Apopka's dog park has a total of three fenced fields that are much bigger than most dog parks. They have a small dog area and large dog area with one rotated field that is closed to let the grass rest. Like most dog parks there is a water fountain for people and pets as well as buckets for the dogs. There are clean up stations, a time out area, and benches. The thing I like about this park is that there are massive oak trees that provide nice shade as well as plenty of open space for the dogs to run. The park is next to a cemetery and part of the West Orange Trail which makes it nice and quiet. Parking is about a block from the park, which isn't too big of a deal, unless it's 100 degrees like it was on the day we went!

Huge park. Plenty of room for many digs!

So much room! Not like other parks where small dog area is, well, small. Little dogs can really run here. If your dog is shy there's plenty of space so no problem separating yourselves if you want. Shady, trees, natural turf. The fencing is 6 ft high, if that's important to you. Seems most parks are the standard 4 ft fences.

I love taking my dog to the dog park! It is very spacious, clean, & safe. I am guaranteed safety for my dog. He absolutely loves it there. A feature that I love about this dog park is the fact that they have a side specifically for relatively small dogs & for big dogs. Overall, it's a great way to be outdoors & share some quality time with your dog

    Beautiful grounds.

This is a really great dog park located in the heart of Apopka. This dog park is one of the largest that I've ever seen. They have three sections: one for small dogs, the second for large breads, and the third for all. All come equipped with doggie fountains and sometimes you get lucky and find several kiddie pools for your pup to swim in. This park is very well mainteined and the grounds are gorgeous. There are plenty of poo stations throughout and I notice everyone does a good job of picking up after their pooch. If you don't bring your dog here well then you don't love your dog that much!

Big field with gate around it. One water spout & 4 benches. Nothing special about this dog park at all.

Hi everyone, I wish I could write a better review, but…read morehonestly, this dog park is disgusting. Mount Dora is a lovely town, and there are clearly lots of dog lovers here--but this park is a nightmare. We just arrived, and my dog was running around, excited to explore. Then he sat down... right in another dog's poop. I had to rush him to the car to clean him off. Absolutely gross and completely unacceptable. Yes, the park has three separate fenced areas for different dog sizes, and yes, each has a shaded terrace. But by the time you reach the terrace, you're stepping in so much dog poop that it doesn't even matter if it's shaded. You're going to have to turn right back around and clean off your dog and your shoes. Do not bring your dog here. Let the people who live in this neighborhood deal with their own mess. Unless your goal is for your dog to step in or sit in poop, this park is not worth your time. The good things about this park are completely overshadowed by how unclean and unmanaged it is.

There is also an agility training area with some equipment. Each park has water faucets and water bowls. One big deficiency however is that the small and large dog parks each have a pavilion to provide shade and protection from the rain whereas the middle dog park has nothing. The humans of the middle dog park even had to buy their own chairs to sit in while their fur babies play! We feel just like the middle child in a family-ignored.

I had mentioned it isn't a Florida trip without a gator sighting, and I was hoping to see one or two. My boyfriend's mom said I wouldn't be disappointed, and I am truly BLOWN AWAY at this stunning wildlife drive! This wildlife drive spans 11-miles and has quite the array of plant life and wildlife! Bird watching enthusiast? You'll love this place. Fan of ducks? Be prepared to watch them dip, dive, and be just plain cute. Looking for the Florida experience of spotting alligators? You won't leave without spotting one is what the ranger told us. We easily spotting over 50 different alligators! I've never seen one swimming in the water outside of St Augustine Alligator Farm, so I was mesmerized! We were even able to get out of our vehicle and spot a gator in the wild! Don't worry - I didn't get closer than 10ft as I know they could be dangerous! I foresee every time I'm in town asking to take a trip here as I admired the birds, ducks, alligators, views of the vegetation, and just taking in the beauty of Lake Apopka. Truly remarkable and worth taking a drive if in the area!

Sure, it's a scenic drive. We saw plenty of beautiful landscapes and some animals (mainly a few…read morealligators and plenty of birds). We even saw some large Florida Bass swimming near the shoreline. However, you will need plenty of patience making this "loop" when stuck behind selfish narcissistic idiots. What do I mean, being such an ass with that statement? When fools stop their vehicle every 10 yards and stay put for 5 to 10 minutes staring at yet another alligator, whose cousins they did the same to just moments earlier is an example. There were plenty of opportunities for these "lead" cars to use a turnout, or even pull to the right along a majority of this one way road, to allow others who might not be as enamored (or selfish) to pass by. Or how about the POS that stopped in the middle of the road, thus preventing anyone from passing (which they could have had he pulled to the right or left), only to get out of his car with his camera and 20 inch zoom lens so he could spend 10 minutes snapping a few photos. Sadly, for him and myself, I was stuck about 10 cars back and unable to give him a piece of my mind. And as others have pointed out - one way in and one way out. If you need to take a leak during this 3 hour "adventure" you are SOL. I can't even imagine what would happen if your vehicle sadly broke down or ran out of gas. I am not trying to discourage anyone from taking this scenic route, but be prepared (take drinks and snacks in case you get stuck in a conga line 30 cars deep). As for us - one and done! Let's see if I ever take the person's, who bragged about this cruise, recommendation again. I'd be hard pressed let's say. There are way too many (not a bad thing) beautiful scenic drives and hikes in this great State. Again, have patience if choose to take this excursion; or a sedative.

All I have to do is say 'park' to our dog and he will run down to the garage door and wait to get in the car! Fido Dog park (also known as the West Orange Dog Park) is located in a tree shaded area right off the turnpike and down the street from the local YMCA. There is lots of parking and its all shaded. The park is divided into two sections... one for smaller dogs and another section about 4 times the size for larger pups. Our dog gets so excited to come here and play with other dogs! There is a drinking fountain for the dogs but we normally just fill up some plastic buckets for them to drink out of. There is a walking path, a few sheltered tables, benches and some training devices for everyone to enjoy. There are even some 'time out' cages for pups who get to excited and need to chill for a bit. For the most part, everyone I have met at the park has been great. They are dog lovers and enjoy treating their pets to some off the leash free time. My dog loves it and has made some friends that they always enjoy playing with. But like any place, there are some people who don't control their dog or don't understand how dogs behave in groups. Different breeds act in different ways. If you know your dog might be a bit more aggressive with other dogs, keep an eye on him/her. In the two years I have been going to this park, I have had to leave twice because of bad owners treating other dogs poorly. I do wish they had a dog wash station or bench were we could hose off our pups. They do get muddy and dirty at times and I always have to bring a towel in the car for dirty rides back home. All in all, I like Fido dog park and I do recommend it for all types of dogs. Enjoy!
