Little did I know when I adopted my pup Oakley what a challenge it would be finding a quality dog walker. I also didn't realize when I adopted Oakley he would have some "quirks" that would make it hard to find someone who would take him. And then I found Aaron which has given me an incredible peace of mind. I found Aaron on a walk with my dog after his previous dog walker refused to take him anymore. Oakley is a head-shy dog and can get aggressive when approached by almost anyone who doesn't feed him on the regular. We've been working with Dog About Town for about a year and a half to give daily off-leash walks for our Great Dane, and it has been amazing. Some people just understand and communicate with dogs, and Aaron is one of those people. Our pup isn't always easy. She is BIG, and can sometimes be a diva; but she absolutely loves Aaron, and is excited to spend time with him every day. She returns home every afternoon exhausted--in a good way--after a 2+ hour trip to the off leash park at the Berkeley Marina. Great exercise, and great fun playing with her pack-mates. He's made accommodations for my schedule and preferences that give me peace of mind. Non-judgement. At the time I was a new dog owner and was worried about being judged for not being a old pro. Also... sometimes my house isn't always in incredible order. ;) Aaron is incredibly non-judgemental but when asked will offer solid advice about what to do. This is super helpful for a new dog owner. He's also given me approachable and simple tips to make it easier on myself or my dog. He reinforces my pup's training and keeps me informed about anything of note during walks. Trust. The thing you don't think enough about when looking for a dog walker is how much a part of your life you're opening to them -- not only do you trust them with you dog but also coming into your home (keys, alarm codes, mess house, etc). We moved with our two dogs, Lusi and Toby, from SF to the East Bay in November, saying goodbye to our faithful walkers of 3 years. While Lusi is as crazy and outgoing as can be with all humans, Toby is a shy boy, and lets his guard down with a very select few. We knew it would take a while for him to trust just any old walker. He has been known to bolt from strangers. Aaron showed up, and on his first day walking the pups, quickly bonded bonded with both of them. After getting into their routine with weekday walks, Aaron identified and improved behaviors (e.g., recall), using great methods. It's been amazing to see such change in just a few days. Thanks to his regular reports, we feel connected to what is going on during the walks. Aaron has been walking our great dane Harper for about a year now, and he's wonderful. Harper clearly loves him, as she gets super excited about 10 steps before he reaches our front door... even is she's in the middle of a nap, she knows he's close by and jumps up to be ready to greet him when he opens the door. Aaron is really gentle and loving with Harper, even when she doesn't behave so well at the park (occasionally she gets "inspired" to be close to the water, so she runs off toward the shore, sometimes with other dogs following her). He is patient and kind with her, and he also reinforces the training we've done with her so she gets practice with him as well as with us. Harper comes home happy and exhausted each day, so we know she gets good exercise while she's gone. Aaron is great at communicating with us, about any issues that arise with Harper, days he'll be gone on vacation (not very many, and usually tied to holidays to minimize inconvenience to us), and billing stuff. We can and do count on him, and he has very consistently come through for us for whole time we've been working with him. We appreciate Aaron's love and care for Harper, and we are thrilled to have him in her life. We can't recommend him highly enough if you're in the market for a dog walker. :) read more

My dog was 19 years old - off the age charts for a dog his size, 60 pounds in his prime. Because a new job required a long commute, I needed someone to come in and take him for an afternoon walk. Complicating things, I live up three flights of stairs, and Bandit needed to be carried on them. He was also having increasing trouble walking due to arthritis and hip dysplasia.
