I have to say that I kind of love Doc's Inn for the dive bar that it is. Reminds of a place that I love back in Bakersfield, CA called the Mint which was laid back and had all walks of life come thru. The drinks are good and are reasonably priced. Was here with a group from CalArts after a film showing. Fun bar that was able to accommodate a good number of people and types. Us older folks sat out back on the patio and was able to talk and enjoy the music. The younger ones were inside singing and have a lot of fun it appears. Good beers on tap and looked like a good selection of out liquid refreshments. Tab was outrageous when we closed it. Fun good dive bar night! read more

There are two reasons you go to a bar. One is for camaraderie. The other is to drink. Doc is a drink bar. It's a bar you can go alone, or go with a friend, and just... get a drink. And barring a one out of a hundred moment - or you are idiot enough to discuss politics with someone who just polished off a very reasonably priced pitcher of beer (They have pitchers!) - it's a great quick hang. Definitly a dirty dirty dive bar with a crazy bar maid and such, but the best one in the valley for sure! The people are friendly, the bands are mostly good, and I could sit and play darts all night long if i wanted to. Cant beat that!! But be prepared for dirtyness and weird people. Doc's is a great bar! Formally known as The Irish Harp, and the Trist, this classic bar's ambience will take you back to a time of 60's muscle cars and 70's chic. The drinks are cheap, the regulars treat you like a regular and the bartenders are sassy in a good way. Brenda is gorgeous and knows how to mix drinks better than most! Laurenchia is cute, fun and pours a mean beer and knows how to mix drinks. Ellie is a master drink mixer, beautiful and can make anybody feel like a regular. Bartender Dave is full of stories and will make you feel at home. Candice is also a drink mix master and beautiful. She looks like a young Lynda Carter and she will make you feel at home. Ken the doorman keeps the place safe. The bands on Friday and Saturday nights are top notch and will rock the hell outta this place! Enjoy the patio, fireplace, dart boards, jukebox, and easy street parking or park in the front or back parking lots. If you come through the back gate please don't let the gate slam. Wow - that's all you can really say when you walk in. It's dark, it's dirty, and there's a good chance you'll be engaged in conversation with some of the more ... 'colorful' elements of the community, but all in all, I like it here. Often confused for a hotel by people thumbing through the phone book, Doc's Inn is a tiny little joint off of Lyon's avenue in Newhall, about a half mile east of the 5 freeway. Parking in the front is extremely limited, but there's a lot in the back, and plenty of street parking on the side street. The staff is helpful and friendly, and if you show up more than two or three times, you begin to feel like part of a huge, dysfunctional family. The prices on drinks are great, and they always have a steady supply of pretzels to munch on. Not to mention some really decent mustard to go with. Wednesday night is traditionally karaoke night, and all the Wednesdays I've been going there have large turnouts, and more often than not, people start dancing before too long. Saturdays there's almost always live music, and though I couldn't tell you who any of the bands are, it's still a good time. There are two dart game machines and a Golden Tee machine in the place, and a large smoking patio in the back. The clientèle range in age from 21 to quite a bit higher, but the average age swings different directions on different nights - karaoke tends to be a slightly younger crowd (that I've seen). In the end, this is my neighborhood bar, and it's a gritty little place, but you just can't beat walking in where you're greeted with a hug, or a smile, or a question about what's been going on lately - Katka, Mary, Tammy, the whole crew is just phenomenal. While I'm waiting, she's talking to other patrons about a guy that she met at work that has a BIG cock he has. I asked for my beer & she gave me a look that I was ruining her story. No more, man. They have great rock bands usually on Saturday nights. It's the last place in scv not overrun by 22 yr Olds. I've met at least 7 or 8 people over the past couple years that say the Russian bartender is unbelievably rude. The other one (that sings sometimes) is very nice. Doc's Inn, like any great dive bar, can be very hit and miss depending on when you atend. I've had fantastic evenings, and nights where the place has been a ghost town. The best part of Doc's is Scheree (Probably spelled that wrong)! She is an awesome bartender. Always pleasant, loves to rock out to the juke box, etc. I've had so so experiences with some of the other bartenders, however, Scheree keeps me coming back! read more

Went to listen to the vinyl gypsies this evening, and they're a wonderful group to be able to listen to. This little Dive Bar provided a nice little atmosphere and it was enjoyable time. However, what was a real stand-up was how these bartenders kept that by removing and just terrifically clean at all times. It was a fun night. Should do it again. read more

This is my favorite local dive bar. Interesting people, refreshing drinks. Take it for what it is. A good place to stop and get some medicine after a crappy day at the office. I came in last night for a quick beer. I ordered a beer from a the bartender (wears a hat). I gave her a 20 dollar bill. She poured me a beer and I turned my back for about 1 minute to greet a friend. I turned around and the bartender was no where to be found . I waited for about 5 minutes and she reappeared. I asked her for my change from the 20 dollar bill. She said "I set it on the counter". There was a man in a ball cap sitting to my left. I asked him if he saw my money. He was evasive and said he did not know. It was apparent that the bartender knew this person. Not sure who took it, but it sure stinks of a scam!!! Good luck with my 15 dollar. Either the bartender is a thief, her customer friend is a thief. Or both!! Be careful. And on top of that she just blows me off....great customer relations. read more

Let me start by saying i hate the Santa Clarita Valley for "going out". I frequent a lot of amazing places but I still am dumbfounded by this local gem. The staff is amazing, since the first time my roommates and myself went there they have not only been receptive but welcoming and kind. The service has been exquisite... and the drinks/prices more then fair. I would like to make special mention of one bartender who is the reason i continuously frequent Docs, Katka, while not trying to seem sycophantic, she pours your drink expediently, and with a smile. She is also (In my humble opinion) the best bartender around. She engages every customer in a sincere way, no matter their level of inebriation and makes a great rep-or with them. I think most of the reviews got it right. Problem is not everyone likes the same things. Yes there were weirdos, freaks, business people, ex strippers, and college kids there. Some people like that, some don't. The place was small, cozy, and crowded. Some people like that, some people don't. They had a pretty good singer on that Saturday night. I thought the Jukebox was kind of low during his breaks. Could have used louder music since there is a small dance floor. But, some people like loud music and some people don't. The bartender seems to get mixed reviews on here. I didn't have a problem with her, but I got the feeling she prefered to be somewhere else. She did ask my wife if she had a safe ride home, so points for seeming to care. So you can see how it gets mixed reviews while reviewers are saying the same thing. The place did what it was intended to do. It allowed me to get drunk and people watch without breaking my wallet; and my wife had a good time. Minus one star for weak Jack and Coke. read more

A true "dive" and I mean that in a good way. Cheap drinks, an entertaining crowd and great bands on most Fridays/Saturdays!

The location is a land mark for neighborhood bars. It used to be the Irish Harp, then the world famous award winning bartender Bobbie Batugo, formerly of Tip's, bought it and the name changed to The Tryst. He opened a second Tryst in Northridge?-Reseda? just off Roscoe & Balboa. I don't know when it became Doc's. It truly doesn't warrant the "dive bar" classification. It's more of a neighborhood bar. On any given night, there are always people there. Some from COC, CalArts, locals and the stumble ins. Karaoke is fun and the younger crowd sings some current metal, and they're for the most part really good. Then you have the regular bar flys & some crazy's, but all in all an ecclectic mix. Live music Friday & Saturday, mostly cove from the 80's through the 2000's. I have only heard 1 band that I don't like, the others are very talented musicians and singers. The staff is what makes the difference, especially Mary, Katka, Randy, Tami and Sherie. If you really want to visit a "dive" head out to AV, Mojave or Rosamond, bigggg difference. P.S.
