Honestly don't understand why this place has such a low rating.. Let me start by saying that from the second I contacted Nancy she was professional but very comfortable to speak with, she was patient with us since my sister wasn't completely sure on what she wanted being that her budget wasn't thousands of dollars BUT Nancy worked with us. The location itself was easy to find, and lord the decoration OMG I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in the hall. Once my sister did her entrance(it was a baby shower) there wasn't a dry eye not only because of how she looked but the setting itself. Nancy went above and being to make sure this day was perfect. The young lady who assisted us during the party was also very helpful and friendly. A lot of my guest loved the place so much they will be contacting her for future events as well as myself. After I booked her I went online looking for reviews and found some not so nice ones, but like I said before from the first phone call till after my event my interaction with her and her staff was wonderful. I attended a wedding venue this weekend at the Brooklyn location. The venue itself is not bad, but it was almost 90 degrees that day and NO Air Conditioning in the place which is unacceptable. I see this is reoccurring complaint from other reviews I have read. Its a disservice to the folks booking this place. To have your guest leave in droves because the hall that you rented to share your joyous moment has no AC is despicable. I felt like i was minutes away from having a heat stroke in this hall smdh. Most of the guest where outside of this venue because it felt cooler outside than inside this venue. It was shameful to have to hear the Bride apologize because the place was too hot which should have not been her responsibility. No one should have there wedding day destroyed due to AC issues. I want to take this time to say to the owner SHAME ON YOU for not addressing this issues 10 complaints ago. I was advised that once the event was over the AC magically started working. That sounds shady as hell! Going Forward it should be the owners responsibility to make sure that who ever he/she has running their establishment makes sure there are no AC issues prior to any event at this location. The owner of both establishments, Nancy, was disrespectful and rude during the duration of the party we had. When shown the location, she mentioned that the air conditioners were going to be sufficient due to the newly renovated space but during the event, the air conditioning was practically broken. She said we had to let it run and by the end of the event, everyone was sweaty and damp. She came in and complimented the design we made and then sent a woman to come to the private party and record the setup we created. When asked why she was recording, she said it was for "marketing purposes". We politely asked the woman to delete the video because there were people who insisted to not be recorded and she posted it up on Instagram the next day. When asked, she told us that we were able to turn off the music at 10:40, but after we told her that we did not want her to record, she told us we had to pay $100 because we played music for an extra hour. She also sent a string of nasty text messages to one of the coordinators literally telling him to learn how to read. Overall, her attitude was nasty and spiteful because we did not allow her to take a video of our event. All she cares about is money and not the beauty of the events being brought into fruition. EDIT: As you can tell from the multiple negative comments that she has, there must be truth to what I am saying. Also, I hope you all see how a "professional business" speaks to their clients. Using language such as "BS" and OBVIOUSLY being spiteful by placing a phone number on a public website. A professional would never give their contacts information just like that. Even though you are a business, you still need to be compassionate for what your doing and you still need great customer service. You told us, by word of mouth, that we can have the music playing till 10:40, with a contract you shoved in my partners face and told him to sign before demanding him to pay with Zelle so it can be as quick as possible. Also, you know we did not say you can record the video but it's obvious you would not own up to it due to what previous people said. People, once again, PLEASE AVOID HER AT ALL COST. Best place and services you can find. This is the second time I book an event with Dolaj. One at the Brooklyn location on 10/2017 and the other one in Astoria on 12/2018. Beautiful space, that you won't find anywhere else for the price. My daughters first birthday party was here and we were able to fit 10 tables, and a bouncy house. The bar, and food area are sectioned off really nicely. The staff are great. The owner is accommodating. My only issue was I wasn't aware of their recycling technique. I purchased all can sodas, and not many cups assuming everyone would drink from their cans. However, the space doesn't allow you to drink out of cans. The can drinks have to be poured into cups by staff members. So, I had to leave the party for just a short second to purchase cups. No biggie. I would most definitely book this space again for upcoming occasions, and would recommend you to do so as well. read more

WARNING the owners are a scam and will charge you extra fees when your about to book, stop your party for reasonable noise for them to leave early, fake an issue for them to not return your deposit. If I could give them zero stars I would. I booked this venue for my son's baptism they quoted me the special rate of $1800 for 120 ppl. I wasn't informed that it would be an additional $600 for 150 ppl. They also added extra fees and "taxes". I ended up pay $2500 with a $400 refundable security deposit. The day of my event, I called and asked if the doors could be opened earlier for the decorators and she told me no. So I get there at the assigned time and no one is there to open the door. They show up 45 mins late. Then the guy who opened the door wouldn't even help us put the chairs out. Then the "owners" show up with a "gift card" for $250 off my next booked event. When I went and picked up my security deposit the owner gave me the money without any issues. After I left she called to tell me that I had taken her table because one was missing. I asked what I would do with the table and if there was an issue why not tell me when I was there. She said she would check the cameras and get back to me. Haven't heard back from her since. I guess she found the table. Nice venue but the owners are crooks!!!! read more

This venue and service was completely amazing from start to end. I had my baby shower 2 weeks ago and everyone loved it. Nancy the owner was great very attentive and always ready to answer my million questions. The venue itself was beautiful super clean and well presentable, bathrooms were clean and the service was great. The place is perfect for any kind of event I highly recommend it. I am mortified! This venue space was quite unprofessional. How on earth did a catastrophe unraveled for a baby shower event? I spent my money for a party that was poorly executed. Also, my guest either received spoiled food or was not fed at all. Not only was the food spoiled but utensils were lacking to serve people. We are not cavemen, we are human beings! My sister had to leave the affair to go outside to buy plastic spoons and plates to serve the cake. It was beyond unsatisfactory. read more

I went to this venue for a babyshower of a family member and it was beyond amazing from the food to the Photobooth and the staff was very attentive to all of us as guests. This is a shame all the bad reviews I have read because my personal experience has been the opposite and I enjoyed a lot this venue. I would recommend this venue in a heartbeat very professional and far from being crooks, people just don't like to be wrong and tries to find the cons from the businesses and doesn't think on what they did wrong. My husband and I gave our daughter a Sweet 16 on 4/28/18.  We had such a wonderful, memorable experience.  We chose the package that included everything.  I was a little surprised with the amount of taxes because it hiked up the price, but I know that taxes are unavoidable as long as you are alive. Nancy did everything within her power to ensure that we were happy.  She was accommodating when there was a misunderstanding.  She was attentive to all of our needs.  She made sure that I responded in a timely fashion so that all of our needs were met.  If I had any questions she responded as soon as possible.  When we walked in the venue the night of the event it was a night to remember.  It was gorgeous.  The tables were nicely decorated, the table that spelled out my daughter's name was beautiful and the 16 table was fantastic. The bathrooms were well stocked with toilet tissue, soap and paper towels. There was air freshener and a candle burning that had a nice cinnamon apple smell. The security was alert and very nice. The bartender was friendly and generous. The bus boys tried really hard to keep up with the crowd. Although the DJ didn't play the majority of the music my daughter requested, the kids still had a fun time. Overall, we had a great experience. Thank you Nancy. read more

I WISH I CAN GIVE THIS VENUE A -1 STARRR IF I COULDD !! I Had My Baby Shower Here & The Owner NANCY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY LIKE EVERYTHING WAS PEACHY ASKING ME HOW MY EVENT WENT THEN PROCEEDED TO INSULT ME & Disrespect Me Because of A Transpotation issue I was forced to leave the venue late (which was never intentional) Long story short my contract was from 6pm - 2pm 2 hours for set up 6-8 5 hours for partying (8-1) and 1 hour for down time 1-2 , so in the midst of my event I realize that it was closing in on that time at about 12:50 so i told the dj to announce that we were cutting the cake in which we did which took about 20 mins having to get the guest to gather around ect . Okay after the cake was cut the music was off by this time and people started to leave ! At 1:10 pm I have the text to prove nancy text me saying the guest were still lingering and neeeded to be of the premises in which i proceeded to make the announcement and everyone did start to leave , okay enough of that part so the venue apparently included a clean up fee of 175 !they had pne guy cleaning up and my FAMILY helped him clean the venue so why pay when we could have did it outselves right ? So the issue arised when we were loading the uhaul with gifts and ect and realized that we would have to make twoo trips because everything could not fit in the uhaul at once this was about 1:30 ( my this time the venue was 90%) clear who ever was left back was my family who was helping load the truck . I explained to the guy that was present and was so apologetic about it what happened and just asked him to bare with us , she claims she has cameras so she can see we were literally waiting there with everything packed waiting for the uhaul tl return . So because lf this we end up leaving the venue at 2:30 am . She called me with the most disrespectful tone saying i have to respect the contract and why was I cutting my cake at 1am I should have took my cake home and mentioned how she runs multiple buisness and people abide by the rules as if I had intended to leave 30 minutes later maybe we should have brought the stuff outside and waited for the uhaul. Then she procedded to say how would I feel if I had to leave work 30 minutes late and I explained to her That I too am a professional and there has been multiple times things happen and I have had to stay over an hour just to get things done ! (Please excuse my gramar I am writing this review highly upset lol) any way she proceeded to say that she still gets "booked" and doesnt care about bad reviews but I hope someone reads this and thinks twice. read more

I hope everybody takes the time to read this before booking with this venue. On June 20th, 2018 my coworkers and I went to Dolaj located on 600 Coney Island Avenue to inquire information on pricing and so forth. After meeting with the venue owner she informed us that we would not be able to book that location due to prior booking arrangements. She did however take us to a smaller venue space at 626 Coney Island Avenue upon arrival we entered the venue which seated 48 people. We asked the owner Nancy if the 2 portable air conditioning units would do the job and she reassured us that it would be just as cool as her other location and might I add we were pleased to hear. After my coworkers and I decided the venue would be suffice for our event we informed Nancy and walked back to 600 Coney Island Avenue to take care of fee's and other details. After doing so Nancy verbally told us that we could begin setup at 4pm and that we had the venue for 7 hours (so 4-11pm if I'm not mistaken) she also verbally told us after 10:40pm the music would have to be off which is great if you ask me so with that being said we agreed and agreed to send the money through an app called Zelle. The day of the event we arrived to 626 Coney Island Avenue to setup, we were met by one of Nancy's employees who shall remain nameless due to the fact that he is a MINOR and as Mr. Sergeant as Nancy called me through text message later that night, I respect the law. Speaking of law child labor law states that minors under the age of 18 cannot work pass 10pm on a calendar school week but that's another battle for another day. After setting up our guests started coming in, several minutes later we observed someone who wasn't invited to the event recording after realizing this we immediately rushed over and asked this lady to please delete the video because we did not give consent for Dolaj to record our private event. As our event continued our guest sweated their lives away, at approximately 9:30 our guest began leaving the venue , after my coworkers and I ate we began cleaning the venue alongside the minor she hired because we didn't feel comfortable having him clean everything so even doe we payed $100 for cleaning we just couldn't stand for it. Yes we played music pass 9:40 but we only did that because we were verbally told 10:40. To make a long story short the employee who recorded the video came in heard the music playing called Nancy and made it seem as if we were still partying, so Nancy became rude and disrespectful over the phone yelling and hanging up and texting me as if I wasn't a client and that's when everything went left. We did leave the venue on time as I recorded it because I knew where this was going and would end up. I was invited to an event at this hall, and although the hall is beautiful and they throw in extras for a discounted rate which in the end they end up keeping your deposit so it is no longer discounted sorta a scam if you ask me. I believe she throws in the discounted items knowing she is gonna find every way to not return the deposit. Seems like she is so pleasant till the day of event. She is also very very EXTREMELY RUDE. There is a way of handling things which is pull aside whoever is renting your venue at the time and discuss the issue, like I said I was a guest and this woman was clearly upset saying foul words in front of guest/kids. Rolling her eyes and very unprofessional. She had the worst attitude to be running a business especially when you are catering to people. To see this as a guest was shocking. Although the party turned out great despite her disgusting attitude which everyone noticed, I would not recommend this venue to anyone, she makes guests uncomfortable and to me that is not worth the $ they charge. The hall is beautiful but don't ruin your day booking this hall. She is nice till your event. read more
