Site of the original Team Zephyr and Jeff Ho Skateboards. If you are a skateboarding fan or have seen the Dogtown documentary or movie this is a must visit. The interior is deceptively small, if you head outside from where you pick up your order and go to the back they have a very large back patio with way more seating and with lots of shaded areas. The interior is decorated with a lot of skateboarding and surfing history and there is a small selection of gifts for sale, some made by the staff. Right near the register is a ton of pictures of dogs. Breakfast Burritos: Steaks, eggs, potato, and onion and we also tried the sausage and eggs. Both are well sized for us and not too large and came on wheat tortillas. They were surprisingly good and I would order again. Parking: limited metered parking Seating: a few indoor tables and mainly outdoor enclosed patio seating. Not well maintained. Crowds varies a great deal there. Some I am scared to sit next to. The worst thing: we order iced tea latte. Was charged iced tea latte. And we double check with the server a few times that it's the latte not just iced tea. And what we got? Iced tea!!!! I went in for coffee and tried their Vietnamese iced coffee. It was anything but a vietnamese iced coffee. Service was great. Really friendly. But the coffee just didn't work for me. I don't see myself coming back here for coffee, but maybe this is more your style. The place does have a solid history and their merchandise is really great. read more

Super cool eclectic cafe with really good breakfast options for all likes. They roast their own beans and have a variety of tasty coffee. We had their lattes iced and hot and were lige saving after a night of partying. The breakfast burritos were bomb and reasonably priced. The avocado toast beautiful and delicious. They have plenty of seating inside and out as well as many tables, games and books in the back part of the business. Its very cool dog friendly surfer vibe and a must if you're in town. Been 4-5 years since I've eaten here (since I moved out of Santa Monica) and a lot has changed but also stayed the same. Enjoyed a Munchie's burrito and dark brew coffee. Munchie's burrito has evolved. Still good filling with avo and chipotle mayo. I like the ratio of eggs and meat. Taters are not as crispy as they should be and get lost in the burrito but so what. There was a long line so it took a while to be served. It had more "sit down breakfast" items than I expected, but the options were happily accepted. Let's be real - the cravings are real and I've already had a coffee today so I noted to make the latte decaf on my order. Really disappointing experience. I ordered the Salty Dog iced coffee, their signature drink, and it literally tasted like straight milk with barely any coffee flavor. I asked the manager if he could add a little more coffee, and he wanted to charge me an extra $1.11. He said that's how their signature drink is made and that it was basically a matter of preference. If a coffee tastes like nothing but milk, I'd expect them to at least try to make it right. Unfortunately, terrible coffee and disappointing customer service. read more

In an industry where restaurants are struggling to stay open and the mastery of Gourmet Cuisine and or even simplicity of properly prepared foods, restaurants are shutting down left and right in Los Angeles and here poorly prepared, unprofessional and non-hospitable staff keeps their doors open. I've walked by this place many times. It has a cute vibe and the server was nice, but I ordered a matcha and it was definitely made with cooking grade matcha (tan/brown color), wasn't whisked at all (clumps) and made using low quality almond milk (the milk is not the worst, but it just didn't help the drink). I was bummed because it was $8 and probably the worst matcha I've ever been served. I hope everything else is really good -- I haven't tried their food so maybe try for yourself. I wish I could give zero stars. It was my first time here. I came to get a matcha one afternoon and it tasted disgusting. Pure water, was not even mixed in correctly. Did not taste like matcha. I went back inside as soon as I took a sip to ask for a refund or maybe to trade it for another drink instead, and they said the best they could do to make up for it was for me to purchase another drink and get 50% off that drink. I was in the area and discovered Dogtown Coffee while searching nearby, and I'm so glad I did. I definitely recommend this spot! it's the perfect beachy cafe with an amazing laid-back vibe. It's everything you'd want in a coffee shop by the beach. The decor and outdoor patio just feel good They're dog-friendly (huge plus!) and even have the cutest photo wall featuring all the furry friends. There's also a small section of handmade jewelry, body oils, and other lovely items to browse while you wait. The service was excellent everyone was so friendly and welcoming I ordered a double espresso over ice with a splash of milk, and honestly, it's one of the best I've had in a while: smooth, strong, and not overwhelming at all. Cute little coffee that is also a shack of sorts? Opens early around 7 and I happened to get here around then for coffee. The staff is really nice and friendly! It's a welcoming environment. Can only speak for the coffee - got the Havana iced latte. Espresso with condensed milk and ice. Good balance of sweetness and strength of the coffee. First time trying Dogtown and I'm sad I didn't try it sooner. I got the iced vanilla latte and the Vietnamese coffee. Both were way too sweet so asked for half sweetened if you don't like your coffee too sweet. We walked in and ordered then sat outside to eat. I got the Acai bowl and my husband got the munchies burrito with Turkey sausage. I'm not usually a fan of breakfast burritos because I usually feel like I can make them at home, but this one was sooooooooo good! I was sad I didn't get it for myself.
