I started bringing my boxer puppy, Dexter, to Doggie Playland when he was 5 months old. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Dexter was a very, VERY active puppy and we were worried that he wouldn't do well in a daycare environment, as a previous location felt that their daycare was too small for him. Michelle and her staff immediately took Dexter in for his trial day and he loved it! They were very reassuring that Dexter was great and that we had nothing to worry about.
Our pup is at Doggie Playland 3 days a week and he can't get enough of it. He cries with joy on the car ride there every time. Within just a few days, we noticed a difference in his behaviour and that he was better on walks. Although daycare is not formal training, Michelle and her team work with the dogs and they certainly learn a thing or two about socialization with both dogs and people. Also, he is exhausted when he gets home which is great for those days when you are too tired after work to fully exercise your dog. He comes home tired and happy.
The staff is awesome! Everyone is super friendly and listen to any concerns that you may have. They also update you about your dog and will inform you if they notice anything of concern. Michelle was very helpful in advising us about food and diet when he first got Dexter and helped us keep track of him as he transitioned to different foods until we found the right one for him. You can tell that the girls at Doggie Playland really care about your pet. They also post photos and videos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter which is great. I always love seeing what my dog is up to and the funny/cute photos that they snap.
Their training classes are also great! Seeing how good the staff was with Dexter and how much he improved just being there, we decided to sign up for Level 1 Obedience training with Sasha. We found it very useful--not just for Dexter, but for us. It's easy to get lazy with dog training but taking a class holds you accountable and really helped us bond with Dexter. We liked it so much that we are starting Level 2 this weekend! Sasha is awesome and I think her class stands apart from others. We have previously taken puppy classes at another place, but we noticed a huge difference in the attention that we got with Sasha. You often get very little one on one time in a group training class, but Sasha really makes sure you get one on one time in her class. She is easy to talk to and very helpful with addressing questions or concerns. The price of the course is also great. You definitely get bang for your buck!
So what makes Doggie Playland stand out from the rest?
1. Size--it's huge!
2. Staff--not only are they friendly and caring, some of them are trainers or have completed some sort of dog related training/behaviour courses, so they know what they are talking about.
3. Their training classes provide more one on one time than many other courses that are similar and offered by other businesses for the same price.
