They greeted and made chit chat with every customer that came in the market. Even though this is convenient for the area and an asset, they could do maybe a little something to make it feel less unwelcoming inside. It has a sterile feel to it, which is a good thing for a market with fresh produce, but there is really no character to the place. With that, I always make a trip nearby to grab some drinks and snacks for the room. I'm not the biggest Food Lion fan, but in this area, there wasn't really that many choices close by. The issues started at self-checkout. I wanted to remove an item, but that required customer assistance. There were 4 (not 1, not 2, not 3, BUT 4) Safeway employees standing nearby and NOT ONE OF THEM even looked in my direction. I stayed in place for a while before getting frustrated and decided to leave all the things right at self-checkout. However, self-checkout is blocked in...and so are other areas in this store. As I was attempting an exit near the front of the store, something beeped at me when I approached some mechanical arms. Eventually the arms opened and I was able to leave, but what is even going on at this grocery store??? Really glad I don't live in Canton because I wouldn't want this to be one of my primary stores.
