Typical thrift store. It was pretty big but very crowded. There were a lot of clothes and…read moreknick-knacks, some baby furniture and equipment, seasonal items, shoes and boots, etc. I walked around for quite a while before I finally spotted a bin of yarn and ended up buying quite a bit of it. Luckily for me it turned out it was half price Monday so I got all the yarn for half what it was marked. I went back again the next Monday but didn't have as good of luck. I didn't really see anything new that had come in in the past week in the yarn category. But I got good use out of the items that I bought and it kept me knitting preemie hats and blankets and scarves for cancer wards which is what I do whether I'm traveling or at home.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this location for a number of reasons. This time I needed to do some actual grocery shopping and this just happened to be the location closest to where I was so I decided to come in here. I started by getting something to eat at the deli/cafeteria because I was getting hungry and it was dinner time. I got the chopped brisket plate with fried okra and beans and it was all very good. The lady who served my food at the cafeteria type line was very nice and accommodating and informative. They have a nice little eating area where you can relax and enjoy your food. Then I headed over to the fruits and vegetable section because I had gotten a new blender and wanted to buy a few items to try out in it. I was shooting for organic as much as possible and bought half a dozen different things for reasonable prices. The only problem was they had absolutely no blueberries which is very unusual. I've rarely seen a store that didn't have some kind of blueberries whether they were cheap or expensive but the store had absolutely nothing. Everything else I was looking for they had though. I got some healthy looking bread which I was out of, wandered up and down the aisles looking at a few other items and checking to see what they had, added some boiled eggs and Berry Yogurt to my basket and decided I was done. Total paid was under $24. The lady that checked me out was very nice and to top it all off after I got out to my car a young man who was walking by asked if he could help me load my groceries. I said no thanks I got it so he proceeded on to his car, got in and drove away. That means that he was off the clock, yet still offering to help me if I should need it. I thought that was above and beyond. I wish I knew his name so I could compliment him to his manager but maybe they will recognize the description. He was young looking, maybe 20 ish, blond hair, tall and thin, and appeared to be getting off work about 9:30 p.m. on April 1st. if somebody from the store reads this and recognizes who it would be, please tell his manager how much I appreciated the offer. I will definitely try to come back to this location. It's probably about an equal distance from where I'm staying at Bell and 40 as the other locations I go to, Soncy and 45th.

I lived in a city that had an amazing HEB where you put your own groceries on the belt, bag them yourself and take them to your car yourself. Prices are much lower at HEB because of this. Not all people in Amarillo grew up here and there are plenty of visitors. This is why this grocery store's prices are so high! All the employees doing unnecessary work that able bodied adults can do themselves. Save it for the disabled, elderly or anyone who requests assistance. It's not customer service, it's annoying and bothersome. Just have employees be on the lookout for carts in the parking lot. This location bothers me more than any other. You need coupons here to pay the regular price at Walmart or other grocery stores in other cities. High prices!
