Doc's is a local favorite. As a locals watering hole, with food on the side, it is likely 5 stars. My review is as a restaurant - on a Sunday afternoon, in early May. The Tom's Bayou overlook and scenery are excellent. Parking is limited, and likely to be an issue on a busy day. The limited seating is on two outside deck levels, and inside. Food orders are placed at the register/bar inside, like any fast food restaurant. The limited interaction with the staff found them to be proficient and friendly. The food. Fried seafood platter, chicken sandwich and fish tacos. The platter, at $16, consisted of three each oysters, shrimp, fish fingers and hushpuppies, all cooked the appropriate amount of time, and seasoned to appeal to most. The hushpuppies are on the sweet side, with bell peppers and onions. Fully half of the plate was french fries - which, as it turns out, were excellent camouflage for the smallest fish fingers I have ever encountered. I almost forgot the cole slaw. I either love a restaurant's slaw, or I don't. In this case, the only distinguishing character of the slaw was that it had no such property - and is easily forgotten. The grilled chicken sandwich was acceptible, and came without any mustard, mayonaise, etc. The tacos were also acceptable - and made of the familiar tiny fish fingers. All in all, the meals were acceptable, but not memorable, nor in any way positively remarkable. Ultimately, doc's is a locals watering hole. It has character and charm. So, if you are there drinking and socializing with friends, and you get hungry, you will at least be able to get a passable snack or meal. read more

What a great little spot! Right on beautiful toms bayou, great food, nice beer selection, Sunday ticket, good sized tvs viewable from every spot. Divey but clean atmosphere, and Bobby is pretty much the best bartender in town. Go here, you'll be glad you did! read more

Docs has some of the best sea food I've ever had at a really affordable price. If you're looking for a quick, bar-like seafood experience, Doc's is the place to be! They have a good selection of alcohol and the food here is exceptional. Way better than some of the fancier sit-in seafood restaurants around the area, and you get bigger portions of better tasing food at a more affordable price. I went to the crab shack on Ft. Walton recently and I paid over $30 for the same thing I get at Doc's for $13. Plus it didn't taste nearly as good as Doc's and the drink that I had barely tasted like it had alcohol in it. We came here actually thinking it was a different place, but glad we did. It's right on the water and the best description of it is a hidden jewel dive bar. The food was amazing. I got the bam bam shrimp tacos and they gave my tastebuds a tantalizing treat. A friend got the oyster plate and said they fresh were spot on. The poboy was also a huge hit. I looked at reviews and decided to try this place. Absolutely loved it! It's a quiet out of the way place that locals go to. We had oysters , fish tacos, gumbo and fried oysters. Everything was excellent, the fried oysters were the best we've had in a long time. They have an all day happy hour till around 6pm. Staff was VERY friendly. This my all time favorite place to go to visiting family in Niceville! I can't think of another place that provides the top quality,amazing food at great prices in a fantastic atmosphere than Docs! Where to start?? Oysters. Su the raw oysters here are fantastic but ya gotta try the grilled oysters. There are so many flavors to choose from so pick the 3 way to try a few. Then the smoked tuna dip is a must! Best around. And those fried pickles....oh my! So addictive. Any of the tacos is a great choice as is the PO boys and the fried fish basket. I don't think there is a bad item on the menu. Plus when you can sit on the back porch looking over the bayou, eat and drink yourself happy and watch the world go by,what more is there to ask for in life? Finally tried Doc's for coworkers going away dinner and I was thoroughly impressed. Their chicken wings are massive. I loved their fries and seafood platter. They give you your 2nd drink on the house if you're Military. Overall enjoyed everything I ate here but the most memorable things were the wings and fries. My husband got oysters and he enjoyed them. You have to order your food inside and pay, take a number then they'll bring your food out to you. read more

Ordered a little bit of everything since it was our first time being here. You order at the bar and they bring the food to your seat. Staff was extremely friendly. All of the food was delicious and we didn't have any complaints. This was the best restaurant we've eaten at our whole trip. Great atmosphere for grabbing drinks with friends or coworkers. I went most recently on a Wednesday night which was pretty great due to the entertainment from the karaoke! Just don't expect a server/waitress to tend to you; once you get your food you're pretty much on your own haha! read more

The food was excellent at this place. It's a nice hidden gem. We had the house oysters and oysters Rockefeller. They were both delicious with the perfect amount of spice. The gumbo was also top notch you dont have to add anything to it. Servers were very helpful and kind. I recommend this place to anyone looking for great food. We were in need of a good seafood fix on our way to he coast for vacation. This was a slight detour but well worth it! Delicious fried and boiled shrimp. Tasty homemade tartar and cocktail sauces. I'm giving it 4 stars for the ambiance. The inlet makes for a peaceful setting for dinner. They seemed yo be a bit busy to bring what we had asked for, but it really something of a big deal. I had a shrimp po-boy with fries which was really good, but I would have liked to have had the fries be seasoned with some type of seasoning. The water was horrible; however, Val-p never had a reputation for good tap water. Next time I go, I'll ask for bottled water. read more

The food was delicious! Not overly greasy, even though everything seemed to be fried, and the oil used tasted fresh. The hush puppies were so much better than anywhere else I've been. The part I didn't like were the overly drunk parents with small children. Love the live music and extremely friendly atmosphere. The food is great and if you can't find an oyster that you like... you don't like oysters! They have them prepared so many way. The wife loves the raw and I like them fried, while our friends prefer them grilled in several variations. We have many of our friends hooked on this place now... I live three blocks from this restaurant and really enjoy the convenience, ambiance, food, and scenery. It is a really cool place and from time to time have excellent musicians playing. The food has always been good also. However, until they can correct the way they take orders and put in place a wait staff I will have a hard time returning. The current order process is extremely frustrating when you have to wait 10 min in line to order a beer/drink and then when you want another you have to go through the same process again. It never fails that you get behind 3 or 4 people that can't make up their mind what they want or have many questions about the menu. I went through this process twice on Wednesday June 8, 2017 before giving up and going to another local spot. I can't fault the girl at the cash register, she was extremely efficient and nice but was put in a difficult situation by management on a busy night. This place has tremendous potential but until they can figure out the customer service side of the business I will have to go elsewhere. read more

Every.Single.Dish here is delicious. Their sauces are amazing. They have good craft beer among other drinks. They also do a buy one get one beer for military. Not to mention it's right on the water. It's peaceful and beautiful. It looks like a hole in the wall when you first pull up but they practice good sanitation. They do say the best restaurants are the hole in the wall restaurants.
