This place was a great solution for an easy drop off and pick up day care. They now require a reservation and will turn you away. Not a fan of this policy especially when they are the most expensive day care around and kennel dogs for ours. People there are super friendly and the facility is always clean and inviting. I am so sickened by our experience here. We have a 3 year old Weimaraner that is very sweet and a bit on the submissive side. We left him here for a 3 day getaway and during our time away, tried to watch him on the cameras, which included him cowering in the corner most of the time and then much of the time (during open hours), the cameras were cut off. When my husband picked him up, he was told that he had such a great time. Although we knew different from watching him sit in the corner, we decided to not mention anything. My husband immediately brought him home and gave him a bath as usual, and he began bleeding with 15-20 plus lacerations that opened after getting the bath. It was apparent these were caused at his stay at Dogtopia and then reopened/irritated when given his bath. When my husband called to complain, he was told that there was an "incident report", but it wasn't that bad. Of course, the "incident" was never even mentioned until we complained regarding the lacerations all over his body. This place is horrible and I am just sickened over the care and monitoring in this facility. Also, I will mention that our sweet dog, Jack, has had multiple vet visits after staying here. We understand things can happen with dogs, but this crossed the line. Horrible conditions and horrible response from employees that seem to not care at all for these pups. read more

Friendly staff that makes both my dog and I feel comfortable. Packages where I can get discounts on boarding and play days as we travel frequently. Cameras so I can check on my pet all day or when I have a free moment. BUT, most of all I like your services as my girl wags her tail from the moment I get her out of the car as she knows where she's going :-). You are not just a boarding and day play location to us...you are family. Love the rubber mats and outdoor playtime. And the best part is my girl comes home so exhausted that she eats, cuddles and sleeps through the night. For anyone who loves their dogs, and I know you do, this is the place for you! Hands down the best dog daycare and boarding option in greater Nashville. Ownership has an open door policy and will give new visitors a tour of their facility. The staff are genuine dog lovers and incredibly attentive when it comes to all of the animals that stay with them. In terms of care and service, one of our dogs (who has sensitive needs) had to see the vet while were out of town. Management went out of their way to take our dog to *our vet,* provided timely updates and were very accommodating to the dog's needs while she was boarding. We are incredibly grateful for this level of care, and we will never take our pups anywhere else. read more

The entire team is amazing, Mike was super helpful with plan options and worked with us to make the best choice for our needs and make sure we weren't overspending. The facility is cleaned religiously and they make sure pups don't get overwhelmed. Our dog had never been excited to go to daycare until we brought her here! She's shy and would act anxious or like she was in trouble, but the fact that she gets to play pretty much the whole time and was matched with similar temperment and energy dogs vs being crated the majority of the time was a game changer. Dogtopia Hickory Plaza is really just the best of the best. The staff is amazing, the facility is top notch (and so clean!!). We use Dogtopia primarily for boarding and always drop Spot off knowing she is well cared for and safe. Specifically I love Dogtopia because they are really the first group that "gets" Spot and frankly they have helped me "get" her too! Spot has some old coonhound quirks and they just love her right through them, bless them!! Dogtopia is not just a place to take your dog, it is a place for your dog to get top notch care, love, and attention while you are away from TRUE dog professionals!! If I could give this place negative stars I would. My manager boarded his dog here when he went on vacation for a few days and when he got him back he couldn't walk. His leg was broken and they had no explanation for it & unfortunately the poor dog got an infection from it and was to old of age to go through surgery that he had to be put him to rest. This is absolutely uncalled for & this place should be held accountable! This just happened a week ago, do NOT take your puppies here! read more

Susie and the team at Hickory Plaza were great! My GSP was boarded for a week. Never had any problems with the cameras. They were responsive and easily coordinated drop off on the holiday. The dog came back tired and we'll taken care of. They obviously followed feeding instructions and didn't mind the occasional check-in. read more

It has been over a year since my experience and I am finally able to share as my dog has fully recovered and I will not be taking legal action. Which btw is the only way they said they would allow me to see the footage of this incident. I use to take my dog 3-5 times a week while I was at work to play. Initially it was a positive experience. They were clearly having staffing issues which I can only imagine have become increasingly worse in this current climate, and it showed through my dog's consistent injuries. All of the sudden I was picking him up with bite marks, an eye injury from another dog piercing his lid and scratching his pupil with his nail and then the last straw was a major gash to his chest and what was unreported as major head trauma. They took him directly to the vet after receiving my consent and covered the costs. Beyond that is was a mess. With each injury the manager blamed my dog's behavior, yet some how he was always the only one injured. The last and worst incident was said to be from him jumping on an employee and then falling onto another dog that then attacked him. Which again, I had zero confirmation of because the footage would have to be requested through a lawsuit to be viewed. I was very suspicious as any dog parent would be, but focused on my dog's recovery. There was no head injury reported so it was never looked at when he was looked over by the vet. The next day a very large mass rose up on his head between his ears where it was clear he had made impact with the ground or something of equal resistance. 3 days later his seizures began. I had to document and administer meds for mild to moderate seizures for 5 months and it was confirm as they started to improve and lapse more time apart that they were likely from head trauma. Fortunately the trauma seems to have mended and we haven't experienced an episode in over a year. Accidents happen, but if you are understaffed, then I would much rather be inconvenienced as a customer in the interest of the safety of my animal. It is obviously that Dogtopia's priorities differed and I regret putting my dog through that experience and only wanted to follow through with reporting and recommending participating in their program with great caution. We have had much better experiences with Rover in Nashville. Many highly reviewed caretakers who seem to be much more qualified and capable of quality care. read more

Mike and team are amazing! I am a worried dog mom and this was the first time taking my pup Roxy to daycare. They all went the extra mile to make sure she had a great first day. Mike even called me to let me know my baby Roxy was taking a nap and having the best time. I am so happy I found Dogtopia, you can tell they really care for the dogs and know each dog very well. The entire staff at this place is amazing. They know how to handle dogs, and they love on them constantly! When there's anything going down, they know how to handle everything! We are worried pet parents, and love being able to check in on the camera during the day when the staff is there. We have even been a bit nervous not seeing the pups and have called to check in and the staff (especially Mike) has always been so understanding and reassuring. We are so grateful to have stumbled upon this place! Most boarding places nickel and dime you for services, snuggles, being out of their crates for daycare, treats, whatever. This place, never. Everything is just included in the rate! Plus most of the time that we pick them up when they've been there more than a few days, they've not only bathed our dogs, but even washed their blankets! I really wanted to like this place. I really did. Our 2 dogs stayed here for the first time the last 2 nights over Thanksgiving as our regular boarding facility was full when we made our reservation. Went for the meet and greet and everything was great. My dogs both love other people and other dogs. They both sleep on the bed with us at night and we were told at the meet and greet that the dogs would have their own kennel but would be beside each other. The day before we were due to leave them the other kennel called and said that we were up on the waiting list and could board our dogs there. We decided to go ahead and keep the Dogtopia reservation. We really liked the idea of being able to see them on video cam while we were gone. So, we dropped them off and started driving out of town. Everyone downloaded the app and we watched them playing with all the other dogs. Life is good and everyone is happy. About 6pm that night they shut down the video cams. Issue #1: We woke up Thanksgiving morning expecting to be able to watch our dogs play all day. But no, the video cams are down. All day long. Issue #2: We get on the app Friday am at 9.15 and all the dogs are still in their crates and employees are just starting to let them out. One of my dogs crate has been pulled to the middle of the floor where she is by herself. She's a yellow lab and likes people but LOVES other dogs, especially her brother. They have been separated all night which is not happy for her and the opposite of what we were told. Issue #3: As soon as the dogs had their crates open my male dog went straight for 2 unattended mop buckets and began to drink while we all screamed at the phone for him to stop. What's in the bucket? Bleach and water? Mop water that has been soaking up urine and feces? Clean water in a dirty mop bucket? So we called them and let the young lady who answered know what we saw. We were worried he needed to go to the vet if there were toxic chemicals in the water. She said that it was just water and that there was nothing to be worried about. But they didn't do anything about the buckets. So as soon as the other dogs came running back in from going outside to potty they went straight for the mop buckets and drank too. So we arrive back in town and I go to retrieve the dogs. I walk in and ask for the manager. The young lady calls Mike who I believe/assume is the owner. I explain the 3 issues we've had and he listens intently, asks questions and agrees that the issues we had and doesn't try to defend anything. He handled me just like he should have. He explained that they had been open less than a year, that this was their first major holiday and that they were overwhelmed with dogs. I get it. He then asks if he can comp our next stay to give them another opportunity to get it right. I explained to him that we rarely board our animals as my sister is usually able to keep them but wasn't able to this year. So he asked how he could make up for it. So I said that the first night was good so split the difference and meet in the middle. He immediately agreed. Even though we haven't been happy about the way it's gone we're willing to give the benefit of the doubt and ready to give them a second chance the next time we board. No negative review, no hard feelings, everything's good. Issue #4: So we get home and the dogs conk out. I expect them to be tired. They're off schedule and have been running and playing with other dogs for 2 days. So I go to nuzzle with them and the smell is bad. As in, have to take a bath now bad. They're good sized dogs so the best way to bathe them is to put them in the shower with me. As soon as the water hits them the smell of pee is overwhelming. Both of my dogs are crate trained and can easily go 12 hours holding it. They must have been there 14+. We will not be giving Dogtopia a second chance. No matter how nice and friendly they are, they completely failed. read more
