This is a homerun meal - it's not cheap but neighbor is the food cheap quality. It is a high quality, upscale casual dining experience specializing in premium, hand cut steaks and well paired sides. Seafood options are also available and a limited children's menu. The service is outstanding and the restaurant is in a really kitschy locale (an historic rock structure that served as a brewery and wine cellar of local renowned before Doe's moved in and become its own storied destination "eat place")! I went back for the mushrooms. We ate there 20 yrs ago and I remembered 2 things- the steak was subpar and the mushrooms were the best that I had ever had. I have tried to find mushrooms at other places that are as good and they just don't exist. Last night I ordered the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection, seasoned just right, and was priced very well. I was very impressed with our meal last night. Everything tasted amazing. The serving staff was also very impressive. They made sure that you were taken care of without hovering over you all the time. They were also very engaging and friendly. And there just isn't any kind of atmosphere any better than an old wine cellar for a steakhouse. We just loved this as a place for a nice little date. We will definitely try to get back before 20 yrs has passed this time. read more

Without a doubt the best steak I've ever had!! 8 oz filet that melts in your mouth. We live in Georgia and California and travel across the country at least twice a year. We also try the best restaurants we can find, talking to the locals and using yelp. This time we camped on the Arkansas river and were told we needed to try Doe's for the best steak in the state. Well - we weren't disappointed. The all stone building was Built in 1848 and updated in the 60s. The ambiance, service and food were beyond 5 stars. Do yourself a favor give it a try. read more

The steak was excellent. The salad was a bagged iceberg mix with one grape tomato. The baked potato was very basic. Service was subpar at best. We didn't get our drinks refilled. We sat next to the stairs. The foot traffic was to be expected but the stairs were VERY DIRTY and it was right next to me. Prices were higher than chain steak houses but I knew that before going. Went to this particular Doe's Eat Place Restaurant in Fort Smith Arkansas on 10/23/2025. I have always been a fan of Doe's, but in my opinion, this is the Best! From filets, rib-eyes, and sirloins, which our party ordered, they have it all! I ordered the rib-eye and the Aus Jus on the steak was out of this world! The manager took the time to explain the history of this particular Doe's and it was like having a fine dining experience in a museum tour! Everyone in our party was blown away by the outstanding service and ambiance. I highly recommend going here if you are in Fort Smith! read more

Wow is all I can say. I've been in FS for 5 months and this was my first time dining here. Overall a 9/10 in my book. By far the biggest steak I have ever eaten.. and perfectly cooked. We sat downstairs in the cellar, and at times it could get a tad noisy, however the history behind the room was worth the experience. Our server Austin was awesome, gave great drink recommendations and took care of us very well. Must visit if you're visiting FS or haven't had the chance to go. Will be back read more

Sat in basement with a large table of clearly inebriated screaming hooping and playing drinking games like a college dorm. Waitress apologized many times. We finally had to ask if we could be moved to another dining room. Which prevented our dinner from being a total failure. Never saw manager. I wasn't a huge fan of my starter salad because I don't like iceberg lettuce, but the steaks were done perfectly and the fries are delicious fresh cut, just the way I like. First time here. Very cool vibe, the building dates back to the 1800's, one of if not the oldest brewery in Arkansas. Nice selection of beers, wife had a strawberries and cream martini which she totally enjoyed. Incredible potato skins. I couldn't do that at home if I had the recipe. We shared a petite filet, delicious and tender, cooked perfectly. Then the triple chocolate cake for dessert... well, it's probably the reason chocolate was invented; I considered licking the plate, but this is a nice place so I behaved. This was my second time visiting Does. My first time I wasn't too impressed but my husband wanted a good steak. The broiled shrimp is way too strong lemon flavor. Thr potato comes out with a million little plastic containers like cheap takeout. The waitress was inattentive and didn't offer very good recommendations. . They are known for their tamales and chilli which are very flavorful. Probably their best thing. The fries are fresh cut but limp. Their homemade au jus tastes like the oil runoff and drillings from the steak. Not flavorful Just greasy oil. Thr garlic lemon dressing is homemade but there is so much lemon it's unbearable. In the Orton cellar they had a plug in in the wall for fragrance but it was so strong I left with a headache. They are carcinogens and not allowed in public schools for that reason. I enjoy a high end dinner but for this price save your $. I'd recommended Piatto or Stonehouse, or West end 21. over this anyday. Sadly o won't be back. I'd rather cook. Their biscuits are really small doughnuts which are novel but the honey comes out in fast food packets. read more

After hearing my girlfriend talk this place up and reading all the reviews, my expectations were pretty high. I read one review that highlighted this place perfectly and that is, "it is all about the steak." I have to mention that our server, Sarah, was absolutely awesome though and her attitude and service probably bumped my rating from a 3 to a 4. I made a reservation for Saturday night and I expected a nicer and standout setting (one picture made me believe I was going to go through a stone tunnel into a cave-like room). I was kind of disappointed when they led us to our table in a cramped room upstairs that felt like just a small bar. Started with the shrimp appetizer, half fried and half broiled served in garlic butter. Meh. Shrimp tasted pre-frozen and were small, but fried well and hard to mess up garlic butter. I am glad Sarah told me that "biscuits" were complimentary and saved me from getting those as my side for my steak. When they came out, not your traditional biscuits, more like fried dough. The salad looked and tasted like prepackaged salad. Rough start to the meal overall. Okay, I had to get all the negatives out of the way. Remember, I still give this place 4 stars! Because? THE STEAKS! My girlfriend ordered the porterhouse (2 pounds!) and I got the cowboy cut rib-eye. We were shocked at how MASSIVE our steaks were and were so happy at how delicious they were. We agreed that the rib-eye had more flavor between the two. The steaks came with a side and we both got the fries. Second best tasting thing of the night. I really love fries and these are not ordinary fries, they tasted fresh cut that reminded me of Five Guys fries. They were a great side to the steaks. So overall, I thought the steaks were great! Price was more than fair for the quantity and quality here, especially a spot like this in Fort Smith. this place is amazing. the employees are so attentive. beer list is very long. Did not get to see the bar because I'm not allowed to use stairs. atmosphere was wonderful. We were very well dressed, suit and dress. There were people that came that wore shorts and a sundress. How we felt: Hey neighbor, Come on in. Make sure you get a bit of the juice from your stake. It doubles the flavor of your stake. Medium could be cut with a fork. We were there for 2 hours. We were never rushed. Kudos to our host Trey and our server Brad. To those I don't know your name. 8/6/18 - OHHHH my goodness. It's been 5 yrs since we've been through Ft Smith. We met up with a friend and she said Doe's Eats had good steaks. Three other people (who we did not know), also told us that their steaks were great. Everyone was spot on. They open at 5:00 and we went upstairs to the bar area. Ian was our bartender/ server and was quite a friendly young man. Very attentive but not overly a pest. Came up with some good recommendations about the menu. The lower level was pretty cool and the history about the building is fantastic, but the bar area felt warm to us. Everything was absolutely fabulous. We had the bone-in rib-eye, but we split it because it was 2lbs of Beef. Cooked perfectly and more than enough for us to split. Sautéed mushrooms on the side, baked potato and a salad. Damn good stuff !!! Our friend had the filet...also a generous portion. Oooohhhh..... and don't forget to ask for the biscuits. Absolutely over the top !!! Over hyped and over priced. I was very disappointed for the price you pay for it to be served on a plastic plate. Plastic cups. Those would have been fine if the food was good. You can go to outback steak house and get a tastier steak served on a glass plate with glass glasses and cheaper. Honestly I'm very shocked and surprised at the views this place has. I wouldn't recommend coming here. Mahogany serves steak on 400 degree plates.. yes hot plates.. while you're paying almost the same price at both places for your food to be served on plates they use to serve you at Golden Corral or a cheap buffet. read more
