Sad to say i was utterly unimpressed . here are some takeaways : 1. the meat department offering was pathetic . Example there was not a single T-bone or porter house steak in the place , and the other meat items they DID have .... Well i ididn't buy because the prices were outrageously high compared to Fareway or Walmart . 2. There were numerous empty shelves and Out Of Stock items all over the store 3. The prices on a lot of things were the prices you would pay at a convenience store ... HIGH 4. In spite of all that i still bought a few things. When i got home i realized i was missing several items they had forgotten to bag .... so i had to drive 10 miles back to Maquoketa , and when i got there.....There was not a single cashier . Only thing open was those "self check out lanes " I am looking around trying to figure out what the hell i am gonna do ...And then i spot my items sitting on a service counter .. I just went over picked it up and walked out . .. And then drove TEN miles back home .. Unless something major changes / improvements are made there , i don't think the future is gonna be very bright for this store .

The place is practically on the Mississippi River on the Il side across from Clinton Ia were I was hanging out. The place really sticks out from the neighborhood because it's red and black against a pale back drop. The place was smaller than it looked but it was packed with goodies from fresh meats, cheeses, sausages etc with a frozen side filled with homemade and not homemade items to cook at home. One thing that I always look for is the homemade meat sticks and anything jalapeño or hot will be my first choice, they had jalapeño and cheddar. I'm always bitching that if I want a real chicken fried steak I have to make it my self because virtually no one does because there the frozen crap, they have a homemade take home package of 4 that I snapped up but have yet to cook. The jalapeño and cheddar sticks were so on point with nice chunks of cheddar and jalapeños, dam I only bought one package. The take and cook country fried steak package finally got its turn and I must say that it was the best prepared take home frozen country fried steak I have had. They cook super fast and have a tasty crunchy batter with a tender moist center to my surprise. I'm really starting to hate my take a cooler while traveling to bring home items that I can't get where I live because there is great stuff out there and I'm probably never going to get them again because every trip is different. I would really like to come this way again and stop here so I could grab some more items. All in all this was another great county meat market that does what it does well and the whole reason that I now search them out when I'm away from home. I would definitely be a regular if I lived in the area and recommend stopping by if your in the area.

Great stop on a road trip when you need to get gas, use the (clean) bathroom, and grab some food to go along I-88 as long as you don't expect anything beyond gas station standards. Shelves were organized, staff was SO friendly, found everything I needed... THERES EVERYTHING A STANDARD WALGREENS HAS: photo center, pharmacy, shampoo... Additionally it's located right off highway 136 as you roll into Clinton-very convenient. There's a gas station right across the street too, a BP.
