*** THIS OFFICE IS CLOSED ***…read more They closed with no notice to their patients! My family has been going here for years and Dr. Furst was one of my son's all time fav docs - he even performed surgery on him when he was under 4 years old and they had such a great and fun patient-doc relationship it was so awesome to watch. The entire staff at this practice were awesome too, from the receptionist to the nurse to the audiologist! We were very surprised to find the office closed with zero warning or notifications to their patients. So sad and disappointing but c'est la vie I guess. Best of luck to you Dr. Furst! I hope you retired and sure hope all is well. You will be sorely missed!!!

I originally had no issues with my nose. Due to some breathing discomfort between my throat and…read moretrachea, I went to see Dr. Furst. The doctor asked me to get a CT scan of my nose and neck. After reviewing the scans, he told me that I had a deviated nasal septum that needed surgical correction, and that there was inflammation in my sinuses that needed to be cleared out. He also said he would enlarge the sinus openings to allow mucus to flow more easily. I told him that I didn't feel any discomfort in my nose, so why was surgery necessary? He said that generally, the nose, throat, and trachea are connected--if the nose is fixed, everything else would get better. He assured me that I would fully recover in two weeks, and I believed him, so I went ahead with the surgery. It's been almost two years since the surgery, and I am living in agony. There's a buildup of mucus in my nasopharynx that won't drain down, can't be cleared out, and I can't swallow it either. At night, the mucus flows back into my airway, making it hard to breathe and affecting my sleep. Sleep is so important for a person--poor sleep leads to countless problems. I used to be someone who could fall asleep the moment my head hit the pillow, but now, because of the postnasal drip, I wake up constantly throughout the night. I have tried everything I can, but the thick, sticky mucus keeps accumulating in my nasopharynx. Sometimes, my nasal turbinates swell up, making it even harder to breathe. On top of all this, I now get bacterial infections in my nose almost every month, and each infection makes me suffer for one or two weeks! If I could go back two years, I would slap myself a hundred times for listening to that doctor's advice and agreeing to the surgery. When I went back to see Dr. Furst after the surgery, he told me my nose was fine. So here's the truth: I had no problem with my nose, the doctor told me I had a problem and performed surgery, and now that I'm worse, he claims there's nothing wrong. This is an extremely irresponsible doctor. I'm truly living a life worse than death now. If one day I'm no longer around, it will be because of the surgery Dr. Furst performed. His surgery didn't help me--it ruined me! Dr. Furst, if you ever see this message and if you have even a shred of conscience left, please contact me and work with a more competent doctor to help me recover!

Blue365 offers health and wellness discounts and is free to join. First off, Cosmetic Hearing Solutions: My audiologist there, Barbara Beck, has been absolutely wonderful. She administered an initial hearing test, then walked me through the various hearing aid options and which would best meet my needs. She listened carefully and answered every question I had. After I ordered a set of hearing aids, she scheduled two follow-up visits so far to program the hearing aids to meet my specific needs and make sure that they are working properly. She's patient, kind, knowledgable, and thorough. Second, Blue365 and Blue Cross: Blue Cross partners with various retailers and providers to provide its members with significant discounts and benefits through the Blue365 program. One of the providers on Blue365 is TruHearing, which offers discounts of between 30-60% off the price of hearing aids. TruHearing helped me find Cosmetic Hearing Solutions, set up the initial appointment, and handled all of the paperwork with the audiologist. Depending on your Blue Cross plan, current and retired federal employees can combine those discounts with a $2500 allowance toward the cost of hearing aids (with prior authorization). I only mention Blue Cross because of the great number of federal employees and retirees in the area. Blue Cross/Blue365 and TruHearing made it far more affordable to address my hearing problem than I thought. Don't think hearing aids are too expensive before you check out the benefits offered by Blue Cross and Blue365. I am thrilled with the hearing aids that Cosmetic Hearing Solutions found for me. I no longer feel like I'm missing out on conversations. I don't have to turn up the TV to hear it. I can stream phone calls, music and videos right through my hearing aids. They are lightweight and unobtrusive. They're great.

Don't waste your time with this business…read more Complaint #1: Had an appointment this past Monday morning and the audiologist called in sick. They attempted to contact me to cancel the appointment but my phone was off all of which is okay, BUT . . . When I showed up for the appointment the receptionist made me feel like it was all my fault that I had arrived, "blah, blah, blah." Sort of p!ss*d me off but whatever. LIFE HAPPENS. They set me up for an appointment for Friday of that week (which is TODAY!). To be clear, they did all the right things, I just resented being made to feel that it was all my fault. Complaint #2: Finished my 45 minutes of laps at the pool today and headed over towards the clinic. Grabbed a quick bite to eat and hit the clinic door 5 minutes before my appointment time...It's all good man. Said receptionist has my forms ready to fill out just waiting for me and I say, "Do you have a restroom I may use?" (fully expecting a "clinic" to have such facilities). She says, in the most disingenuous voice I may have ever heard, "I'm so sorry, it's not working." My internal Lie Detector immediately hit level 5 (the maximum) So I said, "I'm sorry, but would you repeat that?" She said, again, "It's not working." At which point I waved good-bye and hit the door. I ask you to imagine a scenario in which a clinic would be open without an operating restroom. Clearly a lie. I don't trust people I think are lying to me. Called Tru-Hearing Corporate before I wrote this.

Wrong description of my condition, wrong Billing Code, vague language that would mean it wouldn't be covered by insurance. When she gave it to me, I suggested it was incomplete. She laughed, snidely saying I was wrong. Another time, I mentioned nasal congestion, sinus congestion and difficulty breathing, suggesting aspirin might be the cause. She said this was impossible. She is dead wrong. It is widely known that aspirin can cause these symptoms. It's embarrassing and disturbing that she doesn't know this. Sharma wrote me a paper prescription for Voquezna. I asked her to send it electronically to CVS but she sent the wrong dosage. Getting the dosage wrong is a serious mistake that can kill people. When I saw her for back pain, she gave me cyclobenzaprine, which is contraindicated for patients who have a number of conditions that I have. Sharma never should have prescribed this. A potentially fatal error on her part. I ended up in the ER with severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, tingling in my arms and legs. I'd been fine beforehand. Sharma has very poor social skills and a non-existent bedside manner. During our consultations, she makes no eye contact, rarely speaks, and mumbles in a manner that's difficult to understand. She takes notes on a laptop throughout, instead of listening and responding to the patient. She clearly doesn't take accurate and complete notes, or chooses to ignore them when preparing prescriptions, orders, etc. Communication is one of the most important factors in healthcare. Her lack of adequate communication skills, coupled with her inability to avoid mistakes, makes her completely unsuited for the job. She is an embarrassment to the medical profession and dangerously incompetent. I have only seen Sharma a few times, but she's managed to cause a great deal of damage. She will undoubtedly harm more patients in the future, if her license is not revoked. As a side note, she attended an Ethiopian medical school ranked 751st in world.
