Dogtopia gets a 5 star rating because the staff is AMAZING. I have been sending my dog there for about a year. He is also a "jetsetter" visiting many places in our travels. Dogtopia is tops for safety and transparency. Pros: Management is awesome Staff is well trained and do a great job of providing a fun, but more imporantly safe place for hyper 1.5 year They know my dog by name and his personality Cons: The place does not have an outdoor area. For most dogs it is fine. My sister's dog visits and he comes back smelling like a little angel, but my dog is rambunctious and always throwing himself on the ground resuliting in a- sometimes- quite stinky dog. I still give them 5 stars cause I love the staff just that much! read more

so well run, staff is "unflappable"-- even when only given super short notice you are dropping off your dog for the day! Even tho Charlie hadn't been there in months, and has had a few challenges recently-- the place is so wonderful sometimes I wish I could spend a day there! read more

We highly recommend Dogtopia! From the owner to the staff they are best in class! My wife and I are big big fans of Dogtopia and our dog Teddy is an even bigger fan!!! You and your dog will not be disappointed! read more

I'd like to post an update to my December 2023 review. I still cannot say enough good things about the team here at Dogtopia. They have turned my shy and fearful rescue Bully Boxer into a confident and sassy girl. They have so many fun activities for the pups. My favourite day is photo day, the results of which are amazing. Buttons loves the bubble parties, the dance parties and the pool party. This year Buttons has faced some health challenges and they have taken it in stride. They give her extra attention when she is unable to join open play. The team will also bring Buttons' BFFF in to see her when she is separated from the group. She lubs her hoomans and get mad at me if she doesn't get to go to Dogtopia every day. Buttons still gives Dogtopia Bloomington four paws up. I still give it 5 stars. read more

I've taken my Bully Boxer in for a few visits recently. She LOVES it! She gets so excited when she realizes where we are. The staff has been amazing with her, which has been so reassuring to this dog mama who adopted an abused rescue dog. We had an issue with a bath done by the groomers, but they made it right. Buttons gives them 4 paws up, and I agree with her. read more

I've used them plenty of times in the past and been pleased with their response to my previous dog having a seizure. Unfortunately my most recent experience was upsetting. My young dog was returned to me with a raw nose and covered in filth. They told me that his raw nose was anxiety from being crated, but he's crate trained. I was told they didn't know why they didn't notice it. I checked the video feeds daily and found dogs weren't getting attention. The dogs just walked around following the attendants, looking for affection. They likely needed more potty breaks. The staff couldn't keep up with cleaning up after accidents. There seemed to be too many dogs in the one room. Since bringing him home, he's barked at every person he sees, even me, to get attention. He wasn't a very loud dog prior to this. I feel so bad for my dog, who is only 1 year. This wasn't his first boarding. but now that he's had one bad experience, I fear that will make them stressful from now on. Upon reading more reviews I understand why he was so filthy. I'm shocked that they don't have a dedicated potty area at the very least. No one likes to urinate or defecate where they eat or sleep. That makes me feel sad and guilty for having him board there. read more

Forever grateful for the dogtopia team for taking care of my pup! He did a week stay in boarding and was well taken care of, and they included him in the week'a planned activities too! They were communicative and even dealt with me calling mid-week to check in and schedule a spa day for the little guy on his last day. read more

Owners and staff are amazing people. They do a great job with our dog Hoss. Who happens to weigh 170 pounds. (Not an easy task) Highly Recommend read more

We were initially really pleased with Dogtopia of Bloomington but they have proven to have terrible inept management and untrained staff. After an incident they called me twice, left no voicemail, then text messaged me to ask me to call them yesterday. When I called back they claimed my 10 month old puppy was being aggressive for no reason. Echo questioned me persistently on the phone about whether "something had happened at home" and claimed this had been going on for "weeks" but nobody notified me or apparently her prior to this. She claimed my dog ripped someone's pants and that it was enough to make that staff member "freaked out and shooken up". What is that staff member doing in the puppy room if they can't handle a rowdy puppy tugging on clothing? I suspect something happened between the staff member and my puppy that they don't want me to know about. I requested video evidence and Echo claimed they could not "release the footage - dogtopia franchise wide rule". She did not offer to show me the video in person either. When asked to see policies, we were told that we had to wait for Echo and to schedule a meeting. Due to this claimed aggressive behavior they decided it would be appropriate to leave my puppy alone all day in a "suite". Wildly inappropriate to lock my dog up for someone having a rip in their pants. I will not be using Dogtopia going forward. I have lost all my confidence in the management of this facility and the staff's ability to work with dogs appropriately. My puppy has shown no signs of aggression at home. read more

Omg where to start is the question! They do not have groomers who actually clean the dogs. They are young kids which I'm all for if they wouldn't charge outrageous prices for ... boarding your dogs ... please be prepared for your dogs to come back with injuries despite paying for the extra price for suites ! The response from the manager Echo will be "i wasn't here" the response from the owner is "im sorry I don't know what happened " my dogs nose is completely RAW and was told he was put in the crate for naps! Im a livid I would rate them a zero !!!!! read more

Had my senior lab here twice. Both times they decided to cage dry her instead a blow dry. Both times I got her back damp. When I touched her my hand came back wet and covered in fur. Not much of a de-shed. Just disappointed. read more

We had the best experience with Dogtopia for daycare. Coming in from out of town, I was nervous to leave my 3 chihuahuas someplace new for the weekend. The staff was really sweet and attentive. They hugged my dogs hello and good bye each day - they genuinely seemed happy to see them! It was a huge relief. Each time I had checked the cameras (such a cool added bonus), all of the dogs in the room were getting attention and interaction from the staff. The attendants were playing with the dogs, letting them crawl on their laps, petting and talking to the dogs. I really wanted to find a place that had this level of interaction, I have had some experiences in the past elsewhere where that was not the case. My dogs seemed to be well taken care of and were exhausted at the end of each day. The staff was so pleasant to work with and the facility is really clean and well maintained. I would absolutely recommend them! read more

Absolutely awesome! Superior staff and facility versus others in the area. Max has a great time playing with the other pups! We have also used their grooming and bathing services and they do a great job for a reasonable price. read more

Had a good first experience with boarding in April. My Morkie did great. But I picked her up after 9 days over the 4th and noticed she was snorting, which I chalked up to excitement. But she continued snorting all day and night and two days later, she is still congested and sick. She can't sleep through the night, and can't bark because she is so hoarse. I called the day after picking her up and asked why no one notified me that she was sick and all I got was "there were no notes that she was sick." Which, to me, is unacceptable, especially considering the price I paid for her care. Clearly, she didn't become sick the minute I picked her up. I'll be looking for another boarding option in the future. read more

The care my dog Bandit receives here is impecable. The staff is so wonderful (especially Echo)! Their prices are reasonable. I love that I can check up on my dog at any time. Their groomers do a very nice job. My Jack Russell Terrier goes their Monday through Friday and spends his weekend resting for his next week at Dogtopia. We have boarded bandit there quite a bit as well and have had an equally great experience as daycare. Check this place out for sure! read more

Our dog enjoyed every minute in this place. Staff is awesome and sent us some pictures while he in playing in day care. Our dog slept like a baby when he got home. I will definitely recommend this place. They don't have outside play area for dog but who cares if your dog is having best time inside. read more

Needed a place to board my German Shepherds and read great reviews for Dogtopia/Bloomington. Made an appointment to do a trial meeting with my dogs. Upon pulling into the parking lot of a small strip mall my first thought was how can they board dogs in such a small place. I mean where do the dogs go to play outside? Well, the dogs do not get to go outside- like NEVER! NOT EVEN TO DO THEIR BUSINESS! What?? The play room had kennels cage to cage around the perimeter of the play room. The dogs eat, sleep, play and urinate/defecate in this room! Needless to say, I packed up my pups to go, literally 20 minutes after arriving and they charged me a $25+ tax per dog fee! I wouldn't leave a rat in that place! Honestly, I can't believe anyone would leave their pet there and surprised they haven't been shut down! Yuck! read more

I booked a grooming appointment for our dog. I received a call back from Kathy indicating that they had checked with our vet and the bordetella vaccine had expired. I booked an appointment with our vet a week before the grooming and called Dogtopia back the same day to let them know the issue had been taken care of. They indicated our dog was good to go for her grooming. We showed up the Saturday of the appointment and were told they could not find our dog or the appointment in their system but would be happy to rebook. NO THANKS! read more

As a new dog mom, I was super stressed about leaving my puppy overnight in an unfamiliar place. The staff here made me feel totally at ease. We left our puppy Scarlett for the first time over the Thanksgiving holiday while we were traveling. She totally loved it and was exhausted from all the play when we picked her up. Now Scarlett spends at least three days/week at Dogtopia and she gets so excited when she knows where we're headed. She pulls me inside every time. I love that they know her and are happy to see her as soon as we walk in. The space is kept very clean and I love that I can see a super clear video of Scarlett during the day on their webcam. They take such good care of her! read more

I brought my puppy to Dogtopia for her first day of daycare. It will be her last. Note she has been in daycare at another facility from 4 to 8 months and came to Dogtopia well socialized with both people and dogs/puppies. Thank goodness for the webcams or I would have thought she just had a super active first day when I picked her up! The dogs paced back and forth or walked basically in circles until noon. The morning room attendant had NO positive interaction with any of the dogs (petting, hugging, smiling). She physical touched the dogs only to push them away from each other, put them into kennels or leash them up. I understand that managing a room of dogs requires breaking up aggressive groups and play, but that wasn't even the case here. Also note, there is no outdoor space, so the dogs pee and poop in the same space they 'play' eat and nap in. Imagine how much time the attendant focuses on cleaning up messes all day? Yet, my puppy's feet were soaked in urine when I picked her up. Note, they do have a bathing service to address that. I made my concerns known to the manager who was there when I picked up my puppy. She was empathetic said she'd follow up with the morning attendant and didn't charge me for the day and said she hoped I'd be back. I appreciated this a lot but honestly most of the issues are systemic - the lack of space, one attendant per room, nothing for the dogs to do, little engagement from the caretakers and the peeing and pooping all in the same small space. It all seems a bit inhumane for everyone involved. read more

We took our dog to Dogtopia and were immediately impressed with the staff and the facility. The location is super convenient in relation to my office so I can drop my pup off before work. The facility is immaculate and has various play rooms and spa areas. I love that they offer a variety of services - spa, boarding, day care, and my favorite part is the webcam so I can check on my dog while he's playing. The staff is incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They took great care of our dog and he had so much fun. We will definitely be back! read more

Dogtopia is wonderful! After my dogs eval, they told me (which I had an idea of, also) that my dog needs to learn to take queues from other dogs and she gets over excited by other dogs (she's a puppy, still learning!). Anyway, Dogtopia has been wonderful with her. Using their methods to help her learn. You can see in their interactions that they truly care about these pets! The location is convenient and easy to find. It is clean and inviting. If you have questions or concerns they are very helpful in answering! An added benefit is their additional services that make your life more convenient! Dogtopia is a good price and definitely, definitely worth checking out!!!! read more

Brought our Husky to Dogtopia. First of all my husband and I both called for a price and were both told the same thing. The girl seemed very intimidated by our dog when he was dropped off. When he was picked up the cost was $45 more than the price we were told on the phone. We were not allowed to see our dog until we paid. When we brought him home he was shedding worse than before we brought him there and his paw pads were cut very unevenly. I contacted the general manager - she said she would get back to me - never did - contacted her again - she finally got back to me the next day and the only resolution was to have the original groomer do a touch up grooming. The groomer said our dog is in heavy shedding time which she told my husband. First place she never told my husband anything and he is not in his heavy shedding time. So a touch up grooming was not an acceptable resolution. We paid a lot of money - we wanted a partial refund. They would not provide a refund of any kind. Please don't waste your hard earned $$ on this place. Too bad they don't think much of customer service as we were going to starting using them for daycare - boarding and grooming. They really lost out on this one! read more

This place is great, clean. My dog went there for the first time yesterday, and he loved it and was tired when I picked him up. It's great that you can watch your pup while they're there also. Echo is amazing and my dog loves her. I'm only docking a star and not giving 5 stars because when I picked my dog up, the lady who checked me out asked was I the owner of MY dog, and she said she asked because I looked young. Mind you I had on a mask. I don't understand why she needed to ask me that. It rubbed me the wrong way. Don't know if I'll be taking my dog back here or not for that reason! read more

We had been bringing our puppy to Dogtopia since she was about 4 months old (she is 7 months old now). We really enjoyed the staff and how tired our pup was when she would come home. However, on 2 separate occasions, our puppy came back with puncture wounds to her body. Most recently was after an overnight. She had 2 puncture wounds on her snout and her neck. Puppies/dogs play hard and accidents happen, BUT no one on the staff mentioned this to us nor did they have any idea that it happened (both times). One of the selling points for this establishment is that they have a "trained" worker in the rooms with the dogs to break up aggressive behavior and keep an eye on the dogs. I also found out that upon dog owner arrival, employees are suppose to do body checks to look for such wounds. That also did not happen. We are extremely disappointed in the lack of communication and the inability to meet the standards that they set to ensure my dog's (or any dog's) safety. I cannot NOT recommend this place more. read more

I was immediately impressed by the level of care and concern (& fun!) from the Dogtopia Bloomington staff. Dogtopia is always kept clean and they make my dog, Cheddar feel like a part of their family. Whenever he gets a grooming, he comes home happy and smelling like a strawberry! Echo is especially awesome. She is one of Cheddar's favorite staff members. She is always positive, enthusiastic and you can tell she has a true passion for caring for all of these pups. Thank you for all of your hard work and daily dedication to our fur babies. read more

Lolly loves her time at Dogtopia in Bloomington. She is treated with so much love, I never feel bad leaving her in their care! I appreciate that the facility also can handle grooming, baths and nail trims. New facility and great location too! read more

We used Dogtopia for a weekend of daycare because we had good experiences with having him groomed there. Big mistake. There is no outdoor area, so dogs poop and pee in the same area that they play and hangout in all day. Our dog, who has NEVER urinated in the house since we adopted him (over 10 years ago), peed in the house twice. You CAN teach old dogs new tricks. We have not taken him back for daycare since. Then the groomer at Dogtopia changed. The next 2 grooming, appointments were very disappointing. The 1st time around, the groomer told us she nicked him a tiny bit while trimming his nails, but that she tended to the wound and said he was fine. He limped a bit when we got home, but soon recovered. The 2nd time, was too much. Exact same situation; groomer nicked our dog while trimming his nails. The difference was, this time the groomer blamed our dog for her incompetence and our dog limped for over a week and whimpered when gently touched on his paw. We will NOT be returning and will recommend our friends and family not go to Dogtopia. read more
