Covid times have proved to be HITTY!!! But I drove by Schoonerville today and saw it was open. I've been here before. It's a bar. Sad no entertainment tonight. But we are dealing with covid times. I just needed to feel normal for a few minutes. The closures in my GOLDEN state have blown my mind and broken my heart. The other patrons were kind and conversational. It was nice to be out. I'm making the best of having to be outside. Not sure how the rain and winter weather will treat us if Newsom keeps us locked down the rest of the year. Praying that the RONA and the lockdowns end. I came to this establishment by accident one time and after that the rest was history! I absolutely love this place!! They have awesome bartenders not to mention how attentive they are. Ive officially met the owners and we have became family. Rich and Cindy are some of the best people I've met!! They have pool tournaments every Monday and Thursday and dart tournaments as-well so bring some cash and skill if you think your up to it. Not only is this bar a low grade bar, but they over pour and they don't know how to be professional. It's no wonder why so many DUIs are given to patrons who leave this bar. If you think wasting alcohol by over-pouring is going to win over your customers, it may, but it's a bad business move. It may even cause legal issues and problems in the future. So we brought our Bluetooth speaker in (after we dropped $5 on music) played two songs (rufus du sol) and she obviously didnt like it and asked us to turn it off. I have been coming here occasionally for a long time and the staff has always been friendly and upbeat. They have good bar type food and the beer is cold. So I was already tipsy and on foot, but being a pro at keeping it together I'm fairly sure you couldn't tell. I walk in and the first thing I notice was that it looks like a cafeteria at a mental hospital. White tile floors and a, um, spacious layout with random tables surrounded by generic metal chairs. The "bar" looks more like a cafeteria counter, it really does. They have a little kitchen behind it. Like right behind it. And they have coolers that look like jacked display coolers from AM/PM. As soon as I walked in the music screetched to a halt and all these weird, mildly obese men turn around and stare at me. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I was standing there with the door open slowly trying to decide if I really wanted to have a beer here before I headed home. But, eventually, I decided that I did. So I wobble up to the bar and take a seat. And sit. And sit. While the bartender stands talking to people at the other end of the bar, staring at me. I decide, "It's slow, she's chatting. I have all night, I'll give her 5 minutes." 5 minutes comes and goes. I raise my hand politely. Nothing. I walk by "on my way to the bathroom" and ask, "Could I get a Bud Light when you get a chance?" Nothing. I come out of the bathroom and, lo and behold, there's a bottle of Bud Light right where I'm sitting! So I drink it and watch Wheel of Fortune or whatever was on the old, crappy tube TV. But it's quiet and no weirdos are bothering me, so I decided I'd have one more. After about 15 minutes of waiting, being stared at, simply saying "excuse me?" to which I got a I decided I wasn't enough of an alcoholic to wait. So I walked home. read more

This is a pretty nasty dive bar. I visited on the basis of reviews on Yelp, but what I found was not a great neighborhood dive bar. Servers acted like it was an imposition to take our order and bring our drinks. We left after a single drink. About the servers--they were dressed trashy with blonde wigs. I didn't know the "hooker" look was in. If I was wanting to improve my tips, I think I would smile at the customers and be more welcoming. One of Santa Clarita's best kept secrets, I'm a big fan of Schoonerville, mainly because it is off a lot of people's radar. It's a good ole hometown- working class- kind of bar. People go there to unwind and drink a beer with friends. It's small but they have several TVs (usually sports, but if you want to watch something else they have no problem changing one TV to your liking), a pool table, and electronic darts. On Friday & Saturday nights they usually have a live band. If you're looking for a gourmet meal, you might have to go elsewhere, it's your typical bar grill food, not bad but not necessarily good either...unless you happen to catch a day when they're cooking up a special, then look out because you're in for a treat and they usually serve it up free. Nothing fake or pretentious about this place...just good beer and good people. It won't be long until you think of this place as "my bar". read more
