Good and affordable place to take your dogs to while visiting Jackson. May not be the fanciest place but both my hounds enjoyed their time there. Staff was pleasant to work with in person from the start even though I could never get ahold of anyone on the phone. They are good about responding back via email in a timely manner. We were very concerned to leave our dog here in this horrible establishment but before we left we were assured we could get in contact should we want to Pick up our pet. Less than 1 hour after we left we sent emails and left voicemails and nothing, no response. Basically after hours at night or on Sunday they will hold your dog hostage and not respond. No answer was provided from the owner on if he received our voicemails or emails. We showed up before the owner arrived the next morning and our dog was covered in pee. And the owner demanded his $24 before even releasing the dog. Unbelievable. You can't even see the place your dog will stay because you are not allowed in the back for "insurance reasons". If you are ok leaving your dog hostage in what amounts to a cold & noisy kennel go for it. I would rather sleep in the car with the dog than leave her there one more night. read more

We sent our three dogs here today. We hoped that some time in "daycare" would help them acclimate to other dogs and teach them manners. Drop-off was uneventful and quick. The man who checked us in was polite and efficient. In the other room, dogs were barking (of course), yet a female was back there yelling at them to "shut the hell up." OK, that's not the best way to speak to them, but I get it at 7:30 in the morning; that's a lot of noise for someone to take. Our girls are not always quiet, and I'm sure I've said worse to my own. Hours later, we go to pick up our dogs and are there just before 4 PM. We were waiting until four to avoid the "convenience fee" of early pick-up. While waiting, I stood outside looking into a part of the outdoor play area. I was appalled watching a young lady with all the dogs. She hit one dog when it got near her. Push another away from where she sat by kicking at it. She was yelling at the ones barking by screaming, "Shut the hell up, shut the fuck up." She then sat there rubbing her temples. OK, people have bad days - but it pissed me off! The dogs seemed more weary of her than not. The thought of our three dogs being treated like that made me so mad. What else happened when we weren't there? I'm not sure if this has happened to others, but it just made me feel uncomfortable knowing someone like her was watching our dogs. Our girls are rough and tumble, active, dirty, barking, loving, silly dogs - not babied or pampered, but I'm not going to pay someone to watch them and act like that. Austen and his crew are very kind and are wonderful with dogs. Our dog Grover is always excited for his daycare days! It's great to know he'll be having fun in a safe, clean place with people who adore him and who he adores. Yes, even the outdoor pens are concrete. Would it be great if there was a doggy daycare in town that had grass? Yes, it would! But we don't even have a year-round dog park here, and no doggy business in Jackson could afford the amount of space that grassy yards would require. Grover sometimes comes back stinky, but so do kids going to kindergarten (we have seen that the DogJax team is constantly cleaning! But if one dog is stinky, all the dogs he plays with are stinky). All of that said, DogJax is by far the safest and most reliable place for our dog to get social playtime off-lead on a regular basis, and we trust the staff to treat him well and meet his needs. We dropped off our 1.3 year old French Bulldog at DogJax a couple days ago so we could go explore Grand Teton for a day and a half, but the second we stepped inside of the place, we could tell something was off. The whole place stunk of pee, was terribly overcrowded with pups, and we could hear the attendants yelling at the dogs telling them to shut up from inside the lobby- not very comforting for a place you're about to leave your baby. We tried to explain to the attendants that he was a picky eater, had allergies, etc., but they assured us that they "had experience with these types of dogs." They took him away without allowing us to say goodbye and I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach as he watched our car drive away. As we got to the hotel, we decided that we would cut our trip short by a day so he would only have to be there for one night, but then realized that we couldn't because the next day was Sunday and they are not open on Sundays. I have never heard of any other facility that does that. When we arrived, we saw him among a group of 25-30 other small dogs that were crowded into a pen (maybe about 8x10 feet, couldn't really tell), with little space for them to run around. When they brought him out, he RAN to me and I realized he was soaking wet, smelled of pee, had multiple days of eye gunk build-up, and looked like he hadn't been generally taken care of or fed properly since we left him. I would never put him in here again. read more

We planned to board my boyfriend's dog here for two nights while we went on a climbing trip. He's a year and a half old Samoyed-Husky rescue with a lot of dominant energy, but we had hoped that an establishment like DogJax would be experienced in working with different dog personalities. It was clear from the moment we walked in that we were not dealing with experienced professionals, both in the way they handled the dogs and spoke with us. They did not seem concerned with our dog's unique traits nor our advice on how to work with him (he's very food motivated, does not respond well to aggression, etc.). They simply checked him in, said that "after 20 minutes, he'd be comfortable" then walked him out to a pretty miserable looking concrete pen without letting us say goodbye or asking us the best way to handle the drop-off for our dog's specific needs. He looked terrified and we were very uncomfortable driving away. After 5-10 minutes we got a call to come get him. He had nipped at a few of the workers as they tried to get him into the pen. We had to cancel our climbing trip, but we're relieved to get him out of there. They were not the type of people I would recommend leaving a dog with. read more

Pretty bummed to have to do this, but had a less than ideal experience here. Planned a climbing trip around boarding my dog here for two days and within 10 minutes got a phone call that they couldn't handle/accept my dog because he nipped at some of the workers. They showed very little expertise in taking in new dogs. I explained his history (that he was abused by previous owner and has some trust issues). The staff didn't ask me any questions, they didn't care to follow up about any health concerns or personality traits of my dog that I told them about. They just shepherded him in to the pen and yelled at him the whole way. There was no communication about how the drop-off would be handled, and if I had been given the chance, I would have suggested they let me walk him to the pen myself until he was comfortably playing with the other dogs. They essentially pulled him away as he was struggling to get back to me and then told me I could leave. I was uncomfortable driving away but ultimately glad that it didn't work out because expectations weren't clearly set from their end and felt like everybody's first day on the job. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My dog also came back with a bump on his nose....not sure what that was about. He was there for only 15 minutes... read more

Do no take your dog here!!! I dropped my six year old Alaskan Malamute off for a bath at around 9am. Waited all day to pick him up and NEVER received a phone call. I went back at around 5pm hoping he would be ready, happy, healthy. The front desk worker went in the back to get my dog, Elvis, and came back with Elvis. I was shocked when I saw my dog. He looked sad, in pain, and immideiatly went to hide in the corner. This is very unusual because he is usually so full of engird and sooo happy. He looked sick and I knew something was wrong. Also, he was still soaking wet!! After a full day at DogJax he was still wet and not taken care of. The car ride home was about 20 minutes where i kept looking back at him, with his bloated stomach and sleepy eyes, I was getting very worried. I got my boy home and he was coughing, drinking water, and his stomach was growing by the minute. He let out the most painful cry I have ever heard. I knew I had to get him to the vet. I put him back in the car and by this time he had been with me for about 45 minutes. He became lifeless but still breathing. I got him to the vet and my suspicions were confirmed. He had TWISTED STOMACH or BLOAT. He went in to surgery with 50/50 chance of surviving. While on the table in the operating room the vet called me in to show me that his spleen and stomach tissue was necrotic from lack of blood flow. The vet told me he had this going on for at least 4-6 hours!!! This happened while my dog was at DogJax. Elvis died on September 10th, 2018 just shy of his 7th birthday. My heart will always be broken. While I am not blaming DogJax for causing it....THEY DID NOT RECOGNIZE that something was seriously wrong with my dog. If they had, he could have maybe been saved. He could have had a chance. Two days later I called DogJax to talk to manager to inform them that their staff needs to be educated and Im worried that dogs are being neglected there. I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN A PHONECALL BACK FROM A MANAGER! AND MY DOG DIED BECAUSE OF DOGJAX NEGLIGENCE. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! read more

These guys were great. We were in from out of town camping in Tetons, so needed to board our two dogs for the week (beagle mix and pug). It was at one of the hotter points in the summer, and we didn't realize that day time even for boarded dogs is basically an all day outside access play group. Great for our beagle mix, not great for our pug who can't take heat. I expressed these concerns when we dropped off the dogs and they were so accommodating and kept a close eye on him during the week to make sure he stayed cool. Our two pups played and played, were well taken care of, and enjoyed a private area for eating and for sleeping. I absolutely recommend DogJax! Our 1 year old yellow lab Rosie had a great time here on 3 days of dog sitting during our vacation so we could do outdoor activities. Each day we brought her home, she slept soundly for the rest of the day. I like that there is always someone observing the dogs playing and keeping an eye on them in case any get too aggressive and that older, shyer dogs are separated from the younger ones with energy. This is the first time we boarded our dog out of town. This place was great and we felt our doggo was well taken care of & got to play with many dogs his size/temperament. The only complaint is that we didn't get a confirmation response very quickly. We were anxiously waiting for a response whether the reservation was accepted. We called at 1 hour past the reservation time but the auto phone prompt only gave options to speak with someone if you were "an existing customer" so we hung up & waited. At 2 hours past our desired reservation time we called again & pressed the prompt for "existing customers" was connected & confirmed that we did reserve a while ago but their system didn't catch it bc our vaccinations records didn't have All vaccines (only minimum requirements). So this glitch caused us to waste 2 hours of our morning that we had planned to start hiking. It didn't totally ruin our day I would just say they should have a faster response of Yes/No/Maybe if the reservation is still needing more info or what the status is. Other than that, it was a super excellent experience and the people were friendly & seemed to take good care & have compassion for the animals. We will book here again the next time we're in Jackson! read more

We've used these guys when we're visiting Jackson and can't take our pup on one of the adventures. They are very accommodating and take great care of our little guy. We didn't have our shots when we showed up the last time and they called the vet to follow up on the needed information. The past few times we've been there, we've always seen folks out with the dogs and it appears pretty clean (for lots of pups running around)! I think my only qualm is I think it's a lot of concrete... but I guess grass would be a lot of mud and dirt to maintain. We will be back! read more

We are a full time travelling couple and wanted to spend the day in Yellowstone where it is not dog friendly. We brought her in to the kennel early so we could get a head start. I should have listened to my gut feeling. The attendant was very nice and professional but there was a male in the yard area where dogs were running around and he was yelling. Yelling at the dogs and spraying them with a water bottle. It was not a controlled voice command and was unnerving. We left her for the night and were going to spend the rest of the day in the Tetons. Instead I called to see how she was doing and a male with an east Indian accent said she was not doing good. I asked how and he said she was not getting along with other dogs and was snapping at them. We had told them at take in, she was scared of other dogs and was better with humans. I cancelled our plans and went to get her. Again, a very nice girl at the check in and some man screaming at the dogs in the yard. The woman said she could not find the extra food they didn't need. My pup was so happy to see me but there was something off about her. When we got back to our RV she ran to the water bowl and drank it all. It was about 0930 and she was still odd, so I fed her. She devoured the food so I don't believe she got fed. After another bowl of water she went to her bed and fell asleep. That never happens. And she was there for 3 hours without waking up with the noise we made. Unreal. We really do not believe they gave her any water and maybe not any food. It took a day for her to get back to normal. She had a mark on her face I think was from a nip from another dog but that can happen and not anyone's fault. We emailed the place to complain and have not heard back, I will be contesting the charge based on how she looked after just one day. We used to use a place called Top Notch Kennels in California. They were the absolute best and we never had a single issue with them. This is an anomaly for us. We are passing through so we won't be needing this place anymore but even if we were staying, I would never bring my dog here again. read more

GREAT EXPERIENCE! Dog Jax were a saving grace for us! We were staying in Dubois, WY and brought our dog to a "day care" close by that were awful and needed to find a place at the last minute! It was Friday at 5pm and I called asking to drop her off for the day on Saturday and they said sure, they were open from 8-6! They have a great website, an online registration form and very professional. We drove into Jackson for the day dropped her off to see several workers out in the yard with the dogs, several doggy pools and the workers spraying the hose for the dogs to run through! Our girl was there from 10-3 and we even got a "report card"'when we picked her up! She was happy and tired! And we got to enjoy the day in Jackson Hole! read more

Came to Wyoming for a few days and felt bad leaving my dogs in the hotel for hours alone, called here and they were able to take all three dogs in. Awesome! I have a little dog, under 10 lbs., and have a hard time leaving her behind. Especially since she is so easy to travel with. Last summer I needed a place to leave her when I left town unexpectedly. We do a lot of traveling for art festivals. While we were in Jackson we left our Bodhi dog at Dog Jax to play. The next day he pulled his way in! He had a fantastic time. I have never left a review for a company before this, and I truly wish I didn't have to. Today I took my Airedale Terrier in to be hand stripped, and he came home with his coat clipped. This essentially ruined his coat that we have been hand stripping since he was a puppy. When I booked the appointment I specified that he needed to be stripped, and it was agreed upon. When I arrived today I specifically said he is hand stripped, and made sure that was understood. Apparently the wording when the groomer said Airedale style cut was all that was needed to throw out that I repeatedly mentioned he is to be hand stripped. Then to top it off his cut is not in the typical Airedale style, it is more like a schnauzer. To make this situation worse there was no remorse in the fact that his coat is ruined, and they charged me full price for a service that I did not want or ask for. I will not recommend Dogjax to anybody for grooming. Now I will have to spend more money taking my dog to another groomer to fix his schnauzer cut. read more

It was our first time in Jackson, and being that we had our party terriers with us we wanted to make sure they had a great place to romp. Not only did they show us the facility (which was huge), they let us wait to see how our doggies did in the acclimation kennel. Our dogs LOVED it there! While we were skiing our brains out the Terriers were partying their butts off! Plus, the girl at the counter was a Packers fan! :) Extra points for that.
