Maria did a good job the 1st couple of times then every time I would notice even cut, shaved to close to the skin. This week she cut my dogs nail so close they bled, and she did not give her a bath, her face was still dirty. My dog has not been okay since and that was on Thursday. She is sad, depressed and anxious. I dont know what she did to my dog, but please if you love your pet do not take them there ever! This time I struggle to give Maria even this 1 star. Took our 8 year old mini schnauzer to Maria for grooming recently. She'd only been with one groomer previously, but did great. WORST GROOMING EXPERIENCE! If I could give zero stars I would!! I brought in my beautiful chow to be groomed by Maria after consulting with her and showing her a picture of how I wanted my dogs hair ..she agreed. I confirmed with her if she's worked on chows before and she said yes. My dog came in with beautiful hair, no matting whatsoever as she gets brushed out frequently ..and when I picked her up she was completely shaved down!!! This is work of an amateur... a professional groomer knows not to everrrr shave down a chow like this!!! I was fooled by the good reviews on google and her front cover of her website, where it shows a chow chow. This made me think she was experienced with this breed but I was extremely disappointed words cannot even describe.. I am literally shaking as I am typing this! I let them know I was not happy and that they went waaay to short that you can even see her skin peeking through.. they were unapologetic..Maria said she had to shave her down because she found thorns in her skin. She never called to communicate this with me and made the executive decision to shave her down without MY PERMISSION! She wanted me to be thankful to her for saving me from a hefty vet bill due to the thorns and it was her only way of making sure she got all of it out. THIS IS NOT HER DECISION TO MAKE , SHE SHOULD HAVE CALLED ME TO ALLOW ME TO MAKE THE DECISION TO HAVE HER SHAVED DOWN. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING and I will make sure to share my story with my neighbors, friends, family, and strangers. On top of that she charged me more than what she told me it would be. She said it would be $95, and when I picked her up she charged me $130 when all she did was shave her down. On top of all of this ...my dog was extremely dehydrated and stressed out. I've never seen my dog this stressed out after a grooming session. Horrible experience! I asked for a teddy bear cut my babies hair is all choppy on her face head and body it looks awful not evenly cut almost shaved the top of her head bald. when I picked her up I noticed her paw was bleeding the lady Maria stated that she wiggles too much and that's why that happened. The business itself is messy and disorganized. Front area needs to be sanitized and kept clean for visiting clients. There was hair and urine stains everywhere as if they didn't know how to clean up properly. Owner doesn't understand that having multiple dogs roaming or kenneled in the same area as the grooming does not allow the other dog to be calm. My dog's haircut was choppy and they couldn't manage to get a full cut because he was too "anxious". Maybe if you had organization and less distractions, he wouldn't be anxious. read more

I would give 0 stars if i could. The lady was extremely rude when we first walked in and we immediately saw a bigger dog with his/her mouth taped shut. I left two of my dogs there for a flea bath and nail trim. My sister came back and was bawling. One of my dogs are we're blood shot red with one eye that was so swollen she could barely open it. Apparently the owner claimed her eyes were red and her nose bled because "that's what Happens when dogs are mad" Clearly my dog's snout was closed so tight, her blood vessels popped. This place DOESNOT do a great job, they have a lot of dogs just running around the shop with hair on the floor after the pets were just clean etc. this is the worst place ever! I'm going next door next time to take my dogs. One side of my dog leg wasn't cut. I wish i'd checked the reviews sooner. Never take your animal here. My dogs original groomer was closed, so we came here as an alternative. She came home with bleeding nails and were told she needed a muzzle. Out of the other groomers we've ever been to we've never experienced such a terrible service. I found this groomer thru yelp and like the reviews. They are located in the Barnyard shopping center right off Clovis Avenue across the street from Lowes, so very easy to find...altho they are at the very back of the center and are NOT the "pet grooming" place you can see from Clovis Ave. There is very much an old style "Beauty Parlor" look to this nice salon for Pooches. The groomers working on the different dogs are all smiling and talking and very friendly. And the dogs waiting or done are visiting each other and enjoying the warm atmosphere while they wait for Mom or Dad to pick them up. read more

I do not recommend this place at all. I was overcharged to have my dog desheaded, the lady literally took 10 minutes with him and in the process yanked my dog so hard with the comb he whimpered. I called her several times and left two messages the next day to let her know our dog was still sheading hair and his hair was not at all trimmed, she never responded. read more

Worst experience ever. I took my two very long coated purebreds in for baths and clean up. They were returned cut down to a 1/2 of an inch. My male had little cuts around his anal area, which was a whole other problem. My female looked as if they trimmed her with craft scissors. I know these are dogs, but they just produced their first litter and was getting them cleaned to show off for potential buyers of their offspring. I calmly explained my disdain and shock to the manager. I said a refund would help since I payed them over a hundred dollars to hack my dogs up. She pretty much told me it was our fault and offered no apology or relief. If you are going to be in the business of grooming pets- know how to groom, study your breeds, and learn how to at least fake niceties with your customers. read more

I've been taking my little pooch to Maria for about 5 years now. She has always done an excellent job. I love the socialization the doggies get too. its like a playdate / grooming session. The dogs have easy access in and out of the salon & patio area. I have noticed recently that Maria is also teaching new groomers, this might have been when people started to feel the lack of customer service & bad hair cuts . We've been taking our dogs to Maria for a few years now and have never had any big complaints. She has gone out of her way to take the dogs early, or hold them late as needed to fit our schedule. The dogs do intermingle before/after thier cuts, but only if they are social/well behaved, and it's not like they are super filthy as they've usually been washed before the actual cutting takes place. A few times we've wished the cut was a little better, but she always been willing to do little fixes/adjustments after we ask or point something out. She does train young groomers there as well, so there's a chance you'll be getting a trainee, but best I can tell only under Maria's watchful eye. Lastly, the price is not bad at all, so we've been pretty happy with the place and will continue going until we find this TERRIBLE service that a few other reviewers seem to have found read more

Took Aggie in for a summer lion cut, never had her buzzed before. Showed a picture of a dog that looked like Ag with the approximate cut I was looking for, and the employee said she could do it! Ag was SOOOO cute. She did such a good job cutting her fur and nails. Nails were trimmed, but not too short- she has black nails, which can be hard to trim. My Minnie girl had a lot of matting around her neck so I had taken her in and was told they were going to have to take her down, I said that was fine but was not expecting to get a bald dog back.. Maria has been my groomer since I moved to Clovis 4 years ago. She has always went above and beyond. I believe she treats all her furry clients as if they were her own. My dog, Mandy has been very difficult with her nail trimmings. However, she trusts Maria and she gets her in and out and does awesome at shampooing and shaving. Don't come to this groomer. They did not do or say anything we asked of them. We asked for our dogs to be barely touched and to be cleaned up but when we received our Pomeranians all their hair was buzzed off and gone. We were in complete shock not to mention they were not careful with our dogs and left them in pain for days, leaving one dogs butt cut. The haircut was very messy and looked like they didn't even take time to do a nice job. Everything was uneven and when we called to ask them to do something about it they did nothing. I wasn't happy at all with this groomer. My shih tzu was completely buzzed, her body and her head. Not what I wanted, you don't buzz a shih tzu's head and then she didn't trim her ears or her tail. It didn't look like she brushed her tail at all, it wasn't fluffy. I took my dogs to Maria and the first time things were fine so the next time I took them back and told her how I wanted them clipped and she said the dogs would be done at 2:00. I told her I needed to know so my son in law could pick them as he had to leave work to do so. He went there and she hadn't started on the dogs and said he'd have to come back at 4:00 but when he did she was finishing the second dog and the one dogs hair wasn't even clipped like I asked her to. I have taken my dog to 3 different places and she's never been given the cut that I've asked for. Always have had to take her back or have them fix it right there. I found Dog Gon' clean through Yelp and read all the good reviews, so I decided to try it out. AMAZING!! They groomed her perfectly!! Great customer service, you can tell they care about pets and the owners. The dogs are NOT put in kennels, they get to socialize. They hand clipped her, no loud trimmers. She didn't come home all jittery and anxious like she has every other place. I will never take her anywhere else. As long as they are in business, they will get my business.
