They have a fantastic program set up for residents and visitors to the Aspen area where you can go and take the dogs for a walk, or a hike or spend the day with them at the park or your favorite coffee shop. Each dog is equipped with a coat that lets everyone know that he's "ADOPTABLE". That's what brought us in to just "look at" the dogs... The cages for the animals are large and clean, there is a HUGE area in the back with giant boulders that the big dogs can run up on and overlook the Aspen airport as well as the whole valley. The area where you can meet your prospective adoptee is also huge with park benches, a tree, balls and doggie treat so you can really hang out with and check out how your dog is going to behave. To help with funding they also offer grooming and boarding on premises. I think this place should be the model for all other shelters everywhere.. Just an amazing process and facilities. We couldn't be happier with our mixed breed lab pup.

The shelter is completely kill-free, so animals come from all over the states to be sheltered here. Adopting is easy, and the pet comes neutered/spayed and with all its shots. You can go and help socialize pets, or take them out for the day, a simple walk, a hike, or even take one home for the night! All of these animals are great souls who just want someone to love and be loved by. The facilities are wonderful and have been completely revamped from what they used to be. Located right across from the airport, it is easy to get to, so stop by and say hello! Maybe you'll walk away with a new family member!

I have had occasion to use this service twice over the years. In both cases the need was…read moreextraordinary and very unusual. In both cases the services took hours to deliver and were related to extremely difficult to diagnose illnesses. In each case a different vet provided the care and diagnosis. In both cases a complete report was in the hands of the regular vet before they arrived for office hours in the morning accompanied by a one on one phone call between both vets. I believe my pet could not have received better care anywhere. If your pet requires after hours emergency care, in my opinion you will not find a better place to get that care than Valley Emergency Pet Care.

We were staying in Vail and on our third week when our 7 yr old cat started vomiting…read moreintermittently. He is on heart medication and we attributed the initial episodes to the meds. When he began vomitting clear liquid with pink late on Friday night, we were extremely concerned and wanted to get him to a vet ASAP for evaluation. Valley Emergency was the closest option. We called and they had us bring him in as soon as possible. We had his records transferred from our local vet out of state and Dr. Julie Cox was amazingly knowledgeable and kind. Assistant Cat was also great and very caring with our pet. Our fur baby was given oxygen and some anti nausea and ant-acid shots. Xrays revealed no blockages and blood work a little dark and he was dehydrated. We wanted the best care for him and being 1.5 hours away with a snowstorm in progress, we agreed it was best to leave him overnight to ensure nothing progressed further. He did well overnight and we picked him up the next day. He is much improved and no further vomiting. Dr. Cox was very knowledgeable regarding his heart condition and extremely careful and cautious regarding giving him fluid, due to duretics he is on. She reviewed all records and test results carefully and discussed them and his current behavior at lengthy with us to be sure she had the full picture. We are so grateful they were open and Dr. Cox and Cat were on staff to see our fur baby and give him the best care. We knew he would be well-monitored and given care and affection, so we knew he would be in good hands while he was briefly away from us.

Anyways, Anna, the owner, is very helpful! She knows her stuff, since she works with dogs in her 2nd job and loves every dog that comes in. Her and her SO, Andrew, are such great people and the store is a life saver for people who are living in Snowmass, or visiting, because without it we would have to be going down to Basalt or Aspen... and it takes 40 minutes to get to Aspen nowadays, so this store is a lifesaver for us! Arrived in Snowmass with our dog, but without our dog dishes. They had a good assortment of excellent quality options to choose from. Decided while I was there to buy my dog a new plush animal with a squeaker, and they had several that I had to decide between (fortunately my dog was with me and was able to assist in the selection). Good options for cat toys as well. The owner said she only selects toys that she tries out on her own animals, and I believe that, as the cat loves the feather toy so much that I plan to stop in and buy another one before I leave Snowmass. So happy to have this terrific store so conveniently located here in Snowmass.

After his hematoma surgery, I was nervous about his recovery but Dr. Scarlett came to our house the same day and made everything so easy. Her knowledge and compassion put both of us at ease immediately. She not only helped him heal physically, but she's also being a huge support in improving his overall health and quality of life. What I appreciate most is how she truly listens and treats each patient as a whole being, not just addressing symptoms but looking at lifestyle, nutrition, and preventative care. She even checks in on how he's doing after visits, something I haven't experienced with many vets, which makes me feel supported and reassured every step of the way.
