Tiger Mart #80 - Some TigerMart scenes. What a beautiful drive!!

TigerMart is hands-down one of my favorite gas stations (especially this one) everything about it…read morejust makes sense. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, the shelves are stocked with literally everything I could ever need, and the whole place is clean and well-organized. Whether I'm stopping by for a quick snack, a drink, or just passing through, it always feels welcoming. I also have to give a huge shoutout to the restrooms: they are actually spotless, which is rare for most gas stations. You can tell they take pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable for customers, and that makes a big difference. Honestly, I never leave disappointed. Definitely a solid 5-star review from me. TigerMart is the place to go!! Forget Buc-ee's, TIGERMART IS WHERE ITS AT!!

It's not often I feel compelled to write a review for a gas station, but I just kept noticing great…read morethings about this place. For one, when I walked into the bathroom, it smelled--wait for it--NICE. It smelled clean and lovely, like a nice natural cleaner that costs extra because it won't singe your eyelashes while you're cleaning. The next thing I noticed was the Sonic inside. Y'all know Sonic normally takes three times as long as you imagine it should to fry up some frozen food and put some soda into a cup. But this Sonic? This is the fastest Sonic I have ever experienced. And the cashier was sweet. I'm pretty confused overall. Maybe we visited during some freak Twilight Zone situation. Maybe they hired new people who haven't yet sunk into desperation and boredom. I can't explain it, but I was sure to bookmark it for the next time we are coming home from Tyler and need a place for gas.

Dismayed Today, when…read morecalling Mabank Family Pharmacy to check on my Thyroid medication, I was informed that they denied my prescription because "they would lose too much money if they filled it." I was then advised to "just call around to see if someone else will fill it, because they aren't going to." I'm a strong believer in supporting local businesses. My husband, family and friends all use Mabank Family Pharmacy. (Though, as of today, my husband will no longer) This decision was made not by them simply denying my prescription, but by the way it was handled and how they went about it. Instead of further discussing this concern, and maybe as a courtesy filling my prescription this one time and letting me know that moving forward they won't be able to, due to the cost, they instead denied my medication that I critically need without any disregard to my health. I find it ironic, that on their website it states "We go above and beyond to make sure our community is taken care of the same way we would treat our own family." It's hard to believe that they would in fact treat their own family members this way.

Very dismayed by the service and value here. My family has used this pharmacy for three…read moregenerations. Recently, we have had to move my mother's, my wife's and my own prescriptions to other pharmacies. I spoke to the owner yesterday to express my dissatisfaction. Some of his comments, "we aren't a charity, we are for profit," 'we don't price match on controlled substances because because there is a high problem across the county with drug abuse," and "higher quality costs more." Regarding his comment about controlled substances, this is a large part of why people turn to illegal drugs. I've had a family member (in another state) who had an injury and was put on Percocet. When she couldn't afford the high cost, she turned to crack. Regarding the cost vs quality comment, we have had multiple prescriptions which we were told were ready, only to go pick up a small portion (3 of 90) and then have to return another day. Having to make two trips for the same rx doesn't feel like quality service to me. They also refuse to take GoodRX because while we, the customer gets to pay less, he said the pharmacy actually gets a bill for additional costs ($5). Their Facebook page says "While others choose conglomerates, we believe in the power of local. Because you're not just a customer to us, you're our neighbor, our friend, and part of our pharmacy family. At Mabank Family Pharmacy, we pride ourselves on our unrivaled customer service and understanding your unique needs. We've been serving this town longer than any chain store, and we plan on keeping it that way!" We sure don't feel like friends or family by having poor service and to have to pay more. Unrivaled customer service isn't making us make multiple trips or paying more. And lastly, at least the conglomerates can fill entire prescriptions and don't gouge prices as much as this "family" pharmacy.

A little while ago, I wrote a review of Hyde's Country Store which is called "The Phalba Store" by…read moreall the locals. It's actually the same place. It's off Hwy 175 & exit left on Hwy 198. It's about 15 miles from Cedar Creek Lake & actually closer to Purtis Creek Lake State Park. So, if a Yelper is looking for it under The "Phalba Store" name, here's my updated review for it. Hubby & I headed out to see a good friend's new house & we were looking forward to grabbing a delicious Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries at The Phalba Store. Man, this has to be one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I've ever eaten! I'm a sucker for Crinkle Fries, too. The store is so clean and welcoming. It's decorated with red booths and chairs, antique farming equipment & tools , old fishing rods & lures, old Barlow & Case Pocket Knives with Old Gunsmoke TV Shows playing on the Huge Flat Screen. There's also an old 70's Pin Ball Machine in the corner. I like it! The store carries minimal groceries, Bread, Mustard, Mayo., Pickles, Chips, Cookies, Candy, Paper Towels, TP, Cleaning Supplies, Cold Drinks, Ice, Tylenol, Advil...etc. It's all fresh and the store only carries @ 5-10 loaves Bread, packages of Cookies, & Bags of Chips, at a time. That way the food stays fresh. The Phalba Store also sells Local Seasonal Vegetables......cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, etc., all very reasonably priced. The Shinning Star to me is their Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries! I hope The Phalba Store will continue to stay open for many years to come. It's a great little Stop if you're ever out that way. Super nice folks!
