There were so many firemen and policemen serving the meals, and were so helpful and friendly...all wearing smiles and made us feel they really WANTED to be there that day! The place is practically on the Mississippi River on the Il side across from Clinton Ia were I was hanging out. The place really sticks out from the neighborhood because it's red and black against a pale back drop. The place was smaller than it looked but it was packed with goodies from fresh meats, cheeses, sausages etc with a frozen side filled with homemade and not homemade items to cook at home. One thing that I always look for is the homemade meat sticks and anything jalapeño or hot will be my first choice, they had jalapeño and cheddar. I'm always bitching that if I want a real chicken fried steak I have to make it my self because virtually no one does because there the frozen crap, they have a homemade take home package of 4 that I snapped up but have yet to cook. The jalapeño and cheddar sticks were so on point with nice chunks of cheddar and jalapeños, dam I only bought one package. The take and cook country fried steak package finally got its turn and I must say that it was the best prepared take home frozen country fried steak I have had. They cook super fast and have a tasty crunchy batter with a tender moist center to my surprise. I'm really starting to hate my take a cooler while traveling to bring home items that I can't get where I live because there is great stuff out there and I'm probably never going to get them again because every trip is different. I would really like to come this way again and stop here so I could grab some more items. All in all this was another great county meat market that does what it does well and the whole reason that I now search them out when I'm away from home. I would definitely be a regular if I lived in the area and recommend stopping by if your in the area.

The inside of the place actually looks a lot like a Southern diner, complete with a rack full of bumper stickers for sale. Within minutes I had ordered a drink from the woman who owns the place, and within minutes after that, I knocked my drink over, spilling everything and breaking the glass right there on the bar. Since I had never been there before, it would have been very easy for her to have kicked me out and not had to deal with my clumsiness. Instead, she got me another drink without me even asked me and assured me that all was going to be well. We spent the next half an hour hob-knobbing with the locals who were very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I get the feeling that I will be back there again, and I can't say enough nice things about their hospitality.
