Great small business. Our dog Sadie spent a few nights there recently - before she'd only done occasional day care and a one night stay. They knew I was a little nervous and on her first night, I got an email with photos of Sadie and her new friends. We will definitely be using them again for overnight. We've only had good experiences with both our dogs for day care and now for boarding. read more

My dog has been going here since he was about 7 or 8 months old; he's now 14 months old. The pure joy he expresses every time we drive up to the front door to drop him off tells me all I need to know -- he is having the time of his life! The staff here love all the pups and they take great care of them. They will follow any instructions you have about what to feed your pup, when, medications, etc. They're all just so nice. We use High Tail for daycare and boarding. read more

We love High Tail! The staff are so caring and competent, and seem to really love dogs. I think one of the things that sets this place apart is the play rotation. They have areas with beds and crates and stalls (depending on what your dog likes) where dogs get down time in between play sessions. This has made a huge difference for us at home, as our pup comes home from daycare both tired and happy, but also less overstimulated than from places where the dogs are given free range to play nonstop all day. It's actually really helped us with crate training and relaxation at home, as she is getting to practice it there and learning that fun times happen after you're calmly hanging out in your crate. It's really made a huge difference for us, and I'm so grateful this place exists. They're really responsive to your dog's needs and very experienced--they easily created a schedule to give our dog medication when we had to board her right after a trip to the vet. Thanks High Tail! read more

**Wonderful** Everyone at High Tail has been so kind & taken such great care of my dog Ruby & I since her very first stay in 2013, 10 years ago. Ruby was a big, strong, smart, extroverted & very high energy pup & they welcomed her & loved her & always gave her fun day care days which helped me so much to keep her happy. They helped us through when she had GI issues & needed to be spoon fed multiple times a day & they helped her get ya yas out when she felt better. And finally, in this past year, as my beautiful Ruby lost strength, health & weight to chronic megaesophagus, as she got frail, they hugged on her & loved on her & made sure she still had some fun in the slow lane. My schedule was erratic & we only went a couple times a month (not every day like some clients) & they always welcomed us even so. And when Ruby passed, they sent me the sweetest note of condolence. Ruby & I thank everyone at High Tail. read more

High Tail Hotel took great care of our dogs, I would give more stars if possible. We took a tour and they then they took care of our dogs for a few weeks while we lived in SF for work reasons. Our dogs go to day care in LA, when I pulled up to drop them off both of our dogs wagged tails and whined because they were excited to go in. That brought my husband and I smiles and laughs, they loved it and after meeting the staff each morning and night I see why. Thank you High Tail Hotel! read more

The best place for your pups - for daycare or boarding. My dogs have gone here for many years. My current pup can't wait to go in for fun and friends. They have many staff who've been with them for ages and who love the pups. Couldn't be happier! read more

This review is way overdue. We have been bringing our dog to High Tail since 2017 and they have always been amazing. During the pandemic we adopted another dog and now both pups go there for daycare when we need it and boarding. Due to the pandemic we hadn't brought our dog to daycare for nearly 2 years and when I showed up the staff member immediately remembered my pup and was so excited to see her. I couldn't believe it. There is a lot of stress involved when boarding your dogs and worrying if they are actually ok while you are away. We took our first long trip in several years and we were very nervous about boarding our dogs and kept wondering while on our vacation how they were doing. We emailed High Tail and the High Tail staff immediately put our fears at ease letting us know all about what our dogs have been up to and how they were doing. We also called towards the end of our trip ( I know, but like I said boarding your dogs can be stressful!) to check-in and once again the staff was incredibly friendly and let us know how they were both doing. This reassurance was so comforting. The other comforting thing is every time we drop off our dogs their tails are wagging and they are jumping up at the fence leading in because they can't wait to get inside High Tail. The staff is always on top of it, you can tell they care about the dogs, they communicate well and they are very thorough going through all your dogs needs the day of boarding to make sure they understand all of your instructions. Another plus is they are open 7 days a week. This comes in handy if I have something come up that makes it so I need to leave the dogs home alone longer than I would like. I love that I can drop them off for daycare for the day and know they are going to have plenty of time to play and rest (the High Tail team makes sure they get some rest also) so when I pick them up after a half or full day they are happy and tired pups. I also love that I can just drop them off for a half day because sometimes that's all I need! Their location is right off the freeway and drop-off and pickup are easy. They have some reserved parking spaces right outside their door. If you are looking for an awesome daycare & boarding facility for your dog, with a wonderful caring & communicative staff - definitely check out High Tail! read more

My dog has been coming here for daycare for a few months now and he's also been boarded here for a week, so I thought I'd update my review for HTH's daycare and boarding services. They are both fantastic! I don't think I can find a better daycare or boarding facility than HTH. The people who work here are what makes this place so wonderful. They are truly kind, caring, enthusiastic, and pay attention to details. They make all the difference. They get to know your dog so you can rest assured that your dog is very well taken care of. Thank you for making this place great. HTH is cage-free, even for overnight boarding. They're also "green." Drop-offs and pick-ups are easy because there's normally ample parking out front. Their prices are also reasonable compared to some of other doggy daycare places that I've checked out (that are inferior). At my dog's previous daycare facility, my dog used to come home with lots of nicks and cuts on his body and face. I thought that my dog was just playing rough and rowdy, but ever since coming to HTH, my dog no longer gets those nicks and cuts. I think dogs' playtime is much more supervised here, versus some other facilities where it's more of a "fend for yourself in a prison yard" situation. I also noticed that they have a good ratio of dogs to workers, and they limit their daily daycare and boarding intakes. This is really important to me to ensure the dogs get proper supervision and care. Boarding has been great here, as well. I feed my dog a mixture of raw food and kibble, so it takes a bit more work to feed him, but the staff here has been very helpful in feeding him this special mix while my dog was boarded here. The best part is you can call or email to check up on your dog during your absence, and the staff is very always very friendly to give you an update; they're never rude or impatient. They really allowed me to enjoy my vacation in peace while being away from my dog. They also give a free bath after boarding for 7 days, so your dog comes home nice and clean. Overall, wonderful place and people. I'm so glad I found HTH! read more

I have taken both my dogs here to this daycare and I can not talk enough about them! They treated my dogs extremely well. There is a section separating big and small dogs. I hardly ever go out of town unless I can bring my dog with me. I'm that kind of pet owner. If I have to leave her behind, I have always enlisted the help of friends or family. But, she is older now and recently has had trouble going up and down stairs. I dreaded putting her in a kennel, but then I found High Tail Hotel. During our "meet and greet" (a scheduled visit prior to leaving her for boarding), it was abundantly clear that everyone who works there loves dogs and wants to be there. the whole concept has the dog's wellbeing in mind. I wasn't surprised when I got to meet the owner. read more

We love High Tail! Everyone there is so caring snd helpful with our pup Lucy. She goes there for daycare once a week, has so much fun playing with the other dogs, and always comes home with a "High Tail Hangover" - she's exhausted. She recently had her first overnight trip and stayed for two nights - I don't think she even missed us, she gave us a quick tail wag and lick and then zonked out in the car ride home. She was thrilled to go back later in the week for her daycare visit. Beyond a fantastic staff, High Tail also is competitively priced and doesn't break the bank. So thankful for them! read more

Call to inquire about dog boarding. Was asked to please hold to speak with someone more knowledge, 30 minutes later I was still on hold. At this point, someone should have picked up the phone and gotten my number to have that's someone call me back later. Suck, I really wanted to check this place out. It's close to my house and so far no bad reviews. I tried to book another time before but it was completely full and couldn't take on any new customers (which seems to be a good thing). I may recommend to just use the request for an appointment or walk in for anyone looking to check this place out. I'll follow back up if I ever get to check this place out. read more

High Tail Hotel is a godsend for our energetic 1-year-old pup Lola. She gets so excited when she realizes where she's going, and can't wait to get in the door. The staff is kind and patient with her and her puppy energy, and Victoria, the owner, is kind and extremely knowledgeable about pups. Their easy drop-off and pick-up makes getting in and out a breeze. And Lola had a great time boarding. Recommend High Tail highly for both daycare and boarding. Best doggy daycare in town! read more

Our dog Major has been going to Hightail once a week since we adopted him a year and a half ago. The staff are great and always very welcoming to him when he arrives, and its obvious he is treated well while he is there. Hightail Hotel is the best. I can tell not only that they have great people working there but I can barely hold my dog when I get him out of the car to go to the hotel. It is the only place I have ever let my dog stay overnight. He has boarded many times and he is as happy when I pick him up as when I drop him off. If you need daycare or boarding I highly recommend the "Hotel". read more

I pondered whether or not to write a review on High Tail Hotel for several months. I think that it is appropriate to let folks know the good and bad parts of our experience so that everyone can decide for themselves whether this is the most appropriate environment for their dog. Our Portuguese Water Dog stayed at the High Tail hotel for just over a week during Christmas and New Years, 2008/09. The cost relative to Tappen Hill or even an at home pet sitting service was not cheap. Several days into his stay, I received a call from Victoria that our dog was OK, but had to visit the Emergency Room, be put under and get xrays done. He had been playing with some other dogs, when a little one bit him on the foot. When he first arrived at the ER they thought his foot was broken. After High Tail he was on pain meds and antibiotics for a week. I am thankful that Victoria took him, and prepared a special meal for him when he had runny poop. She clearly had his best intentions in mind. Other things werent great. When we came to get him he had a deep scratch near his eye that Victoria hadnt even noticed. His collar had been broken inexplicably while playing with another dog (not easy, it was a strong collar) and he was running around in his choke chain (training collar) that we use to walk him - quite dangerous. When we went to pay, Victoria assumed we would cover the entire vet bill - an extra $600! I was surprised by this, and she offered to cover half which was not the point. Victoria did follow up several weeks later to make sure our dog was OK. She mentioned that other folks wouldn't have even taken the dog to the hospital. High Tail Hotel is a free play environment for dogs. As with children, I think that this type of an environment needs very careful supervision and is probably not appropriate for all dogs. Our dog will not be back. read more

My boyfriend and I travel A LOT so when we moved to San Francisco from Chicago, we needed to find a great place for our pup to stay while we were away. Blu has stayed in doggie hotels his whole life, is very socialized and is very familiar with the whole process. We took him to High Tail to check it out and see how he would do in the environment. High tail was really clean, had a grassy area, a separate feed area and offered 2 outside walks (with a pack) per day. As Blu was checking out the sights, something went terribly wrong, a dog got loose and ATTACKED MY DOG. I know that dog fights happen but what bothered me was how the whole fight played out. Victoria with the help of my boyfriend was able to break up the fight but my pup walked away with bleeding bite marks and scrapes. What if my boyfriend wasn't there to help? Why was the dog that attacked my dog allowed to be around other dogs? I'm not sure if they've ever had to deal with this situation before because the owner stuck her hand in the middle of the dogs and ended up getting bit. She was very nice and apologetic but obviously shook up (as were both my boyfriend and I). We opted to not take our dog back here but I wish it would have ended up differently because the facilities are really nice. read more

This review is long overdue. I use to bring my dog here for overnight boarding and sometimes just daycare. Twice my dog came home with cuts that were clearly bleeding. The first time it happened, it was minor and figured it was due to rough play, but I verbally notified the staff anyway. The second time was after a week of boarding. This seemed like a more severe cut and I emailed them. They asked for a photo and the only reply I received was that it looks like it's healing but she would ask the staff if they noticed anything. The follow up email further stated that no the staff didn't notice anything (this was odd since they showed my dog before I picked him up). There was no hint of an apology at anytime. This was an absolutely unacceptable response! Their service is to provide a suitable/safe place for dogs, which is monitored by staff 24/7. This clearly was not happening and so I started bringing my dog elsewhere. read more

High Tail Hotel is amazing and Victoria, Olivia and the Rest of the Staff at HTH are fantastic! I've been taking my English Lab, Bella, there since she was a puppy - and now she's 6. They've watched her during days while I work and often when I travel. I trust them more than anyone else to take care of her when I'm out of town. When she's been sick they've taken special care of her. And now, while she awaits surgery for a torn tertial muscle in her knee they still make sure she gets plenty of attention, and walks as she needs them, even if she can't play in the yard. Victoria even took the time to talk to me about the injury and recommended the surgeon I'm using in Marin (Sam's Clinic). Before Bella went to HTH I had about 6 months when she was a puppy when I wasn't working, so I spent all my time with her, but when it was time to go back to work, I visited 5-6 doggie daycares before I decided on sending Bella to High Tail. They had me fill out a lengthy document and had Bella do a 'meet and greet' for about an hour to see if she was a good fit. Because they carefully choose the dogs that go to HTH, I've never had any issues with my dog being bitten or hurt while in their care. When she first started, she was a little scared when I dropped her off, not having much experience in this kind of situation. It was loud, there were a lot of dogs playing and she was a 7 month old puppy from a farm out in Nevada who's always been on the more cautious side. I remember getting a photo of her on her 1st day, where she was just kind of hanging against the wall in the main area looking a little scared, but within a few weeks she was jumping out of the car and running to the front door. I understand that she's now one of the 'greeters' for other new dogs at HTH and even though she's always happy when I pick her up, she loves it there!. HTH is different than than the other doggie daycare places I looked at. They have open space, even for sleeping, I don't even bring her bed when she stays overnight. They do have kennel spaces if that's what your dog prefers for meal time, naps, etc. They are very good about feeding special meals or giving medication and I appreciate that they always let me know if she doesn't seem to be feeling well, and they have worked on her bad habit of jumping when excited, and most of all, that my dog is happy and healthy and has an awesome place to go when I can't care for her. And I feel better knowing that she's having a great time, in a safe environment amongst caregivers who really love animals. And while she's always been a sweet dog and great with people, I think the time at HTH has made her an even better pet - she's socialized with both people and dogs, great with kids, obeys commands from not just me, but anyone who's watching her or playing with her. If you're looking for daycare or overnight boarding, I would choose HTH over any dog walking service or other boarding options in or near the city. read more

Let me preface this with the fact that I'm an unusually picky customer who has left her 5 month old Shiba Inu Puppy with High Tail Hotel for an entire week. Can you imagine how much could go wrong? But, alas, High Tail has delivered and exceeded my expectations. The owner and the staff took care of my puppy as if she were their own. During my trip, I occasionally called in to check on my pup. The staff was always very responsive and gave me a very detailed description of her day. My pup, Tess, would wake up around 7am to have breakfast, followed by a walk, and a puppy nap. She would then have lunch, an hour of play session with small dogs, another nap and/or hang out with the staff or other dogs until dinner time. She's then given dinner and another walk before she goes to bed. Tess had the time of her life and I know the staff gave Tess the attention she needs. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Everyone is so friendly here and they even foster dogs for local rescues to get them adopted out. Our pup was actually there before we adopted him and we still take him there now. After seeing Pet Camp (before I visited High Tail) I was seriously scared that all doggie daycares were like Nazi camps. Fool me once! I have never seen my dog play like he does at High Tail. If he is happy there, then I am a happy mom! High Tail has no cages. All the dogs sleep together in the bedroom WITH a real live person. One thing to note, if your dog is crate trained that is fine too. I was just amazed by the freedom the pups get here all day long! When I showed up one gal was giving a massage to some of the dogs! They get two outside walks per day and free range of the facility at all other times. And did I mention...no smell! And did I mention...certified green?! read more

High Tail Hotel has been with us through thick and thin. When our pup Sasha needed a little extra attention during her last few weeks, High Tail was there. We seriously could not have gotten through that period of time in our lives without the help, love and care from the folks at High Tail. Our new pup Fresca was still a puppy when we brought her home. We needed to find more ways to burn her energy, and High Tail was there. She loves it there - the people, the other dogs. We never hesitate to bring her in so she can hang out with some of her favorite friends. Just wanted to update my review since we're still absolutely in love with the place. I had to find a safe place for my better half for a week of daycare. She absolutely hates being left alone for more than a couple of hours, and she can howl nonstop in inconsolable heartache. I couldn't leave her at home to suffer and risk upsetting my treasured neighbors. Having checked out several recommended facilities, my very nervous dog chose the High Tail Hotel. Smart dog. The folks at High Tail are exceptionally sensitive to each dog's needs.. The facility is carefully designed to provide an impressive variety of homey, safe spots for any pooch. Best of all: everyone working there clearly loves dogs. I appreciate the pricing structure - really reasonable considering the top notch care provided. I am relieved to have found High Tail, and I will certainly be back again and again. Well, my dog will anyway. p.s. A dog's coat picks up a bit of eau de pee perfume in any indoor facility, so consider having your dog bathed before being picked up. read more

Tasha (our 1-year old Borzoi) has been here quite a lot of times (mostly when I have to go out of town). She's always so excited to come here and play, and always leaves exhausted because she's been having so much time. She gets as much playtime as she wants, which has greatly helped out her socialization (for a sighthound, she's very playful and friendly). At first I was concerned about leaving Tasha, but since that first time, I would never bring her to any other place in the city. And the other reasons we love High Tail: - Victoria, Alan, and the rest of the staff really care about the dogs! - Grassy area that the dogs can play on as much as they want - Green certified (just had that Green party, too, which Tasha loved) - 2 big walks outside included - The place is always kept very clean Needless to say, Tasha and I are very happy with High Tail Hotel. read more

I have known Victoria as a dog walker for over ten years. As a trainer in the area I have had much first hand opportunity to observe not only her ability with dogs but also the level of professionalism she brings to everything she does. This was reaffirmed yet again earlier today when I went to visit her new business, The High Tail Hotel. It's trademark Victoria: thoroughly thought through and designed; beautifully executed and immaculately run. High Tail Hotel has become the most reliable place for us to bring our dog for daycare and for boarding, and everyone that works there is an absolute JOY. This place is a God-send! I can't express how much I appreciate everything they do here. First off, let me tell you that from all the interactions I have had with each and every one of the staff are positive. When I first called to inquire about this place, Lauren answered the phone. She was smiling through the phone and patiently answered all of my questions. In addition, she told me questions to ask other dog hotels/boarding facilities to compare them to High Tail. She never once rushed me off the phone, and that's a HUGE plus in my book since I am in the customer service industry. Sure enough, NO ONE can compare to High Tail at all! I like the fact that they require a meet and greet with every dog that wants to stay there. That comforts me because other places I went to did not & had no criteria for allowing dogs to stay for the day or overnight. That worried me because you never know what could happen when you aren't there. Kianna & Emily were wonderful at the meet & greet. I was pleased to see how well the staff interact with the dogs, they even sleep there with the dogs overnight! My boyfriend and I were going to Hawaii for a work training and my birthday and I was having seperation anxiety leaving my little 1/2 Boston Terrirer, 1/2 Pug Ralphie. I'm sure I was more nervous than he was because he fit right in at High Tail. I was able to call in daily, sometimes even more than once and all the staff were informative & extremely friendly each time I called in. Ralphie even had my friends visit him, that was a major plus in my book. It definitely gave me piece of mind knowing that when I dropped him off with Liv the morning of our trip, that he was in good hands. They were more than accomodating & made our trip much more enjoyable. Kudos to all the staff & owner(s) there at High Tail, keep doing what you're doing cause it's remarkable! Let's just say that my dog has some issues. I love him, but he doesn't love everyone else. The staff at High Tail are so professional, experienced, and wonderful, that they make all his "special needs" seem to disappear. They work with me, and with him, to make his time away from home happy! The facility itself is beyond comfortable for dogs. The indoor play area has synthetic grass that is easy to clean, but looks and feels great. My dog loves to run, run, run and roll, roll, roll all over it. It is a treat for me to know that when I'm away and can't take care of my dog, that someone else is giving him the love and care that he would get at home! read more

We couldn't love High Tail anymore than we do. Our dog is so happy to go there when we drop her off for daycare or boarding. And she always returns happy and exhausted. The staff makes you feel like you have the best dog in the world because they tell you how much they love her and how good she was! We love hearing stories about how she played and who cuddled with her while we were away. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Since it's cage-free, I never feel guilty leaving her, and she even gets to sleep with a human and her favorite friends in a large room at night. Since our dog plays really hard, we also love that she can take a nap whenever she wants. High Tail even gives a discount for rescue dogs, and they are incredibly accommodating with pick-up and drop-off times. They will even pick up or drop off your dog if you can't manage it yourself.
