Sorry if this is long but something seriously needs to be done about this!!! I just had the worst…read moreday today. I took my dog and cat to get groomed at Heartstrings pet lodging and spa on PHD. A girl named Megan groomed my cat. This is Leo. It was his first time going to the groomer. I've always been the one to groom him and he's never been aggressive... I took pictures of my cat before bringing him in incase anything happens, which is him on the left, before the groomers. Not even 15 min later I bring my dog back so she can wait to get groomed while Leo is getting groomed. The lady comes running out saying I should take my cat to the vet. I say what do you mean?? I walk in and see him on the table, they lift up a whole flap of skin and all I see is this huge gash! It looked like he was sliced by a knife and it was about 2 inches long. They said the wound was already here when I brought him in. Alright my cat had nothing wrong with him before I took him here. I IMMEDIATELY took Leo to the vet and the vet said this wound is FRESH. That it did not look like a puncture wound from another animal. That it either had to be the groomer or he got caught on bobwire which isnt possible under the circumstances. I waited for the owner of Heartstrings to arrive. He was a very rude old man named Rick. He didnt want to believe that my cat was wounded by his groomer even though everything is pointing to the groomer. I was very upset and he wasnt wanting to do anything about this situation or have any care about what happened to my cat. He refused to pay my cats vet bill and was just absolutely SURE that the groomer didnt do it even though theres NO CAMERAS! I have a picture of my cat right before taking him. I wish I got a picture of the gash but I was so stressed about taking him to the vet I didnt think about taking a picture I just have one after the staples and $300 vet bill. Can someone please help me on what to do about this situation because justice has to be done and I feel so left in the dark with this!

I love this place, but more importantly, my dog loves this place. I've lived in multiple states and…read morehave had to use numerous boarders for my dog. This is the first time I've felt completely comfortable when leaving my dog. Prior to being able to leave your pet overnight, they have to have spent a day in daycare being evaluated by the staff. The "temperament test" was only $5 when I did it and it's an opportunity for the staff to see how your dog interacts with others. Unlike most boarding facilities, there's no extra charge for your dog to be taken out of its crate for "play time". At Flying Fur, it's play time all day! They have a large facility, both outdoors and indoors, where the dogs all run free all day long. This is why the temperament test is important, to ensure more dominant dogs are not allowed into the population. Obviously, the major selling point for me is that the dogs are free roaming all day versus being crated. My dog doesn't play a whole lot, but it's a great feeling to know he's lying out in the sun and fresh air watching others play. The staff is comprised of dog trainers, so they definitely know how to care for your pet. And they definitely have an apparent love for animals. For no additional charge, Flying Fur offers little things here and there that make your visits special. I often leave my dog for extended weekends, and if your dog stays 3+ days, then they get a bath before going home. They just concluded their latest pig ear season, where certain days will get your dog a free pig ear. A few times a year, they'll have a professional photographer in to photograph your pooch if you'd like. We really are happy that we came across Flying Fur. We've been going for over a year now and they've never disappointed. I've scheduled stays weeks in advance, or called the night prior, and have always been accommodated. They've taken good care of my dog, and he always comes home happy and worn out. We won't go any other place for our boarding needs.

I boarded my pup here at the recommendation of a friend, but had a very bizarre and unpleasant…read moreexperience. Upon dropping off my pup, Katie told me that she loved shelter mutts and that they had such a special place in her heart. After about 24 hours of boarding, I got a text with a picture of my pup enjoying life and living large resting in a dog pool. She said that my dog was "doing great" and that he was "such a sweetheart". It was great to receive an update and I enjoyed my vacation knowing that my pup was happy and in good hands. After I returned from vacation, I excitedly rushed to pick up my fur baby when Katie told me that my pup had been a problem and asked if I had ever had any issues with him attacking other dogs. On the verge of tears I told her that there had not been any issues and then asked what happened. Katie exclaimed that my dog attacked 3 other dogs and that he had sent them to the veterinarian. I asked for pictures, owner's contact information, and veterinary bills so that I could pay for the damage and contact the owners, but Katie told me that I shouldn't worry about it and that "she wasn't even going to tell me". I thought this was very strange- I certainly need to know if my dog attacked 3 other animals! Katie told me that my pup had to be kept separate from other dogs and then described my lab mix as a "pitbull" and asserted that "all pitbulls get violent at some point or another". Later on in our conversation, Katie mentioned that she needed to take the 3rd dog (that my dog attacked) to the vet because my pup attacked him on the 4th of July when everything was closed. This made my ears perk up- It was the 5th of July and earlier Katie had asserted that my dog had been in isolation for the last few days... How could my dog have attacked a dog on the 4th if he was in isolation? When my pup was brought out he was visible shaken and he looked as if he had been running wild in the woods for a month. He was covered in scars/gashes, which a month and a half later, still have yet to heal. Luckily, after 3 days my pup stopped cowering and began acting like himself again. I can't imagine my pup acting violently, but at the end of the day he is an animal and I wasn't there to see what happened. Unfortunately, Katie couldn't produce any documentation to support her claims. I don't know what happened during my pup's stay at Blacksburg Critter Care, but it was not a pleasant experience and I highly recommend you take your fur baby elsewhere. My pup has stayed at Heartstrings several times now and we have not had any issues.

Owner seemed only interested in the rabies vaccination instead of complete vaccination history However owner seems to love the dogs.
