It was a sight to behold. But believe it or not it actually was not horrible. There was a women calling out open lanes. We moved at a decent speed. I waited no more than 15 minutes. All the patrons were jovial to each other as they waited in line. Being the holiday and time of day I think helped people understand it was going to be an event. We went in to pick up a prescription at the pharmacy and check out some of the Legos for holiday gifts. We were pleasantly surprised with the selection they had and the price ranges ($7-$130 kits). We left with a Super Mario Pirhana Plant lego kit for an adult ($60) and a 3-1 kit for a child that makes an larger axolotl, a flamingo, & parrot ($30). They had tons of Star Wars build options, cars, futurama, the one piece build, and Harry Potter stuff.

We were expecting severe storms today so lots of people were stocking up when the tornado sirens started earlier than expected. They announced that anyone who wanted to stay in the store should join the crew in the basement to be safe. They guided us all calmly to their basement/storage/employee break area with smiles, lots of snacks, bottled water, and even flowers for moms with their babies! They made sure everyone was comfortable and had a place to sit down. I felt so safe and so taken care of! Once we were cleared to go back upstairs, everyone was as helpful as ever and the crew even walked folks out to their cars with umbrellas in the pouring rain. If everyone treated each other like this team treated a bunch of strangers, the world would be a better place. Thank you to everyone who was working this afternoon for restoring my faith in humanity!

With the dedication to fresh items- what do they do with day-old items, they end up here. I also check the day-old bread and other items shelves. I have found some interesting grabs. Usually this bargain aisle is marked-down with new bar-codes to make it easier to check out, but sometimes they just mark it down with markers and a cashier has to find the price. Bonus- finding standard items marked down like Arizona Tea or different pizzas that I can buy in bulk. This is a good chain store to buy produce, meat and seafood go the freshness.

On the other hand, it is a dark store - the darkest Schnucks I've been in - it has a very small (and not very good looking) selection of produce, and even though I made 2 passes around the store I could never find bacon! Actually, I did find the good bacon at their little butcher counter, but it was kind of dark looking and I wasn't about I try that! The rest of the meats looked great, but I wonder why there is no tenderloin, filets, or Angus to choose from. The produce was shabby, embarrassingly so. The onions were all smooshy and yucky looking with fruit flies all over and around them, the fresh corn was dried out, and the fresh green beans were browning. This Schnucks needs work! Until then, I will not be coming back.
