: "Manufacturers provide dating to help consumers and retailers decide when food is of best quality. Except for infant formula, dates are not an indicator of the product's safety and are not required by Federal law."

Well, some boxes are dented and I noticed all of the vegan mayonnaise was expired by a few months and some of the sauces were also past their prime. So keep an eye on the packaging. The most interesting offerings are certainly the Amish-made cheeses, dry foods, and preserves. Cheese can be expensive, but you can get a great cheese at a very decent price here. I tried smoked swiss and smoked hot pepper; both were excellent. They also have some good quality produce here and there. The people working there were keeping busy but they were nice... and yes, they take cards!
