Been 4-5 years since I've eaten here (since I moved out of Santa Monica) and a lot has changed but also stayed the same. Enjoyed a Munchie's burrito and dark brew coffee. Munchie's burrito has evolved. Still good filling with avo and chipotle mayo. I like the ratio of eggs and meat. Taters are not as crispy as they should be and get lost in the burrito but so what. I've walked by this place many times. It has a cute vibe and the server was nice, but I ordered a matcha and it was definitely made with cooking grade matcha (tan/brown color), wasn't whisked at all (clumps) and made using low quality almond milk (the milk is not the worst, but it just didn't help the drink). I was bummed because it was $8 and probably the worst matcha I've ever been served. I hope everything else is really good -- I haven't tried their food so maybe try for yourself. It's everything you'd want in a coffee shop by the beach. The decor and outdoor patio just feel good They're dog-friendly (huge plus!) and even have the cutest photo wall featuring all the furry friends. There's also a small section of handmade jewelry, body oils, and other lovely items to browse while you wait. Cute little coffee that is also a shack of sorts? Opens early around 7 and I happened to get here around then for coffee. The staff is really nice and friendly! It's a welcoming environment. Can only speak for the coffee - got the Havana iced latte. Espresso with condensed milk and ice. Good balance of sweetness and strength of the coffee. They also sell some canvas totes with their brand and have a really cool interior design set up with the surfing theme. I will be back if I'm in the area for food. First time trying Dogtown and I'm sad I didn't try it sooner. I got the iced vanilla latte and the Vietnamese coffee. Both were way too sweet so asked for half sweetened if you don't like your coffee too sweet. We walked in and ordered then sat outside to eat. I got the Acai bowl and my husband got the munchies burrito with Turkey sausage. I'm not usually a fan of breakfast burritos because I usually feel like I can make them at home, but this one was sooooooooo good! I was sad I didn't get it for myself. Was so glad to have stumbled upon this spot. Only a couple of blocks away from the beach, it's the perfect stop for coffee and brunch, getting work or studying done, doggo spottings, then a nice stroll along the beach. :) I had the latte and a goaty spinach burrito. Coffee came out quickly; however, I'd recommend putting in an order online if you're planning to get food as I noticed food orders took longer - not sure if this is the norm or if it's because I came during the lunch rush. There is a speaker connected to the back patio to announce order names though, so you could just grab your coffee and get seated first! The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Large space in the back with heaters and a small fire pit. I didn't see any plugs, but wifi is available. Street parking. Overall, hip and chill beach-shack vibes. More like dog crap coffee. Yeah, it's a pretty cutesy place. Not exactly located in Venice, but it has all the bells and whistles that makes you feel that you're in the eye of the hurricane of abbot Kinney. I ordered the munchie burrito, and it seemed reasonably price at 13 dollars, but the price was deceptive as I saw about two bits of turkey sausage. When you factor this in, the actual value becomes closer to that of a rip-off. Now they use a very , very mild chipotle sauce. It has the consistency of that of a vinaigrette dressing. It has absolutely zero flavor and the contents of the wheat tortilla burrito also adapt all the negative inherent aspects because it's doused in the sauce. They couldn't even offer me some tapatio or hot sauce because , you know, they're mean 'ol bad corporations. Look, Brotendo, just because you're small business and hipster as 'f' doesn't make your food inherently great, or even decent. It makes it a smug, sanctimonious front when the food doesn't back up the ideology. The munchie burrito is horrible. It's bland. I couldn't taste literally anything with that sauce. read more

5 Stars down to 3 Stars in 1 year. I started this review a year ago and forgot to finish it. At the time I was ready to give 5 stars based mostly on their breakfast burrito. I do appreciate that it's made with organic eggs! But Yelp reminded me that I never finished my review--too bad for Dogtown, 'cause no way do they deserve those 5 Stars based on my recent experience. I just went in again for a breakfast burrito this past week. How they have fallen off their game. The love is not there. The burrito, while it still has the same ingredients, now disappoints. The onion in the "pico de gallo" was cut into such large pieces that some bites of burrito were nothing more than tortilla and onion. The egg seems to be cooked plain, sans seasoning, and laid into the tortilla separate from other ingredients. So in this way, some bites of burrito are nothing more than tortilla and plain egg. If you've ever had a pizza with all the ingredients on one side of the pie while the other is naked, you can understand why distribution of ingredients is important--and more so in a burrito. This takes a little care. Whoever made my burrito at Dogtown did not care. One of these fun parts of the Munchies Burrito is that is has tater tots hiding here and there in the burrito. Tater tots are meant to be crispy and brown on the outside while soft and creamy on the inside. I think my burrito had a potato product, but it was unrecognizable as tater tots. It arrived in my burrito in the form of tiny bits of mushy potato. I think. I mean it's only because I was expecting tater tots that I think that's what it was. Maybe it wasn't even potato--hard to tell when the pieces are so small, white, and mushy. I used to recommend this breakfast burrito to everyone. No longer will I. Finally, the service: was totally stoner. We ordered 3 mochas. Two arrived in small mugs, one in a large mug. One was not hot, and in fact so cool, it think we got someone else's mocha that had just been sitting around for awhile. One had a fancy design in the milk foam, two did not. One in our order was supposed to decaf. When we asked the employee if this was the decaf one, holding it up for them to confirm, they responded with a confusing grunt. Was that a yes or no? One person in our group ordered a plain old-fashioned cup of drip coffee. They killed it. No notes So there's that. Small victories. read more

This is a cool cafe a few blocks from the pier in the Dogtown neighborhood. It's a gritty little coffee shop with just a few indoor seats but a massive covered seating area in the back. There was a short line the whole time I was there and it moved steadily. No one was in a rush. Just chill vibes. The coffee was good and hot and my cookie was also good. I apologize that I didn't take pictures. I had hopped in for a cuppa and a work call. There were all kinds of people there and it's a great place to people watch.
