We took a taxi to the doctor as our car was frozen shut that morning! You are typically supposed to wait in your car due to Covid, but they put us in a private room with blankets as it was freezing outside. Dr. Christina followed up with me via text message and always answers my questions or concerns. She is very responsive and I'm truly thankful for every employee that was there that day to make me and Zeppelin feel better than what our morning started out to be. Thank you, again.

Farrah fit us in for several private sessions as well as weekly puppy socials/obedience classes for about 6 weeks through her Puppy Explorer program. These are small, structured group sessions that are great venues for socialization and foundation training. Farrah is a world class trainer and endlessly patient. She took time before and after class to give us pointers and was also very available via text for questions. We'll be back in town in a few months and plan to sign up for her adolescent program. She's also recently brought on another trainer, Laura, who is wonderful as well. We've learned so much from both of them and look forward to being back soon!

I had the misfortune of having to go to her office for quarantine paperwork and testing. At my first appt, the doctor left the premises right before my appt citing "an important errand" only to return 45 minutes later with beverages in her hand; she and her assistant had made a snack stop besides the errand, meanwhile I am waiting in my car for the appt to begin. She was unable to perform a simple procedure of scanning my dogs' original micro-chips and refused to acknowledge her faulty equipment therefore requiring that I put in new micro-chips. In subsequent visits to 3 different vets, all picked up the original micro-chips immediately. She also did not follow procedure during the appt by taking blood work first before scanning the micro-chips and confirming their identity and previous paperwork matched, so I was forced to continue with her because she had already charged for the blood work. When I heard one of the dogs screaming in the exam room and I asked if I could come back and hold him she said, "no, you may not". She made rude and negative comments to me throughout the whole process. She made me feel like the project was a nuisance and a huge bother for her, rather than her job. She acted overworked, bothered and disagreeable at every question or request I had. By the time I left, 4 hours later, I was glad to get my dogs out of there and never see her again. Except I did have to go back to get paper work that she wouldn't print out at the end of the appt because she was in a hurry to go home. Absolutely no bed-side manners!!

The fact that she could not address the actual reason that I came to her, was ludicrously expensive, and then had the nerve to claim she had to told me that on the phone-- when I had expressed doubts DURING THAT CONVERSATION and she had insisted that something could be done over time-- so that I would drive an hour and a half each way to see her, was egregious. Along with her constant plugging of products that I didn't need (and she conveniently sold)-- and her suggestion that almost 2 hours of walking my dog a day isn't enough-- really what I got in this encounter was a $200 lesson on how to get my dog not to pull on a leash. I was told everything about my lifestyle with my dog is wrong, without her even asking for specifics on my dog's behavior or what is realistic given our setup. One size fits all approach, and the BONUS that changing all of it cannot improve his chances for safety or an improvement of behavior where it matters most. Chris didn't check that I understood how to do what she was saying. I repeatedly had to correct her on things that she had assumed about my dog. She put my dog in a situation with an unknown dog without asking me if it was okay or even warning me. Still most importantly at the end of the day, her only solution to my dog's behavioral problems was 24 hours a day policing or physical separation-- in other words, something I could have worked out on my own without shelling out a whole day and a couple hundred bucks. Chris is skeptical about "new school positive training" for dogs and maintains opinions that fly in the face of new research--- like tug of war being "practice" for aggression-- when studies have shown that isn't that case. She seems to think that nothing is wrong with making your dog lay in a confined space for hours on end with no stimulation. Honestly, the entire thing felt like a racket with her going through everything I said and saying it is wrong, and then at the end of the day telling me it wouldn't make any difference unless I could commit to keeping my dog locked up. it is so much easier to go through and nit-pick everything someone is doing to make someone feel like they are "getting advice" than it is to actually train a dog to think or behave in a different way. And frankly, although expressing greater dominance over a dog may have value, expressing no affection for and treating your dog like a freaking inanimate object to "establish first position dominance" is not the reason most people have dogs. I will be using the leash technique, something I had already heard but she fine-tuned, and one or two other pieces of advice, but as for an actual way to change his behavior I'm going to have to do a lot more research since she was unable to help me and unwilling to admit that help was possible. Frankly, I left her place discouraged, hopeless, angry, and annoyed at having to back down a 100 yard driveway that is inexplicably bedecked with an obstacle course full of cones. She also tried to upcharge me $30 for a collar, which I am mailing back to her after realizing it is half as much on amazon.

Previously only would go to get my…read moredog's nails trimmed since she's skittish (aka panics), after they failed to inform me about options for treatment with my previous dog's heart murmur. Turns out she was beyond repair when the Willits Vet Hospital offered switching up meds, further cost-effective tests, etc. Carbondale only offered a $600 procedure before would adjust meds or to allow my dog to pass on. Unfortunately, that's what happened. Agree with other reviews that practice is limited in expertise and is lacking in professionalism. Now, Carbondale is charging an additional office fee for all visits. I wasn't notified prior the $11.80 nail trim is now 3x because of an automatic 30-min visit charge (took 15 mins to pay over the phone, drop off and pick up the dog, and that's being generous). One thing to admit mistake because it's a new policy and didn't mention when booking, but they wouldn't refund when I asked. INSTEAD: Willits Vet Hospital is helpful and straightforward. Birth Tree Animal Hospital in GS uses natural options and is great with pets.
