My golden went to get groomed and left not looking like a golden. They completely shaved her. She's scared to even walk by the store.

I started coming to Dog Lovers out of sheer convenience I've been coming here since 2009. Since 2009 I've abandoned Dog Lovers numerous times but like I said due to connivence I always end up back. This is one of the absolute worse places you could ever take your dog to be groomed. My biggest issue with them is that they will service your animal even if he has not been vaccinated. This is a breeding ground for diseases. The man at front desk is very sarcastic and almost teeters on being downright rude. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone read more

I try taking two of my dogs to this establishment first dog I totally understand she's a rescue and has trauma, but they have no patience. My second dog is a senior dog very very calm and gentle, I arrived at 11:30 and they denied any service because they said they were closing when closing time is at 2pm, the man in the front is very rude. I did not feel welcome and I will never be coming here again. read more

Take my multiple dogs in often. I've had good service and my dogs come out good with no cuts. Love the smell and little bandanas.

Took my moms dog to get groomed while she was out of town for her sister funeral, thinking it will cheer her up! Wrong , Edward Scissors Hand could of done a better job! They cut my moms dog all up! Then when I took him back they refused to accept in accountably saying it's because the growth pattern of his hair! Terrible customer service and even worst Dog Groomers! DONT GO HERE! I tried recycling black dollars but MY BLACK BUCKS STOP WITH BAD SERVICE ! read more

I won't be lengthy with my disappointment because I'll attach pictures that will speak for my disgust! For context, I will say that my mom was out of town so she had the sitter take her dog to be groomed. The sitter noticed what was done once they got in the car. Not a single person mentioned this to the sitter when she arrived to pick him up. PLEASE FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR BELOVED PETS! read more

UPDATE: 4/12/2021 This is an addition to my review here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/dog-lovers-los-angeles?hrid=F4niV7rK90fHpFbJat9p5A&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) My dog Tito has not regain any of his hearing and we know it was because of what they did to him. I pray to God this place closes down. We took him to the doctors and he had severe damage inside of his ears. He can hear us if we yell but his hearing is permanently impaired. I curse Dog Lovers because you guys did this to my baby. I'm so hurt that his hearing was cut short because he was perfectly fine before this. I could whisper and he'd hear me but now, he gets spooked if he didn't hear us coming in the room. I hate Dog Lovers. I really hope your business closes for good. read more

the lady that runs Dog Lovers flat-out tried to rip me off by trying to charge 120 dollars for a wash and cut on my small 20-pound dog. I went there trying to recycle black dollars but I won't be patronizing this business again. read more

As a previous customer stated, I also use Pet Lovers as a convenience only using them 2-3 times per year, unfortunately they are the only option in our community. The owner/husband is very rude always speaking in tones of disrespect and the grooming is mediocre to bad depending on the day, their website states one thing and the husband says another, it is just terrible they way they treat their customers. It is too bad that they don't understand that it is the community that keeps their business open (even during COVID). I wish that as customers and real dog lovers we could/would boycott there business for one month, maybe then after not having that support, they would treat their customers both pet and owner with the respect the community deserves. read more

If you love your pet PLEASE do NOT take them to Dog Lovers. Very rude and unprofessional. I try to recycle in my own community but some business are making it very hard. I took my dog to Dog Lovers and they chopped him up pretty bad. When I address the issue to the so call owner (Rose) she did not take accountability for anything that went wrong. Instead wanted to blame the dog and the way his hair grows. Rose never apologize or tried to correct the problem. If you haven't had a bad experience yet with them, its just a matter of time plus I don't want your dog to get hurt before u realize they are BAD People (BUSINESS). You have been warned. read more

Avoid this place At all cost. THEY GAVE ME BACK MY DOG AND SHE LOOKED LIKE A NAKED MOLE RAT. the did not cut her the way I asked them to. After picking up my precious pup, she began to act differently, won't eat, and cry's majority of the day. I'm so upset, and will NEVER return here. Don't waste your time or money here. My fluffy princess came back looking like who did it and why. she wasn't even cut evenly. This place is AWFUL. read more

I found this place after I did an extensive research because I didn't trust any groomer after some unfortunate event with a past let I had. So I decided to give a new groomer a try because there's no way I can cut my own dogs hair (trust me I've tried and poor little guy was walking around with uneven hair ) let me say that I am so happy I found this place. My little Batman's hair looks so nice and he's always so happy when I pick him up. I definitely recommend these groomers.. read more

Talk about dog lover they don't do labs or big dogs. Save your time and call someone else unless you have a small dog

They absolutely butchered our dog's hair, and I'm in shock about how bad her cut is. It's as if they ignored the breed and just started cutting. This is probably the place to go if all your doggie needs is a bath...but then again, she doesn't smell good either. I really didn't want to have to leave this review, as they are a mom and pop operation, but I had to let you know. They are super busy, and they deserve no stars. They got one because yelp won't allow you to leave a zero. read more

The people here are nice but they butchered my dog. Different length hair all over. Choppy cuts and a cut by her ear. I've never seen anything like it. I dropped her off and she looked worse when I picked her up. I want to support local businesses but not when the service is terrible. And this is terrible. read more

I was hesitant to write this review because everyone makes mistakes but I decided to move forward. I've been taking my dog here for years and while I never loved the service from certain staff or the finished product in terms of style, it was convenient. I can drive there in less than 5 minutes and they don't require appointments. Well the convenience is no longer good enough. I took my dog in and when I picked him up I was told that he was cut with the clippers. The daughter of the owner admitted that she used the wrong size blade although she had been told not to by her mother in the past. The wound had been covered in some sort of liquid bandage so I never got to see how bad it was. A few days later it started to itch and my dog pulled the scab off and it was pretty bad. I've had my dog for 11 years and groomed him myself with clippers MANY times and I've NEVER cut him. I took him back to the groomers to show them. The owner was there and I also let her know that I felt like a poor job had been done in general. I noticed when I got home that a few of his toenails hadn't been trimmed and the hair cut wasn't even. She was very nice but all she did was put more liquid bandage on him and told me to call her directly on her cell phone if I had any issues. There was no apology that I remember, no offer of a partial or full refund, nothing. The final kicker was when I noticed today that that the hair on the pads of his feet weren't cut. I was wondering why he had been bitting his feet despite just getting a hair cut 4 days ago. I now know why. So here I am left to constantly monitor my dog to make sure his wound can heal. He's upset and uncomfortable because he now has to wear a cone to keep him from biting and padding to protect him from scratching. And I have to finish his grooming job at home after paying almost $50 to a professional groomer. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

So I called on Jan 8, 2022 and made an app for my dog at 12 noon. as I walked in Dog lovers the guy that owned the place yelled at me and said can I help u . I told him I have an app for my dog . He told me I can't take him I'm full and I'm not going to take your dog in. I was trying to communicate with him I have an app he said so what . I told you I am full and I'm not taking no more dogs. Kept yelling at me . I would never go there again.. I have been going there for 6 years. But never again . If you have a dog you love and care about ., I would suggest you not going there that guy is very rude and not welcoming at all. read more

This place is sketchy. I been coming here as a last resort when 34 Pet Shop isn't available. I really dred this place. The first time I came I was charged 65, which is pretty reasonable for a 40 pound maltipoo. The second time, they charged 75 when she didn't even look as bad as the first time. They do price gouging to profit what they feel is worth there time. It's on the price board... '& up' And don't let them get to you with the act they put on, "oh poor baby, yeah she's gonna need this and that". They sob and whine to make it seem like a severe case just to up-sell you. One time I was four bucks short and they really weren't gonna help me out, they don't love dogs as much as they say they do. My dog hates this place. When she came back the second time, she shat on the floor. Also that green gel crap is weak. Besides for hotspots, they give that to everybody as a cop out for whatever wrong they did to your pet. Don't be quick to visit this place unless you really need to. read more

This was the absolute worse experience. Rose is disrespectful and her behavior was disgusting. I took my baby to get a flea bath and when we left he still had fleas. When I contacted Rose with this issue she had the nerve to say I have fleas at my house or I was seeing things. I felt good about spending my money in my neighborhood with my people but once again the customer service was garbage. I showed Rose & her employee nothing but respect and it nearly brought me to tears the way she treated me. Just dismissed me completely. I will never spend another dollar with this con artist and I will surely be getting my money back from this thief. You don't treat people like this and she definitely won't be getting away with this. Next time a young black girl comes in her business she will think twice about how she treats them. I'm going straight to the State veterinary licensing board with this one. I forgive her because I'm a child of God, but I will be speaking up for myself. read more

I will never take my pupplie back there again.when I pick my puppy up, she was bleeding from her paws I'm assuming when they were trying to cut her nails, they cut her skin part and it was blood all over her paws. Mine and my girlfriend's dog hasn't been to a grooming salon in a while and today I got him groomed which took a about 5 hours. My dog was really shy to go in at first, which he usually is. I ordered the works and they cut him really good and did his ears which usually isn't done by any other grooming salon I have been to. They also trimmed his nails, brushed his tail out really good, and gave him a bath that made him smell really good. They took really good care of my dog because when we came back our dog was jumping around happy because he got himself clean and cut. The environment felt very safe and warm welcoming, even through this pandemic. They provided gloves and masks to the customers when they first walk in which a lot of stores do not which is a really good thing during these times. read more

My puppy hates this place. I was taking her back for the second time and noticed as we approached the door her demeanor immediately changed and she began whinnying. The service wasn't horrible. Prices were especially high. I wouldn't go back just based on my dog's fearful reaction to the place. read more

I posted a good review a few years back because I had a great experience with Dog Lover's, however the last two grooming experiences have been very disappointing. I took two of my elderly cocker spaniels (ages 14 & 13) in for their anuual summer trim. I went on a Thursday because they have a $5 off coupon on their website. The positives are: -They open on time -My dogs were done in less than 3 hours. The negatives are: - Very unfriendly staff - They do not put bows or bandanas on the dogs like other groomers do - The cuts were subpar to say the least - They nicked both my dog on several places and my older girl was still bleeding when they brought her out to me. They cut her quick and the lady proceeded to tell me that it was my fault because I do not cut her nails often enough. - They never apologized for hurting my dogs and even worse they didn't tell me. I saw all the nicks once I got home. Needless to say, I will NEVER take my dogs to Dog Lovers ever again! Its super close to my house and I can conveniently drop off and pick my dogs with ease, however the mistreatment and disregard they show for pets and owners is inexcusable. I am currently looking for new groomer. read more

First time I took my Dog she came Back with a perfect cut. Second time I asked them to not cut my dogs pony tail, and they did and also cut my Dog to close in several area leaving her red and bleeding. After speaking to the female owner I was told this happens all the time and was given a gel to apply to my dog. So me wanting to support my community took my dog back a 3rd time with the specific instruction on how I wanted my dog cut, again they disregarded everything I said! I will never come back again. read more

-I've done business with them many times before, but as of 1/2019 I no longer will- Don't bring your pets here. If they can be rude to you just imagine how they will treat your pets. "Over priced". They tell you what and how they'll style your dog and they don't care what you think. And then charge you a ridiculous amount. That's why I grabbed my dog and left. Lady upfront got very very upset when I decided not to do business there. As I walked away she said something under her breath. It was my birthday so I wasn't going to let her or anyone ruin it for me. So I just walked out. so no, I don't recommend this place. I try to keep money flowing in the community. But not at establishments like those. Just very rude and unwelcoming, I'll gladly look for another groomers and I'll gladly pay more for businesses that truly deserve it. Have a good day!!!! read more

I have read the listed reviews and sadly I must say that I agree with those who will not be returning. I will not be returning to Dog Lovers nor will I refer anyone I know. I can relate to a lot of the issues that have been stated, but the deal breaker was the rudeness of the owner, he was nasty and arguing regarding a discount . He was loud insulting with the lobby full of customer. The clerk called me to apologies for his behavior, but when I picked up my dog, he did not, and he refuse to the apply the discount, because I had already paid, and he will do it on the next visit .Really! I AM DONE WITH DOG LOVERS. read more

I should have consulted the reviews on Yelp prior to selecting this groomer. I feel so guilty, my dog came home with a horrible razor burn on the back of his ears and a rather large one on his shoulder that looks like a hotspot. My cute little Toy Poodle/Bichon mix now looks like a little raggedy possum, so happy his hair will be growing back. He is uneven, his feet and toes are scraggly, ears and face uneven, and the hair on his legs is different lengths. I'll give one star for doing his tail as I asked. He is constantly scratching. He was given an unsightly sanitary cut that he did not need (his hair was only long, not nasty). He is now all pink under his hair. I visited this business on the recommendation of a friend who was a long time customer LONG ago. I believe in supporting local businesses but certainly not if they are sub par. I don't think I'll be back. Like the saying says, you only get one chance to make a first impression... read more

The lady at the frond desk provided poor customer service and had a nasty attitude. Was afraid that she would mistreat my dog and when I picked him up he had clearly been traumatized. I took my dog there after he recovered from getting neutered. His hair was matted so they had to shave him down. After a few days I noticed he was coughing; Took him to the vet who said he contracted Kennel Cough; came out of pocket for that (exam and meds) His hair started growing back except in one spot on his hind leg. I looked it up online and spoke with the tech assistant at my vets office. What I found online and what the tech said were the same - he may have contract mange from the groomer not cleaning the clippers. His vet appt is soon and of course I will have to come out of pocket again. Never had this issue when he was going to Pet Smart....needless to say my dog will not be going back there again! read more

The worst customer service and on top of that they charge a ridiculous amount of money for a dog groomers in the hood. The African American woman in the front looks like she hates her job and doesn't really care to give you suggestions or understand your needs. My dog was shedding and i wanted them to comb it out, but they were going to charge $75 plus tax. Are you freaking kidding me? This place already looks like a dump and has shitty customer service, why the hell do they charge that much for something that would take less than an hour?! DON'T COME HERE. read more

Like some others, I rescued a dog (Golden Dox) a few months after my beloved Lab transitioned. This was the second groomer that I tried, even though I liked the first one on Western (close to the animal shelter) parking is very bad in that area, and I didn't feel safe parking around the corner and walking back to Western...to many stray Pit Bulls wandering in the area. Even though my son told me about a place in Culver City, it seemed that parking was going to be an issue there as well, so I remember passing Dog Lovers on Crenshaw and decided to give them a try. Parking was great! The place smelled clean and the woman in the front was very courteous and made me and my dog feel welcome. Because "my baby" is part Golden Retriever, he has curly hair...but when I picked him up, all the "curl" was gone. I wasn't expecting such a drastic change, to be honest, it took me a few minutes to recognize him... It's a good thing he recognized me - LOL. Although the cut cost more than I thought it would, I am satisfied. When I asked the woman at the counter about an area on my dog where he was scratching, she gave me some green gel to put on the "hot spot". It cleared up pretty quickly. I can't remember the cost including the tip..so I won't quote a price, but even though pricier than what I'd paid in the past - I will be a returning customer. After all good work does have a price. read more
