We are feeling so fortunate to have found dog walks. Our puppy started at puppy day care just a few months ago when he was four months old. Puppy day care has ensured he gets the exercise and socialization he needs while we're at work. We come home to a happily exhausted puppy everyday. Our priorities in a dog day care were 1. A safe and supervised environment for a growing puppy 2. Safe and structured socialization with other dogs. We have noticed that his manners when playing with other dogs have improved so much since he started. When we take him to the park we can clearly see that he has learned how to play with dogs of all sizes and ages. We also love seeing him show up on the dog walks instagram so we can see him enjoying his day while we are in the office. Dogwalks has been so helpful and patient with him. He is so excited to see them show up to pick him up and even happily jumps into the van (he has yet to do this with our cars). We are so happy that our puppy will be able to be in day care and transition to pack walks as he grows up all with the same team. read more

Dogwalks is the best! Julia and her team take such good care of our Labrador retriever, who has been going to Dogwalks for about 2 years (since she was a puppy). She waits by the door for them to pick her up in the morning for daycare, and she comes home each day tired and happy. And they offer wonderful boarding services, so we know she'll be somewhere comfortable and familiar while we're gone. This is a review for the daycare services, I have never used the dog walking services. I picked Julia and Dogwalks because I have an old dog (15 at the time I started) who doesn't like to be left home alone all day while I work but also given his age was not up for a traditional wide open play room type setting. They come early in the day and don't drop off till after 4:30. With my job it is very difficult to coordinate pick up and drop off so having a daycare that handles both makes my life so much easier (and allows for an occasional happy hour without having to worry that my dog hasn't been out/taken care of). They are also responsive to emails (May take a day or two If sent over the weekend), and Texting and calling is always an option with Julia if there are any immediate concerns. Also, for people who like pictures, there are 5+ photos on their Instagram account posted daily. Only downside is some people may think it is expensive, but you get what you pay for and pricing has been very transparent and up front. As a bonus, your dog knows them and if you are a client boarding is easy. read more

SF Dogwalks is absolutely an ally for first-time dog owners. We couldn't have done it without them and their support over the last year has been priceless. We adopted our pup, Harbour, from the SPCA on a Sunday and were left scrambling to find care for Monday as it was apparent to everyone that at 8-weeks-old, he couldn't be home alone for 30min, let alone a full work day. Thankfully, Dogwalks responded promptly and we were able to bring him in the next morning for puppy daycare and almost every morning thereafter for months. At daycare, Harbour spent his days at Julia's beautiful home (with exceptionally nice furniture, considering she shares the space with a bunch of dogs) with a huge backyard and a bunch of doggie friends and friendly faces, and daily jaunts to the nearby park. I really liked that, in comparison with other doggie daycares in the city, this takes place in Julia's HOME. It truly feels like a home and a wonderful place for anyone to spend their day. Over time, we transitioned Harbour to fewer full days at daycare and more regular dog walks. We've met a wide array of Julia's staff and they have all been enthusiastic dog lovers whose intentions we never questioned. Harbour is always incredibly happy to see the Dogwalks crew and the peace of mind that we feel knowing he was well taken care of is priceless. Behaviorally, those early days at SF Dogwalks and the hours spent with his walking crew were ESSENTIAL. Harbour is now over a year old with great recall, and great off-leash behavior with other dogs. He can play with dogs big or small (in fact, he often seeks out the big dogs for playmates, which I think is in no small part due to his happy experiences being the puppy around a bunch of big dogs at daycare) and I never have to worry about his ability to manage social situations. There are a multitude of reasons why I wouldnt recommend this service of dog walkers here in San Francisco... HERE ARE MY PERSONAL 8... #1 came on the wrong day once...which defeated the purpose of having the walker. we needed them on the days my wife didnt work. #2 came at the wrong time three times. Again, this defeated the point of having the walker. I came home at 415ish and our dog wasnt there. We were assured he would be walked during the 10AM slot. I called about this 3 times and was told, "We are short dog walkers at the moment....and, so-and-so is sick." #3 I asked if they would leave a sticky for the time they arrived. "we dont do that." I was told. "But if you leave paper and pen by the door, you can do that right, we'll jot down the time." I found it very bizarre that they wouldnt leave a sticky as to the time they walked the dog!!!! I left the paper by the door and the pen...as requested, but it wasnt used EVER. If Im paying and giving keys out to my apt., then I, at the least, expect a sticky. GEEZ!! This was the first MAJOR RED flag that something was wrong. #4 in an email I sent (again, addressing the late walks), I was blamed for the parking situation in front of our place. "Our walker almost got a ticket in front of your place." Um, sorry. #5 one day...I came home and the leash remained hung up in the same place as when I left with car keys (which hadnt moved) on top. I took our dog out, and he acted like he hadnt been out in days...peeing immediately and also pooping a lot. I asked her about it, saying, "I just was curious if our dog really went out today, because he acts like he hasnt...and... #6 our dog was FIRED in a voice mail. "I'm sorry, but I can't have you challenging the integrity of my walkers." I called to ask/discuss the problem, but I never got through (after calling 6 times). I ended up sending a variety of emails/leaving messages. There was a general unwillingness to make their multitude of mistakes right. #7 As final blow... the keys were to be returned on a Thurs...and she came on a Wed!!! Of course, not a big deal at all, but it was humorous and the icing on the cake. I cannot rave enough about Julia and her fabulous team. They have been walking my dog Maximus every day for over two years. He sits at the top of the stairs and waits for his walker every day. He always comes home tired and happy from all the play and exercise. Also, having the ability for him to stay overnight or when I am on vacation is a lifesaver and Julia has often been able to accommodate these requests on very short notice. I could not live without them! Also, just a quick note about a couple negative posts. There is probably no one with a more crazy schedule than me as I travel all over the country and often have last minute changes. We really like this service. We came across dogwalks.com because we walk our (occasionally dog-aggressive) dog regularly in the Presidio, and occasionally run into Jameson and his motley band of well behaved dogs. Jameson is one of the few people who does not seem to be intimidated by a dog such as ours, and even though our dog has not had a perfect record with previous dog walkers, I had a good feeling about him, and we gave it a go. Regarding Julia, we did call her, my husband talked to her on the phone and she came for a 45 minute interview. He said she was laid back, reasonable, and professional. We had no issues with her, and the service she's provided. My real review is for Jameson, though, who is as reliable as the sunrise, and as relaxed and cool as the surfer guy he is. He has never had an issue with Lucy, he's very intuitive about her, and has built up a lot of trust with her. He showed us a video of her playing with all the other dogs, which is great for Lucy, who takes a while to become social. She's never had a problem with other dogs since meeting her new pack, and her new pack leader. Anyone can take a bunch of dogs on a leash for an hour in the park.. But I think it takes more of a dog whisperer to manage an entire pack, especially when off leash, and still make sure everyone has fun, and stays safe. Jameson and Lucy have a great relationship. Such a HUGE HELP having just had a baby and wanting to slow into the process of juggling 2 precious doggies and a baby! Dogwalks were super helpful in arranging for walks around nap time and daily for many weeks. Boarding is available also which is super convenient and local. Moreover, Aaron walked our dogs for months and the dogs literally run to greet him on arrival for their walk. Dogs are well behaved with exercise and relax at home and now their recall also seems much better, which is super convenient as tough to run after dogs with a baby in tow. She was very understanding of his needs and said she could come that evening when we get home from work (in the pouring rain!) to introduce herself to our pup. She was kind, knowledgeable and patient through the introduction process. She had our pup at her place for the first couple of days to get comfortable with the staff & other dogs. When I showed up to her place, I was amazed at how much care they take of the dogs. From making special treats, to having special notes for each dog to INSTAGRAMMING THEIR DOGS EVERY DAY :D!
