The…read morefirst thing I noticed when I walked in the door was that the entire front of the store reeks of cigarette smoke. The staff must smoke while around the register area. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, you can barely get past it. What smokers don't realize is, that smell will attach itself to any fabric (on furniture) in the front of that store. It's literally disgusting. 99% of the (expired) groceries are gone. The shelves are bare. There's no indication if they will be getting more or not. Furniture is coming in; household and patio. There are racks of various clothing and a small area of sheets and bedding. I don't know if they're in a transitional state, or if this is what it will be like going forward. Unfortunately, for me, there is no reason to go back anytime soon.

For a moment, I thought this could be the new XS Cargo--a Canadian discount chain that closed down several years ago and I have longed for the return of. I was aware that many Amazon products that are returned get sold to liquidators, so I entered the store with expectations of pretty competitive pricing. What I found was a pretty broad collection of cheaper-quality products at, what seemed like retail or near-retail prices. In spite of signage assuring me otherwise, the discounts that I saw just quite didn't rationalize the purchase price for me. After all, some of these products may even be defective Amazon returns and the savings just weren't substantial enough to take that risk. While the products may indeed be acquired through a liquidation sale, or Amazon palette auction model, the price that consumers like me see doesn't quite reflect that. It feels like someone's making a handsome markup here.

Honestly, I think I'm in there more than anywhere else in town... okay, maybe second only to the coffee shop -- but still. Priorities. Recently one of the girls who works there asked, "Were you in here recently?" My response: "Yes... but you're going to have to be more specific." At this point I'm basically on a first-name basis with the clearance rack. This place is truly a magical hybrid of boutique, consignment shop, and small-town treasure hunt. They have clothes for kids, teens, and adults -- some new, some consignment -- and the consignment pieces are so pristine you'd swear the previous owner bought them, lovingly removed the tags, whispered affirmations over them, and then never wore them once. And it doesn't stop at clothing. Oh no. There's furniture, small appliances, baby items, exercise gear, bedding, health and beauty goodies (from really good brands, too). You name it, they probably have it. And if they don't today... check back next week, because the inventory changes constantly. One of my favorite things is how active they are on Facebook -- posting new arrivals, sale alerts, and little contests so you can plan your visit like a highly strategic shopping mission. If you live in or anywhere near Alden and you haven't been here yet, I don't know what you're doing with your life -- but I gently and lovingly suggest you redirect yourself to Under One Roof immediately. They further went on to state, they had nothing "tagged" for me since last December.... you literally cannot randomly drop off items, you need an appointment which I had January 26, 2026! The owner had her manager call me, who I had spoke to about these coats twice. Since they take your items and you get no ticket, ...they win! Bad business practice. Whoever took these coats has some nice winter wear.

This is M&T bank's Corporate reuse center with the furniture from their offices that closed down or not needed anymore. After looking for a bar unit almost everywhere from brand name stores and discounted furniture stores and even online, i found a great hutch made of real wood (not cardboard) for price in two digits. Even the cardboard costs in hundreds ! The expensive file cabinets for a great price. Well, if you go to their website, you can see stuff from office desks, computers, file cabinets, couch, chair and beautiful paintings for heavily discounted price. The BEST of all is that staff is very friendly and they deliver to your home too if its in the area. They are located near the airport and are open until 4pm. You can also make an appointment for the weekends and walk through the warehouse to shop what you like. They also repair the computers and you can talk to them more in regard with this. I was very happy to discover this place and find the exact stuff that i needed . They even sanded and polished the part of furniture where needed.
