After 20 years of renting cars, I have never seen such a terrible way to handle a rental. A mistake was made on my rental and instead of a one-way it was a local rental. You would think the Customer Service agent would let me know of such a drastic price increase before the transaction was completed.

By the time we made it to Tennessee it was very obvious something was very wrong with it. The car had fatal mechanical failure and ALL the warning lights came on while we were on the freeway. We quicker googled to find the closest Enterprise. We pulled into this Enterprise on a wing and a prayer and told them what happened. They gave us the choice between 3 different vehicles and had us back on the road in 22 minutes. The service was fast and friendly. I've NEVER had this kind of service from Hertz (we are Gold members), Dollar, Budget or Thrifty. We always rent from Enterprise - and this is a perfect example of why.

(For more details on Alamo - and their sister companies and competitors - see my review of the…read moreSanford Airport location) If I would have rated this place 8 months ago, it would have been one-and-a-half stars, tops. That time, it was an excruciating 40 min. wait to get a car - both at the counter AND waiting for a car to be ready. Last couple of times, it's been fine, if partially because I really haul a*# coming off the plane to be (among) the first one(s) at the counter - and if that means shoving the less-able-bodied and/or more elderly fellow passengers out of the way or knocking them down, so be it. Time before the last time, I did something I said I wouldn't do: tempted by the extremely low price, I elected to pay for a tank of gas and return it empty. BAD move! Calculations approaching the complexity of quantum physics is involved if you want to actually realize the savings. What's the gas mileage of this vehicle, in the city and on the highway? What's the capacity of the tank? How much do you trust the onboard computer on the range? To make matters worse, the range disappeared on that stupid CRUZE once we're below 40 miles or so, which gives the impression you'd better gas up STRAIGHT AWAY! Or risk being stranded. I think I MIGHT have saved 68 cents going that route, and that's being not risk averse at all. I won't do it again. This last time, we had 2 issues: they charged me for putting my wife down as an extra driver (without telling me there's a charge). We usually do that 'just in case'. Ended up she didn't even drive at all. Still not sure what the official policy is, but I know with National, spice (that's plural for spouse) are not charged. I got a brand new Chrysler 200, which is basically a Sebring with a new name. It's not a very good car. But the worst part is: it had no CD player! Sure I can hook it up to my phone, but I brought a few CDs to play exactly because I don't have them on my phone! In both cases, they should have told the customer, so that there are no surprises. It's not a huge deal. When I called, they refunded the $40 they charged for the extra driver without question, and Austin called about the CD player once he found out there was a problem, which was after I'd returned the car, of course, but it's good customer service which you can't exactly take for granted these days. So, yeah - Alamo will continue to be in my consideration set. Thrifty and Dollar - they'd have to give me money to rent from them if they want to be back in that set.

I was asked to provide a $400 deposit upon arrival to pick up the car, because I was using a debit card. That was fine as I have always been reimbursed for the deposit from my experience with Enterprise. Upon returning the vehicle I was about 20 minutes late ( I stopped to get gas). When I dropped the car off I didn't speak with a person to spell out the charges, I was told to just drop off the keys (lunch time) I just received my final bill and was charged over $800!! They charged me a full additional day for being 20 minutes late, and took my entire deposit. I should've followed my instinct to ask to speak to someone about the charges instead of hoping I wouldn't get ripped off. Never again! Just because the cars here are cheaper doesn't mean your bill will be any smaller. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else!

I've been told I was on a list and they will call me to let me know something. I have never ever received a call back from Enterprise Chapman Rd. I continued to call and received an excuse for not getting a callback. So after one of my many calls I was informed that I could call any Enterprise to swap cars. So I called Lee Hwy, Fort Oglethorpe, and Hixson Pike and was told by the representative, "I will call you back". Til this day 4/23 NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. So I take it that is just what they tell you just to get you off the phone. Surprisingly this morning I had. Voicemail from Enterprise Chapman Rd stating my contract had expired and they needed the vehicle back. I quickly returned the vehicle and the lady who called lied and said I tried calling you 5x yesterday and I told her to stop lying because I didn't have one missed call nor a voicemail. She stated I gave the wrong number on my contract and she had to call around to get the correct number and I left a voicemail for you. My question is Who did you call around to??? My contract was set up by Liberty Mutual so me giving the wrong number on my contract was another lie. And for her to say she called around to get my real number was another lie. I received the car on half tank and I'm mad I returned it above half but I'm going to wait and see if another lie be told. Enterprise communication skills are the worst once they get you in a car they don't care about anything else. Now I have 2 pending charges for $50 that will be disputed. Enterprise knows who I am because I'm posting my review on the day of this event when we exchanged words and I bet they still won't call me.

My family and I rented a car from National while taking our young children to visit their grandparents. Management reached out to request feedback on our experience, when we shared what occurred, no response or acknowledgement was ever received from National. After we returned home the company then decides to hit us with claims we damaged the vehicle, total garbage and inaccurate claims. The management team to this date (5 months later) have never responded to my 3 emails about these damage claims. This service provided (or lack there of) is an absolute waste. The complaint is more about lady behind the counter than the misinformation. She is a tall African American older woman. She was rude from the very first question I asked her. I maintained my cool until I asked about cancelling the reservation so I was not charged. She rudely slid a pamphlet to me and in a sarcastic tone said "IF you get a refund". So I told her she was rude and from there everything went south. When I told her how rude she was and unprofessional she got even more of an attitude and called me ghetto. I did exchange a couple names back as it set me off that someone in customer service can be so rude from the very start. Someone like this should not be the face of the company. I asked for her name and she refused. I let her know I was taking her picture and she told me she was calling the cops. All I wanted was her name and a corporate complaint number in which she refused to give either. This lady should not be employed in customer service. I overheard her sarcastically say she didn't need to deal with this crap when she is about to log out. So basically, she had her attitude because she was more concerned with leaving than doing her job and being kind and helpful. Rather, she is the employee who wants to get paid but doesn't take any pride in her work or customer service skills. Never will I use this company again and hope more people standup to her and report her.

I explained my situation to Dylan J, and asked what he could do. He doesn't set prices for Hertz, so that's not on him. I ended up paying about $150 more for the entire trip than I would have with Enterprise, BUT.....he did manage to keep that amount down from what originally came up in the system. He worked with whatever he could and applied any discount he could find and probably saved me an additional $150 or so. They DID have cars, and they had the size I wanted. We looked at the options, and I picked what wanted most. He made sure it got cleaned inside and out and explained the option to prepay for the gas in the tank. No it wasn't full, but that's part of the deal. I could have taken it and filled it at local prices (10 cents a gallon more than Hertz's option) AND bring it back with the same amount of gas in it. Since I prepaid, I could bring it back on fumes I aid more than I planned for my rental, but considering that I walked in at 2:00 on a Friday without a reservation and drove away with what turned out to be a great car for the long trip, I can say I am happy with the experience, and am VERY happy with the job Dylan did to save my vacation.
