The claiming owner Nancy pwho's totally unfit to run a business and who is ABHORRENT AND A THIEF should not be allowed to have business in this state. Nancy claims to be a "upfront" person and so on, but reality she's a person who hides behind a phone. She has all sorts of people running her business who don't have no hospitality etiquette and who will provide you with erroneous information. This is just the beginning !!! When you contact Nancy she appears to be very lay back and pleasant but once you start questioning information that is literally not on her manipulated contract she will come at you with a disgusting attitude. This unmannerly lady runs her business from Florida, which complicates things because you can't speak to her face to face. Sadly, there is no one with authority to speak to in person, everything is done through a text or call or even a email which I come to find very sketchy and disrespectful since you're spending a decent amount of money. All she does is messages you regarding the colors of the event and food of choice; if selected and images of what you want the venue to look like. Her social media sells you FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Your event won't look anything like the ones she places on her social media pages. Trust me !!! It won't look nothing like you wanted. Obviously, I didn't research DOLAJ Venues properly (VERY BAD REVIEWS) before making a smart decision. I was totally brainwashed by her pictures and videos that she had sent. I truly regret spending my hard working money towards this place and that's just the beginning of the storm !!! Be prepared to have recycled/used flowers and decorations from previous events that are thrown into the garbage and then taken out to be placed in your centerpieces. That issue was brought to my attention by her own employees. All of it's services are disappointing. Catering is AWFUL. Y'all better of eating Canned food. Cakes was disappointing, dry and small. Restrooms were dirty and smelly somewhat like public restrooms. Nancy definitely edits her contracts at her own convenience to steal money from clients. I'm really not sure, why a place like this is still running. I truly hope consumers affairs and IRS looks into it. All DOLAJ Venues should be considered SCAMS. So Please avoid this place and don't be scammed. To close this review, be AWARE that Nancy exposes clients identifications information online by uploading images of clients IDs onto social media when a client writes a negative review of her venue services. I was a dj for a wedding reception over this past weekend 08/02/20 , and i must say 0 Stars to this event space. 105 degrees in this building with no Air Is unacceptable. The newly weds guest didn't even want to stay inside for more than 60mins. When the sound system wouldnt work, the staff had to be on the phone with the manager cause she was on vacation. Other reviews complained about the scam One of my guests broke a sink which they place began harassing me all hours of the night even at 3 .am! Within 24 hours we offerred a credit card to pay for sink and by 8.am.the next day we had a plumber there to fix the problem. Then they started saying we damaged a chair. I see the scam. BE AWARE!! , that unfortunately the people that are running this establishment are extremely unprofessional, witty and vulgar everything opposite of professionalism. To my own experience when it comes to business ethics and manner business professionals should know that they should respect all clients not matter what. I called to only to find out some information and upon answering I felt the associate was witty, sassy & not professional with how they answered my questions. I am a particular person ! I only ask questions that I wanted to know, but I kept getting vague answers. Which makes me question who i am calling. The owner Nancy had an epic wedding contest that I entered in. According to the contest flyer I was under the impression that I would be winning my dream wedding. Apparently Nancy had his contest information up since June and has been looking for a winner. I did understand that due to her having this contest information out for so long, I was unable to push the date back. She was unable to give a definitive date but did tell me that the wedding would be taking place in March and on a Friday. When we spoke she advised that March 1 or March 8 may be the ideal day. She also advised that the date may be pushed back but it's all due to what the vendors have available. That was not even a problem at all. I specified and made it clear to Nancy that my fiancé and I are on board I am more than happy to work with her. We talked briefly that night but nothing was outlined yet. I had to contact her to find out what my options were for the contest. Nancy was very unorganized and did not have anything in order. She did not have a contract that showed what was offered to me and what expenses I had to take care of. When I spoke with her she advised for me to contact all of the vendors on my own and if they did not know who I was to just let them know or reach back out to her. What surprised me was that she did not send out an introduction email announcing my fiancé and I as the winners. I thought that was very unprofessional due to the fact that we WON the contest. I have never planned a wedding before and there was not a wedding planner appointed to me for the contest. I did send her a very professional email advising that I would feel more comfortable if she would send a introduction email to break the ice. She called me back and constantly re-iterated that this was a free wedding and I had to work around her and the vendors time. I advised that I did understand that but I needed some more help with this being a big day for my fiancé and I. Nancy then became very rude and disrespectful cut me off several times during the conversation and would not allow me to explain anything. She is very disrespectful and does not know how to talk to people nor does she conduct business in a professional manner. She basically became offended due to the fact that I told her, I was not feeling as if we were being treated like we were a part of a contest because I'm doing everything on my own. I was under the impression that this was supposed to be an epic wedding giveaway and it was a epic fail. I am so happy that I will not be a part of this contest nor will I be using her venue I would never support her again. I don't understand how she could get offended do to me advising her what I thought should've been done. With this being a big giveaway she should've had everything organized and planned and all I had to do was speak to everyone individually to make the decisions on what they are offering. As a winner of a contest I should not have to feel as if I'm being downgraded. She told me that I am being ungrateful how dare she say that! With an attitude like that and dealing with business in that manner she will never be able to prosper. The Astoria location I and my husband visited on Saturday for our best friend baby shower. The coordinator lied about an incident that never happened because I was sitting by the door and saw the whole event. She smirked the entire time as my friend decided to leave to not ruin the event. Than she didn't allow another friend of mine to come in with her baby. Keep in mind our friend traveled from Staten Island. I also caught her smiling as if this was ok. PAY ATTENTION to each and every review on Yelp​, the good and the bad. I am not sure on the accuracy of other social media sites as comments can be biased based on the user being able to delete as she pleases. I wish I did my research and read reviews thoroughly before booking Dolaj as my wedding reception venue. The venue is nice in appearance ​if you are looking for a venue that offers a blank canvas for decorating. I paid $2613 (100 guest) to rent the space- breakdown $2000 for event space + $400 deposit + $213 in taxes. The $400 deposit consists​ of a $200 cleaning fee + $200 security which was to be refunded at the end of our event. We chose not to use her decorating services as it was not to our taste and would have​ increased the cost of the space. I purchased all my decorations and had someone decorate for me instead. She offers a bartender and a busboy​ as a part of the space rental, which were two things that appealed to me when we booked. Only to arrive at my reception to see her and her husband as the bartender and busboy​. If you choose not to hire staff to do this, at least be in presentable attire. She walked around in a bright red tracksuit and what looks to be like house slippers at my wedding reception. The owner is very rude, nasty and manipulative. She only pretends to be nice, but the attitude is right below the surface of the pretense. I was surprised to see chairs stacked at the entrance of the space when I entered my reception venue. The decorator asked that the chairs be removed and the response was that the chairs have always been there. The stacked folded chairs can be seen in some of my guest photos ​since they were stacked right beside the grass backdrop that we rented for photos. I've never seen folded chairs stacked at the entrance on the two occasions that I visited the space. Any classy space manager would never leave stacked chairs at the entrance for guests to see upon arrival! Some of my guests​ complained to her that they were cold, in which she gave them an attitude, instead of fixing the temperature. To cover herself she went to my husband and told him to let her know if any of the guests were cold, at this point they had already complained that they were cold and received a nasty attitude. There was hardly any toilet paper in the bathroom and the toilet was not flushing properly, which my guest told her and received her same nasty attitude. At the end of the night, ​I ended up throwing out water from foil pans in my reception dress and throwing out what we considered garbage (leftover food scraps in foil pans) ourselves. When I asked what the $200 cleaning fee was for, I was met with her nasty attitude stating she has done a lot for us all day, as if she gave us the space for free. This is your business so if you choose to do things yourself because you don't want to pay extra staff, don't then complain to your clients as if you were not paid. We were rushed to pack up after our event, not realizing that some of our bar supplies such as cups, drink straws, drink napkins, a bottle of whiskey, vodka and rum were​ not accounted for. All things that I purchased, I brought to the venue with my own money. My reception had about 85 guests, less than​ 90 people in attendance and I purchased a box of 500 cups, a box that contained 1000 black drink napkins and a box that contained 1000 drink straws. She placed all of our leftover​ wine, champagne, beer, water, juices and wine coolers on the bar top for us to pick up, minus these items. When I called after the event to inquire about the remaining cups, drink straws, vodka, whiskey, ​and rum. I was told that I should have checked the garbage. There is no way that an event of less than 90 people finished 500 cups and 1000 drink straws and 1000 drink napkins. Not to mention many of my guests​ do not drink so there must have been some of the vodka, whiskey, ​and rum left. The icing on the cake was when she called me on my wedding night to let me know that our DJ mistakenly packed one of her cords and that " this may become a problem in us getting back our $200 deposit", since there was an event after our event that would not be able to use the cord. I called my DJ immediately and he assured me that he did not take the cord that he left the cord at the DJ booth. He explained to me that the cord is a cord used to hook up a phone, Ipad or other devices to the system. I looked up the cord and realized that the cord cost between $9-$15 depending on the brand. I called her the next day and told her that the cord can be taken from our deposit. She agreed that she would order the cord and refund us the balance of the deposit with receipt. Let me start by saying the venue is spacious, fairly new and worked for the vision my event planner, Tammy, had for my daughter's Tiffany & Co. themed Sweet 16 party. The party went well and everyone enjoyed themselves. The problems started once the party ended...the owner, Nancy, was nasty and rude to my friends that were helping clean up to get us out of there by the time we had to vacate. Since we were rushing we did not notice many things were missing. We had liquor and certain drinks that were not there during the clean up and we know the liquor and drinks were not finished. We were told we would have a bartender and someone to clear the plates from the table during the party...that was the same person, the owner. My contract stated that the $400 deposit is fully refundable but then goes on to say that they keep $200 for cleaning fees and then refund the remainder the day after the party. I paid a significant amount of money for the place, never heard of the deposit being used as cleaning fees and I had to ask the owner for my deposit back. Nancy made a mistake on the invoice and I texted her to let her know there was an error. She never responded. Then the day of my event, she comes to me to tell me there was an error and that I owed more money and she would take it from my refundable part of the deposit. If she made the mistake why am I paying for it. The venue is nice but the owners, specifically Nancy would make me NEVER rent from them again. She also posted my event planner's decor of the place on Instagram and when we commented on the video so my event planner could get the recognition, Nancy deleted our comments. Please note that she did not decorate the Tiffany & Co Sweet 16 event on Nov. 10th! She should have given credit where it is due! RESPONSE TO NANCY FROM DOLAJ CATERING FROM HER COMMENT BELOW: First of all, nothing I said was a lie. You were rude to several people. I guess them coming back and telling me you were rude, they are all liars as well? If it was one or two people that said it to me, then maybe, but it was more than 7 people who were trying to help us clean up that said you were rude. I think you need to check yourself. It is not a coincidence that most of your reviews say the same thing that you are rude to them during the clean up. My husband was the one who told me the drinks were missing so I guess he is a liar too? He is my spouse and we are always on the same page, thank you very much. And I am referring to liquor not juices that was missing...case of beer and bottle of Hennessy. That is why you offer a bartender (your husband) to serve drinks. Yes my event planner told me you helped set up, but you also took a video of the set up, which you posted on Instagram and when we commented under the post, you deleted it. Why? Is it because you want to give your future clients the impression that you decorated the event? That's what it looks like. I agree you have a business to run, but as you will soon learn that running a business also consists of making your client happy, gearing for good reviews and referrals. But you are very correct that God will continue to bless those who are blessed and I am blessed. So I wish you the best with your business. BEWARE!!! ASK ABOUT THE CANCELLATION FEE!!They are not upfront about the full cost of this venue! They say the $400 is fully refundable but then it states $200 for cleaning fees. They do not tell you that there is a $1,000 fee if you choose to cancel the event before your party date. 3 days after putting down a deposit, I contacted her to let her know I would not be able to keep my date due to unexpected financial issues. She told me I was still responsible for the full balance which was about $2,600. They continuously sent invoices for the full amount then one day a different email was sent to me. The cover page of their invoice stated there is a $1,000 fee if we choose to cancel. I responded to the email asking for clarity. I asked so if I paid the $1,000 would we would not have to pay the full remainder? Their response was, this does not pertain to your situation. Very unprofessional! After a phoneconversation it was confirmed that the $1,000 would have to be paid to cancel. I'm glad someone slipped up and sent that separate invoice for $1,000 because I think it's very unreasonable for a customer to pay full price for a venue that they don't plan on using! The contract is very contradicting! It says one thing then asks for another!!!I paid them the $1,000 and still haven't received my invoice/receipt , I guess they were upset they couldn't get the full amount! I have my proof of payment and their emails however this may turn out! Nice place but the owners are shady!!!! If I could give this venue zero stars I would. About 1 1/2 weeks I was in a wedding and the reception was at the above and I would like to say I will never use this venue AGAIN!!! You have a young man (who look like a teenager) as the on-site supervisor in which he was not helpful at all. The air conditioning in the view was not working properly and the venue was HOT when we arrived at 12pm. When we called Nancy she stated the AC was as low as it could go. It was 90+ degrees that day and to have no AC is absolutely unacceptable!!! My sister had to go and purchase fans just to ensure the wedding cake would not melt. That shows you how hot it was inside. Also, when we arrived to setup up the garbage from the day prior was not taken out and we had to call Management to address it. The number of guests that had to leave because the heat was overbearing is ridiculous. The fact that the bride had to apologize about the heat to her guests for something that the venue should have resolved saddened me. The newly married couple deserve some money back and an apology. I had an event for my mother's 50th birthday on January the 20th, it was great, I worked exclusively with the owner Jorge who was more than attentive, he was very accommodating and made sure my event was everything I asked for, everything I requested was giving to me without an issue, I even had security without even asking (comes in handy) he was very helpful during the event and made sure it ran smoothly he even made sure to wear all black (it was an all black affair) I would definitely recommend this venue and I most certainly would advise if you are considering this venue Jorge is the person to go to! I traveled from out of state for a wedding and this reception venue in Brooklyn was horrible. I was one of the first guest to arrive and went to the restroom and noticed that there was not any soap in the bathroom nor was there a cover on the toilet tank. I am an event planner & business owner. This venue has to be THE WORST venue I have ever been to & I have been to many! I have been apart of not one, but TWO events held in this venue. Please hear me when I say it is a RIP OFF! The owner claims she has everything you need, but she doesn't. She outsources and then overprices you! She asked for payment before allowing my second client to even see the venue, which is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL!! She left a teenage boy in charge of my second client's event, which was a wedding reception and he had no answers or solutions for anything. The air conditioner vent is leaking in the ceiling, so we were cleaning up water the entire event. The venue NEVER cooled down. It was 94 degrees outside and 94 degrees inside. We went and bought fans to keep the place from overheating completely! The bathroom had no toilet paper. The women's restroom toilet doesn't flush. All problems were never resolved for an entire 9hr wedding reception! This venue is the absolute WORST! I have a venue in Maryland and I would NEVER allow my clients to experience anything like the one my clients from NYC experienced. The Astoria location, on 24-70 49 street was hands down one of the worst locations to have a Baby Shower. I have never been to a location with such poor service and equipment. One example, the DJ was forced to come out of his own pocket to rent a speaker that worked. The chairs were flimsy and many people were afraid of sitting on them. Also, management was very unprofessional by the way they handled the event. Specifically, I'm referring to the fact that management was blocking entry to the event. I've never seen anyone go out of their way to physically block an entrance. Also, a very good friend of the host and a military veteran with two tours of Iraq under his belt was denied entry. This person came alone to an event with plenty of seating to where he could be accommodated. How are you allowed to disrespect a war hero on Veterans Day? Also the place wasn't packed there was plenty of seating available the manager started denying ppl the GUESTs OF THE PARTY!!!! One of them was a older women with a baby left her out in the cold after traveling from staten island to Astoria!!! Then we let in a close friend of the person who was throwing the baby shower and the owner and manager threaten to call the cops and stop the whole party!!!!! if they didn't leave!!! This is incredible I've done and been to a lot of private events in the past. I could of understand if we was all hoodlums and ghetto everybody was dressed to the T. Very nice sophisticated crowd. This is one of the worst places I ever been to and was treated with disrespect.I was threatened by the hostess because my brother was trying to come in the lady block the door refusing to let him in. I open the door and she threatened to call the cops on me and and she said I pushed her on top of that.This place has cameras they refused to show me the video.but threaten to call the cops to shut down the event it's a baby shower. Speakers were blown there is no capacity sign for Max people displayed anywhere. This lady was overwhelmed because of she was not having her way. she seen a lot of people and said there's too much while she didn't even have a counter or have anybody at the door to see how many people were in this building.so she does not get her way she will call the cops shut down your party and not give you a refund be careful of this place even if you have a contract it doesn't matter. I would give -100 stars if that was an option. Not only was I robbed, but she had the never to had a TIP bucket out at my BABY SHOWER. When we were promised 2 bartenders, when it came to the day of the shower, it was her (and she was pregnant at the time) and her husband in the bar. YES PREGNANT! They lie about prices and hit you with some bs the day of your event and ontop of that tell you some bs lie to rob you out of your deposit. So when you think you're paying "A" for your venue, when it all boils down to it, you're paying "ABCDEFG etc..". THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!! And it's a shame because the venue is so pretty. She scammed me out of my $400 deposit because she said I had over the amount of people in my contract when I know for a fact I didn't. I asked to see proof because she claim she had a counter at the door that monitors how much people come in and out (which makes no sense because even I myself walked in and out that venue a few times for the night but okay). So I asked to see the proof and she said she can't because it's handed over to her lawyers and in order to see that I would have to take her to court and she also threatened me and said if I take her to court she's going to take ME to court for ALLEGEDLY breaking contract. Because till this day I still have no proof that I broke contact by having over 100 people there (which I didn't it was like 65 people) all I know is she got to keep the $400 deposit and zero recommendations from me. Not very professional, Went for a baby shower, the guests were showing up and the place wasn't set up yet. I was helping to set up as a guest I shouldn't have had to. The owner Nancy wasn't there, her staff of two people were showing the room to potential clients instead of setting up for the party. It was just bad service all around. read more

*Warning* never book this place unless you want headaches and to waste your money! First of all if I could give this place zero stars I would. Secondly the speakers were blown out and they tried to say it was the music and DJ that made the speakers sound bad but once we got a new speaker from the dj who had to pull a few strings the music played great there and they couldn't even be apologetic knowing the speakers was part of the contract... next they rejected people from coming into the event saying we were over capacity of 90 people which we weren't then the lady that was supposed to be part of the help didnt help at all she caused more problems than anything and lied about someone pushing her to get in when everyone seen what really happened and she didnt get touched at all she then had the audacity to turn away a woman and her baby that came all the way from NJ the owners of this place couldn't even talk like civil human beings over the phone screaming and cursing threatening to even call the police if anyone else even attempted to come into the party... They shouldn't be owners of anything and this place should be shut down! read more

Customer service goes such a long way. I had an event last year and it was a great party. The Place I loved. But i can never forget how the owner spoke to me. I never recommended the place to anyone because of that. I think business owners need to understand the importance of good customer service. I will def recommend her to take a class or maybe anger management. It might help! read more

Worst Service I ever had!!! Please do not even think about going here. You will be treated like a dog. You will be treated horribly and disrespected. No professionalism at all. The owner is a scammer and does not care at all. She wants your money and that is it. The place is not even worth that crazy price. Where to begin!!!! Nancy you and your staff was so accommodating to me and my family.!!! Two weeks before the event I called you crying because I wanted to cancel on my end because I just felt things weren't going right, but you assure me that I was not going to cancel and everything would be what I wanted!!! I must say you kept your word to me it was beautiful!!! I used your Astoria location which is beautiful. My only suggestion would be to have some kind of banner what your name because if at night time and you use curtains or anything to block the windows people wouldn't know the event is there, but I didn't close the windows but I definitely think a good banner would attract more business. The staff that was there for my event were very pleasant to have. I would definitely book this place again, and a lot of people who came to the event was asking about it and you may be getting some calls in regards to parties.. Again I can't understand the negative comments that where left, but continue to follow God's footsteps because they are ordered and I pray much success over you and your husband business ventures!!! The worst part of the entire of experience with Dolaj is their lack of professionalism when resolving issues. In the 9 years of working in customer service never have I encountered or dared provide such terrible service. It is obvious that they lack the experience in the industry and the ability to resolve problems. In addition to poor management the owners have an inability to accept responsibility for actions or processes. Instead of learning from a clients negative experience and how they can improve by applying systems or processes that could deliver both excellent service and resolve problems they decide to ridicule or mock customers. All you gain is a poor reputation and in turn alienate any future potential clients. A successful business knows how to turn a negative customer experience around and retain those individuals as returning customers. Referrals are essential and unfortunately for you, you won't be receiving any from me or from any of the other people that have had a negative experience. I threw my Husband a surprise 40th birthday party back in November (2018) at the Brooklyn location. Everything from set up to tear down was perfect! I had contacted the owner, Nancy to discuss available dates and times and she was VERY helpful and professional. And everything that she promised would be, was! When I arrived to set up, the staff was already there doing their part and let me and my friends do ours without interruption. I was able to hook my iPad up to the sound system for the music, which was great because i saved $$ since i didn't have to get a DJ, i just created a playlist and let it play on! My guests were very pleased with the venue too! Everyone loved how nice it was. The location is clean and very well kept. I also love how there's a separate room for the food and a nice little bar area for the beverages. My husband was super surprised and he too loved the venue. When it came time to clean up, we all did our share and the staff gave me back all of the beverages that weren't opened and anything else that was unused. They were super sweet and helpful throughout the entire party. I saw some of the negative reviews regarding this venue and the owner but I have to honestly say that my experience was the complete opposite!! I would definitely book this venue for a future event and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable venue to hold any event. Nancy & I were in consistent communication with one another leading up to my husbands party and she even contacted me afterwards to see how everything went.
