This has to be the friendliest auto shop on the planet. Made appointment for multiple service issues, and I was first in the shop. Never had an auto service shop keep an appointment before. The crew also has an open mind for LISTENING to the customer. As the work went on and issues came up, they listened to and followed my special instructions. I had changed my battery size from factory to a larger size and explained how new fords need a "BMS" reset when getting a new battery. They were happy to know this and took care of it. On January 20th, Presidents' Day, I received a call from my son, who lives in Cookeville, regarding a problem with his car. I headed to Cookeville to spend the day with him, and after eating breakfast, we ventured over to Doc's Auto Repair. I met a mechanic in the parking lot and he looked and listened to the problem, gave me his thoughts on the problem, and suggested I talk with the service writer in the office. I went into the office, described the problem to the gentleman behind the counter. He was pleasant, and he smiled the entire time I was there. That was a nice and different experience. He took my information and the keys, said they would get it in right after lunch and call me back with a diagnosis and the plan to repair the problem. I hung out with my son for a few more hours then received a call with the problem, and another small problem that had been discovered while looking at the car ( o-ring causing oil leak, very common on Infiniti's) And the plan and price to perform the repairs. I gave the okay and he told me that would try to complete the repair before they closed at 5. I thanked him. About 4:30, I received another call from a lady at Doc's Auto Repair, notifying me that the repairs were complete and the car was ready to be picked up. I had just left Cookeville heading back home, so I called my son and told him that he could go get his car, it was ready now. He went to Doc's, picked up his car and was elated that it was completed. Thank you Doc's for treating us very fairly, just like I lived there! That fair deal means more than you know, and doing business that way will make sure that you are around as long as you want to be. That's my experience at Doc's Auto Repair, until this morning, the 27th. Today, I received a call with an opportunity to take a survey. My son had a tire situation late at night and had to be towed by AAA, and we are so lucky that that is the place it went!! We live over an hour from where he got stuck, so we knew nothing about who was taking care of our vehicle. It was a tricky situation involving lug nuts on custom wheels which was not an easy fix. The folks at Docs went out of their way to help us locate bolts that would fit these wheels. Communication was great. These people are so very kind and helpful; I wish they were in our town! read more

Most honest people I've taken my car to. Had this other auto shop in Cookeville tell me my brakes are bad and needed to be replaced as soon as possible I came to Docs to get them checked out and my brakes are good just needed to be lubricated and don't need replaced. And their prices are reasonable, not overpriced. read more

My wife was traveling east on I40 from Arkansas to Washington DC this past March and hit a tremendous chug hole about 20 miles west of Cookeville. She had just had new tires installed and the car aligned before leaving home and it started to vibrate and pull to the right. She called me (I'm at work in D.C.) and I get online and read up on where she might go. Read the reviews for Doc's and some other local shops and called him and he was waiting. Dan Lee drove the car, called me to say what he thought it needed. An then kept the shop open an extra hour to do another alignment. The car drove perfectly after their work and the price was very reasonable. We go back and forth through there frequently and though I hope we'll never have car trouble again we absolutely would not hesitate to go back to Doc's......I might even buy my next set of tires as I go through there......... read more

My vehicle needed an alignment so I decided to try Doc's Auto in Cookeville. Called and asked them if they could complete the work by the end of the day and was assured that the work would be completed that day. Dropped the vehicle off and later that afternoon received a phone call stating that they weren't able to get to my vehicle and if I could leave it over the weekend until Monday. If it were my business I would keep my word and stay untitled the job was done. Very disappointed! read more

Excellent service! Dan and staff were extremely helpful to our family when our car broke down while on vacation. They diagnosed the problem and we were able to get our car towed back to Nashville for the lengthy repair (needs a new engine). He was honest and trustworthy and went out of his way to give us a ride around town while waiting. I wish his shop was in Nashville so we could take our cars to him! Excellent experience! read more

I was 900 miles from home when I lost a lug nut from a back tire. Early the next morning I called to see if my tire/wheel could be checked over /lug nut replaced, and was taken care in between jobs by a very helpful group of personnel at this place of business.
