The finish was damaged, and the top was badly scratched up by years of dogs jumping up on it. When I finally decided to have it refinished, I chose Murphy's based on my daughter's experience with them, and expected them to do as good a job as possible under the circumstances, but they really exceeded my expectations -- it looks wonderful, better than it looked when I first inherited it! I highly recommend this service! I wish I had a Before picture but I was too ashamed of its condition to take one!

Two other floor people whined about the engineered wood and the prefinished hardwood and how much they didn't like working with it, and Juan was like, "Ok, yeah, let's fix it up for you!" He spent time with me to figure out the color, made adjustments in the plan when we realized the risers couldn't be salvaged, and was just fabulous to work with. I've already recommended him to a friend and will have him restore my grandmother's cedar chest. One floor refinisher was almost 2x Juan's price, and one was 1.5x more, and neither were very nice. The selection & value can't be topped, especially if you need cuts made. It's a service that should not be overlooked. The folks in that cutting room are talented, and have gotten me out of a jamb or two. It's also my first stop for hard and soft wood, having purchased Ash, Sapele, and Maple for several projects over the years. Ken is the owner of this operation. I have used his service a number of times in the past and have…read morebeen somewhat satisfied with the paint removal work he has done. In general my dissatisfaction resides in the fact that not a lot of detail is paid to stripping paint from areas where paint may collect, like in the grooves of molding or trim. So, in general, I will end up doing more paint removal work on the wood that he has stripped. However, based on his most recent work I will never use his service again. I provided him a small sample of some 1890's bead board. I had about 120 sq ft of it from a porch ceiling that I removed and was going to reinstall after stain was applied after the paint was removed. He provided me the sample piece. It looked fine with the beads pretty much free of paint. I gave him the rest of the lot and it came back with 90% of the beads still full of paint and even worse the beads were gouged and scraped heavily. It was basically unusable. He cashed my check and after I asked for some compensation he flatly refused. I even offered to not request a monetary refund....just a credit of a portion of the total cost ($700+). He basically said he was not going to consider any compensation whatsoever. PLEASE DON'T EVER BRING ANYTHING OF ANY VALUE TO THIS PLACE!!

When it came to our 4-piece living room sectional, we did not want to get rid of it because we knew we could not replace the style and fit for our living room. We convinced the insurance company to allow us to re-upholster it and we are so glad that we did. We contacted Steve and from that moment on, we knew we made the right decision. He worked with us every step of the way to make sure that we had a fabric that we liked, a fabric that wold complement the renovations to the house, and he guaranteed that he would replicate the style of the original when it was completed. He provided the quote which was reasonable considering the work that was done. He confirmed the construction of the couch that was already 22 years old and made sure that after he was done, it would last at least another 22 years. The work that Steve and his family did to complete the job was nothing short of exceptional. When it was delivered, there were two sounds. The first was WOW and the second was when our jaws fell open and hit the floor. There were no words to describe the remarkable transformation. Not only did they match the original design and all the folds, but the sectional now looks better today than it did the day we bought it.

Steve found they never stripped the old fabric off, just covered it with the new fabric and just added more stuffing instead of replacing the old.
