Ok after all the reviews, we decided to give Dolce a try. What a welcoming surprise. From the minute you walk in you are treated like you are part of the family. There are so many options on the menu I was having a difficult time deciding. I went for the Veal Parmesan special and the wife decided on the cheese stuffed shells. Both dishes were outstanding. A family run, friendly place with home cooked Eastern European/Italian food. Let me say that our dinner was enjoyable. The food was good, the homemade rolls very good, salad excellent and the fact that you can BYOB a plus. I'm not a fan of chicken without a bone and the Chicken Moldavia fit the bill. A breast and leg with a blend of peppers, potatoes and other good spices. The wife had another chicken dish with a breast and red sauce over pasta. When they came out my dish only had cut up chicken breast, same as my wife's. The only difference between our two dishes was she had pasta and olives and I had potatoes. Now I did enjoy the dish but had to ask about my leg! Julia, the owner/chef came out and explained, "nobody here likes bones" so she only uses the breast. In 7 years, I'm the only one that asked about the leg. Well, I'm surprised that no one in Hagerstown likes chicken with the bone and that in 7 years no one questioned , "where's my leg"? My son lives in Hagerstown and recommended that is stop there for dinner with some co-workers. It was very good. I had the baked ziti and the others had the chicken Parmesan. If you are craving a real good pizza this is definitely the place to come to. Not a fancy place by any means but very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the veggie pizza and it was scrumptious! It has been a very long time since I have eaten an entire pizza, so I need to recommend Dolce. For this review, I had Dolce's Four Cheese Pizza. The pizza was served really hot, so eating the first slice was me just living dangerously: I couldn't really taste the pizza. The second slice was better than the first. The third was better than the second. The third slice was better than...you get the point...until I ate the whole thing. The only flaws were that the bottom of the crust was burned in some spots and there was a spice missing (I don't know which). Visited today based on reading Yelp! reviews. We were very satisfied. Both of my children and myself enjoyed everything we ordered. My son had pizza, my daughter had stuffed shells, and I had the lasagna. Everything was great. Easy to miss, but worth finding. Yesterday was the first time being there and it exceeded expectations. The atmosphere is very laid back and the dining area is small, making it feel real. Along with the actual room, Dolce's menu is loaded and there appetizer bread rolls are amazing. Finally settling on lasagna and a small pizza to test out (more like a medium), I was surprised to get a taste of some actual tomato. This is a small family owned place that you almost miss when you drive by. However, this is a gem that you want to make sure you find! Keep in mind you are there for the food, not the size or the glamour, and you will be very impressed! The atmosphere is one of being a welcomed family member coming to a meal in their home... very attentive and warm service. From the complementary rolls (which they gladly give you more of) with your drinks to the free fried dough pieces after your meal, you are amazed this place is not the busiest resturant in town! I was even amazed by the side salad with the fresh two colors of peppers, deep red tomato, red onion, croutons, shaved cheese and chopped lettuce... not to mention the delicious balsamic dressing the waiter recommended. We had veal and chicken parmesan, and loved both dishes. This is fresh made food with really great sauce. We even ordered sides of meatballs and italian sausage, and both had great flavor and more of that delicious sauce. Tiny little business with maybe 12 tables. The greetings were lively and everyone is happy you are there. We were going to take out but the restaurant is lively and cute with foreign music that is a bit too loud but not uncomfortable. As soon as we sat down to eat they changed the music to very soothing sounds and a more tolerable level. I had not looked this place up on Yelp first so we were really guessing on quality. Turns out the Romanian family run business really makes you feel like family! We started with a sweet bread and unsalted butter, both warm and delicious. I ordered the Cheese Works Steak Sub with your choice of red or yellow onions grilled. I chose the full load; yellow grilled onions, green peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, grilled steak and cheese on a toasted sub bun. Where to begin? The steak and cheese that overflows the bun or the crispness of the bread playing against the grilled veggies in my mouth? Truth: I could only eat half of my sub, I had to bring the other half home. I would have loved to sit there for hours and taste three or four dishes, sharing with a group of friends. My partner had Hawaiian Pizza, pineapple and ham. His crust was on the thinner New York style but not one slice fell open nor did the crust sag. The sauce smelled homemade and on the herb side. The ham and pineapple filled the top of the pizza. There was no doubt that each slice was filled with toppings. Truth: we left with over half the large pizza to enjoy later. As we were relaxing and waiting for the bill we were brought fresh, hot, sweet doughnuts that literally made me salivate even after a full meal! Our bill was around $27.00 and worth every penny.
