When my chocolate Lab, Raider, was about six months old, I enrolled him in a group training class. It was a disaster. He wouldn't listen, and any attempt to walk him ended with him dragging me around. I actually became known as "the lady the dog walks." We thought putting up a fence would solve everything, but it didn't. We gave him full access to the house and the large backyard, but things only got worse. He would bark at me constantly, jump on me, and even try to climb in my lap while I worked--and keep in mind, he's not a small dog. Raider weighed about 100 pounds, and I couldn't control him. I couldn't even walk him anymore. He'd pull me down the street, lunging at people and dogs--not out of aggression, but because he wanted to say hi and play. I tried walking him with my pockets full of cheese, pleading with him to be gentle, and praying no other dogs or people were in sight. The anxiety was overwhelming--and he sensed it. When we tried to leave the house, he would bolt out the door. His separation anxiety was intense; whenever I left, he'd destroy whatever he could find--usually my son's things. I was frustrated and at a complete loss. One day while we were gone, my mom let him out. Raider adored her, but that day he growled at her, and it scared her. That wasn't the sweet, wild Raider I knew. I realized then something had to change--and fast. I started calling around for help and even booked a few appointments, but ended up canceling them because none of the places felt right. Then my mom told me about Cory and her training business. We went in for a consultation, and from the start, I knew it was the right fit. Cory explained that it would take about three weeks to help Raider and that a board-and-train program would be best. Unlike other places that only offered a week of training focused solely on walking, Cory's program addressed the root behavioral issues. Dropping him off was tough--I was nervous but hopeful. And let me tell you: when we picked him up, I was amazed. I had a different dog. I could walk him again. He was calmer, happier, and the separation anxiety had improved dramatically. Our friends couldn't believe the transformation. I love my new and improved Raider. He's not perfect--walking is still a work in progress--but now we can enjoy him, take him places, and not live in constant stress. If you're on the fence about board-and-train, just do it. Think of it as an investment in your family. If your child needed help, you wouldn't hesitate--and the same should go for your dog. Choose elsewhere!!! At first I thought it would be great for my puppy. Corey was so friendly; the reviews were great-not just locally. I was hesitant to drop off my puppy for two weeks but it was during the Covid19 crisis so there was no "in home" training or "puppy preschool" option. Anyway, I asked if they sent video updates and they don't-- that should have been my first warning sign since when you pick your pet up they show you on camera/video what they have "learned" (or not) why couldn't they send clips during?? Anyway-- when I picked up my pet he hadn't learned anything more; and I would say less, than when I dropped him off. When I dropped him off he already knew how to "sit" like a pro. Not any more. He didn't heel on a leash without being "corrected" every other step, he didn't know "down" at all, he "stayed" for a second, and of course he came running easily since he didn't 'stay'. They said, "he's just tired", "he's just stubborn". I was concerned since he was a puppy that he wouldn't remember me :( Well, he was soooo happy to see me. I thought it was just reunion time. I wish. He looked so thin. I took him home he was so hungry, so thirsty, I fed him. Gave him water. He got in his crate and slept the entire 4 hours drive to Chicago (we decided just to go instead of waiting until the next day since they said he was so tired ). I called our vet when we got there and couldn't get in for almost a week anywhere. He was almost potty trained when I dropped him off-- he was having accidents hourly now. The vet was upset with how thin he was. She thinks he has a UTI (she thought from being crated too much and him holding it in) and he's on antibiotics. He is being fed extra food to make up for his weight loss ( 2 1/2#) and to gain some. On top of all of the health issues which are heartbreaking, he wasn't trained. Although they "have support for 4 months" with the "training" the 2 weeks of "boot camp was an extreme waste of $2000 and I would go elsewhere. read more

We recently enrolled our 13 month old mini dachshund, Charlie, in their 3 week camp class. We had decided to do this because we were having reactivity issues during walks and in public places. He also was not walking well despite all of our training efforts. He would constantly pull. It was so hard to leave him for the 3 weeks, but it was totally worth it. We received constant communication from Cory and Melaney during his stay which helped with the separation. The lessons we have received from the initial pick up and our group lessons have helped us and Charlie to continue with his training and success. We recently had a vacation and Charlie was so well behaved. There was no reaction from him when he saw other dogs. Using the methods we were taught for introducing him to people and other dogs worked like a charm. His walking skills are excellent. It is such a joy to walk with him no matter the surroundings. The other characteristic we have noticed is that Charlie is so much calmer. He now understands what is expected of him within our family. He understands that we will initiate the playtime and there is no more high pitched barking for attention. This group is amazing at what they do. I have a younger dog that would get the entire pack upset with her shenanigans. She was constantly picking fights and wouldn't calm down for training. I brought her to this group for training. I chose the 3 week boarding and training package and am so happy I made that choice. I am so happy with the results. My pet is now more confident and calmer. She doesnt feel as if she needs to run around all crazy getting the other dogs all crazy too. She knows what is expected and now the entire pack family is well behaved and calm. The staff are caring and made me feel at ease while they had her. They sent me updates wo times a week with a report cart on what skills she was learning and the field trips she would take to use those skills. I would highly recommend them to any one whether your baby just needs a little bit of guidance or more severe training issues. read more

Recently brought my dog in for a consult. He's a big dog, 10 month old German Shepherd/Akita Mix. Has a lot of energy. All the dogs barking in this building made him anxious and scared. So he reacted in a way a scared, anxious dog would. The "trainers" said they were scared of my dog, scared he might seriously injure someone one day. That he had no hope. And he was was at a point of no return. Even mentioned that he might have to be put down at some point due to his behavior. He might be big, but he's a puppy. They told me a puppy would probably have to be put down. Never go here, especially with a bigger dog. They might call animal control themselves and say your dog is a wild, rabid monster who can't be helped. If you love your dog like I love mine, never ever go here. read more

Place is very dirty and run by a bunch of idiots who have little experience training dogs. Abusive/inhumane methods are used at this place including pincher collars and physical corrections. As others have mentioned they refuse to have cameras or send videos of your dog which is a huge red flag. I have spoken to several of their former clients and many of them think the dogs are not being trained and simply kenneled all day! They have no Facebook page (which is odd for a business) and there website looks like it was built in the 90s. More red flags! My interaction with Cory was not good. She is condescending, rude and very unprofessional. Hard to believe a place like this could ever stay in business. Do not bring your dog here! read more

I have a reactive German Shepherd and I live in an apartment complex. It's been a nightmare ever since she was a puppy and started having reactivity. I looked for professional help and I had two experiences that didn't work at all, untill I found the Dog Training Camp. My dog spent three weeks with them. She learned a lot and got a lot better. But I still needed to be trained too, so I could know what to do when I was walking her. That's when the group classes changed the whole game! I just took my dog Opal in for a consult and i was more than impressed. My dog is extremely unpredictable and gets very aggressive. Opal was practically begging for the trainer to give her attention haha. I was in tears in awe of how she handled Opal. Not once did my dog try to lunge and when she told me to drop her leash I was nervous but Opal did great. During the consultation she was constantly giving me tips and even took her out to walk her around. I highly recommend this facility if you need help working out difficult behaviors with your dog. I spent a long time talking to Cory on the phone asking all sorts of questions. From the very beginning I felt like she really listened and understood exactly what we needed. They were able to take our dog in right away and get straight to work. He came back home the same, sweet pup but he now has excellent manners.
