I usually can't be bothered to write a review (this is a first) but I feel I need to warn people as animals can't protect themselves and I don't want anybody to unknowingly risk their dog's health!
To be fair, I have taken my dog here 3 times before and everything went extremely well - the haircuts were excellent and my dog seemed happy - I thought I'd found my groomer for life. But the fourth visit was devestating and I think it's worrying enough that it cancels out any positives as you just can't take a risk with your dog's health for a "good haircut".
10 days ago when I went to pick my Yorkie up after being groomed, the owner/master groomer told me she had noticed her eye was a little red but she didn't know why or when it happened. When she brought my dog out, my Yorkie was super nervous and very scared - totally unlike herself - she jumped into my arms and then tried to run out the door. I looked at her eye and it wasn't just red from irritation, the entire white was a solid dark red like the entire eyeball was full of blood! I was extremely worried and I questioned how it happened but didn't get a straight answer. The lady said she just noticed it and was it like that from before - what??! I kept questioning her and she finally said that they had a really tough time clipping the toenails and it took "3 people to restrain her" - my 10 lb dog?! I went straight to the vet who was shocked and said it could only be done by trauma to the eye (either they banged her against something or worse they hit her). The prognosis was stuctural damage to the eye wall and a burst blood vessel inside the eye...definitely not something you expect your dog to come home with.
First of all, what the hell did they do to my dog to give her physical trauma and make her so scared? It haunts me that I will never know... On top of that, how could they even think to tell me they "don't know" what happened to my dog while she was in their care? Third, why didn't they take her to the vet right away, call me right away or even mention it when they called me for pickup? Shouldn't you notify an owner right away if their pet is injured? Fourth, if what they told me is true about using 3 people to restrain her, why did they even let it get to that? If she was that stressed out, didn't they care what they were doing to the animal's health ? Should there ever be a case where it's acceptable to use the force of 3 people on an itty bitty 10 lb dog?? On top of it all, I had to pay for the grooming/abuse (I was too worried about getting my dog to the vet to argue), and the vet bill, and they never even seemed worried about my dog or called to find out if she was okay.
If you work with animals you should be putting their best interest at heart, and after this experience I feel this place just wanted to get the job done and get their money. Even if I give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an accident (which I do think it probably was), I can't trust a place that has this big an accident. What is even worse, when my dog was injured, they did nothing to care for her or inform me, and were only concerned with taking my money and avoiding blame.
Every time we take our pets to the groomers we are entrusting them with their care and wellbeing. By any standard this groomer has shown she doesn't deserve that trust. Please don't take your dog here - do you really want to take a chance with your dog's health and wellbeing? I feel so guilty that my dog went through this and I wasn't there to protect her - don't let this be you! read more
