I've been shopping at Frys ever since moving here in 2004. I've learned when the best times are to…read morecome here to avoid the crowds. I have a loyalty card, which helps me save 10-40 cents a gallon of gas when I tank up. Shop before 8am or after 8pm. Avoid the first Wednesday of the month as that is when retirees flood the store for their 10% discount. The deli isn't stocked until 10:30, and no baked chicken until later. I do like their deli offerings. Best deals for that is late afternoon. I find their meats and chicken cheaper here than Safeway. Always check the ads. They often have unannounced specials. The aisles are wide enough for two carts to move through. It can get crowded in the vegetable aisles, though. I wasn't crazy about the company switching to self-check lanes. I prefer a large load to be checked by an employee, rather than me being watched by a high schooler. There are usually two lanes with employees for that, but they can get long. Parking is plentiful.

I've applied for cashier position on two occasions in recent months. I am told by the actual store…read moremanager to "please apply yes yes yes we are hiring". Then I'm told by another manager they're not hiring when I called to follow up on both occasions. So unprofessional! Then I get an email from corporate saying they've gone with another candidate. Why would they go with another candidate if they weren't hiring? If you're looking for a job, do not bother with this store, you will only experience disappointment. I've shopped Kroger stores for 20+ years, this Kroger store is an insult to the brand. I have experienced the self check out areas to be quite dirty, especially the platform area. I've worked in the cashier realm for over 30 years, it is quite easy to keep up with cleaning those areas at least hourly during the peak hours. It's just NASTY, as well as quite unhealthy for everyone! I mean DUH!

I used to be a Target shopper when I was in college last century. Back then the name was pronounced…read moreTarJAY. K-Mart ruled the retail shops and Walmart was only in the South. But now I'm in the Southwest and the Target store in town sits near a major intersection looking neglected. There are always cars in the parking lot but most of them are for the Pizza Hut and Starbucks near the front entrance. I stopped by this place, finally, two days ago after work. I was looking for a cellphone rack to place in the classroom. Walmart didn't sell it and I came here. (Target didn't have one, either.) And then I remembered why I don't shop here anymore: there aren't any employees in the aisles! In fact, there were few people in the store and the largest crowd was at the pharmacy. Most of the employees were standing guard watching customers self-check out. Another reason why I won't shop here again (at least during the school year): most of the people inside the store were teenagers just walking the aisles looking at stuff. One teen recognized me and then two more. Next time I go to this store I'll wear a full-face mask and wig. I will add that the shopping cart I had rolled along flawlessly and the floors were clean and shiny.

The store has easily accessible parking, it's clean, and spacious. I wouldn't say a lot of items are worth the price when you can get the same branded items at other corporate chains, but I found a tote I needed at a reasonable price. Something I really thought was cool though is that their mascot (Bulleye) is now branded onto some merchandise, including as infant toys. No lanes were open besides self checkout, but the cashier running the self checkouts was friendly and social. I have mixed feelings about whether I'd recommend this place. As a store, it's better than most, but with the political climate and boycotts happening, that's really up to the customers to decide whether this is for them. It's on the pricier side anyway, and there really isn't much in the way of fashionable clothing for women that doesn't throw me all the way back to the early 00's. If you're seeking pet supplies like litter or food, you're better off going to Walmart, Frys, or anywhere else with ads and lower prices. Not a bad experience though. The book section, as always, is still pretty awesome.

For the people, the staff and employees, at this Safeway, out of five stars I would award at least…read more10! As is the norm in Cochise County, the people are friendly, gracious, helpful, and even efficient. But prices? It is possible this grocery is the most expensive in at least Sierra Vista. However, the variety of products is probably larger than any other grocery, the quality is as high as or higher than any other grocery. And the various Safeway brands are as good as or better than possibly more-famous brands -- and usually cost less. And that's the way to shop at Safeway: read the advertisements, including the e-mails (yes, do sign up) and the weekly flyers sent out by the local paper (they usually arrive on Tuesdays), note the sale items, and, above all, hunt for the marked-down items. (There are two separate shelves in the back right-hand corner, one for just pet items!) As you peruse the aisles and shelves, watch for "close-out" and "discontinued" signs and stock up if you can. I will shop here as often as I can because I know of no other store that carries daikon radishes. Oh, this store has a nice section of allegedly organic produce, and Safeway carries a large number of O organic (house brand) products. I don't consider that very important but I know a lot of people who do, and they will appreciate this choice and, most likely, also be able to afford the organic items. There is a deli department where one can buy some nice, and even very nice, sub-type sandwiches. At reasonable but not bargain prices. But also available there is some delicious chicken. The roasted chicken was marked 'way down when I was there last and the very nice guy working urged me to try the fried next time. He even bragged about it! (It's so good to hear employees, at any and any kind of store, proud of what they're selling.) In particular he compared it to a specialty restaurant, and actually contrasted his product and especially its price to that restaurant. So, OK, next time I will try the fried. The roasted really was deeeelicious! The nearest to a complaint I have is that the aisles are too narrow. Two carts can pass each other, but just barely. And when the oblivious or unthinking customers park in the middle while perusing the shelves, it's bothersome. However, since the people of Cochise County are the nicest in these United States, as soon as they see someone trying to get by, they usually quickly move over and even apologize. (Nicest! Honest.) Oh, one other possible complaint: In the soda department, there are almost no diet flavors. Maybe if enough people mention it, as eager as are the personnel of this store to be helpful, the corporate bosses will wake up and stock the diet flavors. The Refreshe brand is as good as any, in my opinion. As I said, I'll go back. The employees alone are enough to get me to return.
