The reason I was looking for an alternative to my primary veterinarian was their intial quote was over $1,000.00 and although I love my pooch that is a lot out of my wallet. I was able to email them for the a quote and already received good news when they quoted less than my primary vet, scheduling and communication was easy enough as well all done through email and one final call the day before the appointment. They were able to get a rabies certificate from my vet without my intervention. The extraction took longer than I had expected. My pug could not eat after 8pm the night before and combined with the 2hr drive there we were both at wits end. Once dropped off he was left there for the whole day, when I called for a midday question he hadn't been taken in yet, when I called later for an estimated pickup time after spending a full day in downtown Penn Yan I was ready to go (!), he still wasnt back. In the end however he was ready to go home less the 15 teeth taken. They, the staff seemed a bit rushed by me however they close at 7pm, he was ready to go at 6:30pm and I live 2hrs from their office so after spending a full day in a small town and a two hour drive ahead of me I was ready to go too. Overall it was a good experience, he had the extraction on a Thurs and by Sat he was fully back to normal. A week later he acts like nothing happen. In the end I saved over $500 compared to our regular vet including the antibiotics and calcium supplements they sent us home with and they called a few days after to check in on him. My number one recommendation is to check around for prices before jumping into treatment for your vet. Who knows you may just end up in a small town discovering a few things.

I left anouther vet practice who did not take the care of my dog seriously. The first vet I saw at this practice immediately wanted to Xray my dog's bad front foot. He found out she was walking on bone becasue the original bone break was not taken care of. Sad as that was, it also told the vet what medicines she needed to aviate the pain when she walked. I was with the other practice for over a year and, in addition to incorrectly diagnoses for a cancerous lump, they never botherer to pursue why by dog had an odd shaped front paw and why she favored it when she walked. I wish I could tell you the whole story of the cancer issues. Let's just say I was told that the vet tech at that proctice felt the lump and decided it was a fatty tumor. I was the one who insisted on a biopsy and , guess what. the tumor was cancerous. They were her doctors, her advocates. Yeh, right. The vet practice, that I won't name, is the one that's across route 96 from the dermatology building and in the same block as a paint story.

Tuesday the 26th came and I received a Facebook message at 12:43 pm indicating she had to cancel due to an emergency with her fiancé in Canada and she would refund for the day and she should be back for the next day. At that time of day and being out of state I was unable to find an alternative and my pets remained caged for 10 hours. She did not send the refund for the day. The next day came, September 27th, and again at 12:10 pm another Facebook message came in she was unable to make it, would provide a refund, unsure of when she could make it. I asked for a refund which she confirmed she would do. On September 29th I sent a follow up message and also sent a Venmo request asking for the credit. She indicated she could only give me $20 of the $60 because she was broke and still in Canada. She still did not send even the $20 she promised. I sent a follow up message today indicating I found it extremely unprofessional that she accepted payment in advance, was unable to provide services and unable to issue a refund. I've remained calm and patient through the ordeal and I find myself appalled. She notified me of her inability to provide services with little notice, I was out of state forced to look for alternative care, unsuccessfully by the way both days shortly before her scheduled arrival. I'm asking a final time for you to issue an immediate refund and she indicates she can't and will whenever she returns home. I understand things happen, completely get that emergencies happen. These folks truly love caring for your pets in your absence and do so with a firm commitment to your animal's physical and emotional well-being. The Proof -My dog is a rescue with abandonment, trust, and general neglect issues, so I was reluctant to board her for some time. When I've had to travel without her in the past, she has always displayed higher separation anxiety upon my return, even when leaving her at home in the care of my housemate. When I picked her up from Ranchanna, she was delighted and energetic to see me (as one would expect) yet after the initial rush of affection, she made sure to say goodbye to the owner and once home displayed none of the nervous, attention seeking behaviors which I had come to expect after travel. Summary- Ranchanna kennels is more than a kennel, it's a home away from home for your animal companion that you can trust. I'll never use another boarding service in Rochester again, and I highly recommend that you follow suit.
