I was soooo not into this restaurant when I stumbled across it today, but this is one of the BEST!!! AA breakfast selection to die for, pleasant waiters, top of the line brunch offerings! Wow... Simply Wow! And the full bar was BRILLIANT.,.. read more

It was Friday night, and upon arrival, the bar was packed. I wandered into the dining area, looked around the patio section, and it took about 15 minutes just to find someone to tell me that the dining room seating was by reservation, but that the patio section was seat yourself. So, I went outside and seated myself, where I sat for over 20 minutes before a waitress came by- that I had to wave at- and asked how I was doing. I ordered a cocktail, a couple of smoked ribs (from the bar menu), and asked to see a dinner menu. I had been there for almost 45 minutes by the time I had a little food and a drink. That being said, the margarita tasted quite good as did the smoked ribs, which arrived on the cooler side of warm such that I couldn't tell if they intended to serve them hot or cold. The chille relleno that finally arrived was truly excellent, though it arrived warm, not hot. I ordered a second cocktail, interested to try another from the long list of creative largely tequila based drinks, but it never arrived. Dinner for one- 1 drink, one app, one entree- took an hour and a half. This place clearly has a large regular local crowd for a hotel restaurant. The wait staff seemed to know almost everybody in the place and I felt as if they really wanted me to know that I was the outsider, and not really welcome. Mission accomplished. It took a long time to get the check as well, which nobody came back to collect, so I left cash on the table and exited. Very solid food and drink, but really poor, super slow service. read more

I enjoyed my dinner very much! I had the Chile Reline. The bar tender said that is what they were known for. I also liked it was one of the cheaper entrees at 20.00. However, the Relleno was very very good. I liked the crust. It is deep fried but, in my opinion, it is light and not as greasy as one would think with it being deep fried. The beans and rice complimented the relleno very well! read more

Came here with high expectations based on Yelp and other reviews, expected Taos' best chile relleno. And at $25/plate for two, they better be great! Well, it wasn't for lack of trying, these were gourmet all the way. Crispy fried with nice crunchy batter and overflowing rich mild cheese filling, with pepitas and guacamole and goat sour cream (a first for me). But they just weren't my cup of tea. Certainly good, just not savory enough to be great. Maybe it's because toppings can't make up for the lack of a great sauce. Dunno. But at this price I'd look elsewhere. (Note though the table next to us loved them - it's personal taste what you look for in a relleno.) For me though, this wasn't it. Served in a nice little courtyard with flowers, in a nice historic hotel & restaurant with wood beams and ambience. Three stars definitely stingy but I just can't get to four, especially at the price. read more

I'm going to say go Sunday mornings before 12 o'clock but after 11 get 3 bloody marys and order some breakfast to soak them up a little walk out of there for under 25 bucks - on your way to another beautiful week in taos. beware the bloodies here can range from astringent to bottom of the ocean, always strong, always a lot of character. read more

Came here for brunch on Sunday and was not disappointed. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which hit the spot. My boyfriend got the veggie benedict with spinach and tomato. Both were great. My breakfast burrito had eggs, home fries, and chorizo (but you can choose ham or bacon) and came smothered in green chile. It was enormous at (probably) a foot long. We ordered fresh squeezed orange juices, which were so good it made me immediately want to go buy a juicer....but at $4 for a small glass it seemed a bit much. That was half the price of our meal! There are too many other good options for lunch/dinner around the area, but if we stayed at the Inn again, we'd probably stop in here for a quick brunch. *Note* Brunch is only Saturday/Sunday from 7:30am-2:30pm read more

It was very busy night so the wait for the food was about an hour or so but that was an excuse for more margaritas.5 stars because I know how it is when you get pretty busy in a restaurant but I ordered the lamb it was worth the wait. read more

When we came to listen to the music at the Taos Inn Sunday night, Issa kindly arranged to have us sit in the restaurant but close to the bar so we could hear the music while sampling the restaurant menu. We had a great meal of salmon, chili stew, and enchiladas. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned Wednesday evening, requesting the same table. Our waiter Subra was amazing, friendly but professional and discreet. He suggested a wonderful wine to accompany my husband's steak, which was cooked just as he requested. My scallops were seared to perfection, with Chef Jackson's signature flavors. The inn and restaurant have new owners, and it is clear that they are working to deliver quality in both food and service. read more

This was one of the most horrible experience in customer service I've ever had. The meal as simple as blue corn enchiladas with an egg on it was an hour long wait. Two groups who were seated after us and were served before we were. The wait staff were rude and didn't bother to check if we needed refills. Was it because we had just rode in after 7 hours on Harley's. I am not sure but I would avoid this place at all cost. There are higher rated restaurants within minutes. read more

The only redeeming thing about this absolutely horrible place was our kind, accommodating and harassed looking server. I ordered the Buffalo steak which was bland and uninspired while my Fiancée's "Local vegetable plate" was a greasy, bitter, inedible mess. She had to send it back and we finally ended up getting her a bunch of entree garnishes that were tolerable. We consoled ourselves with the fact that we only went to this place because it happened to be the only one open at 9:30 on a Friday night! Two thumbs, two toes and every appendage down! This may just be the WORST RESTAURANT IN NEW MEXICO!!!! read more

Really couldn't have asked for anything better. Sat on back outdoor patio & all was peaceful (until unruly toddler arrived with inattentive parents)z. Service was great!! Arrived for Saturday brunch. I had omelette with ham, cheese & green chilies that was amazing. Fluffy eggs & served with potatoes & speciality muffin. House Margarita as drink made all perfect in my world!! Husband had avocado toast & proceeded to dissect the dish in an attempt to recreate when we get home. Definitely recommend & will go back! read more

Very disappointing. Went on the thanksgiving day, no choice cuz all others are closed. Waited for 1.5 hrs to get seated, which I understand, no reservation. However. After We got seated, took the waitress 15 mins to get to us. Took 30 mins no exaggeration, to have the bread. Took another 45 mins to have the dishes up for what we ordered. My wife ordered the lamb, u know what, it's like the sheep or lamb just got killed, can't tell how bloody it was. My wife's pregnant, even a normal person i can't chew the lamb. Asked them to recook, came out back burned outside, still bloody inside that nobody cud chew it. We wrapped up and didn't finish at all, including my ribeye, I had medium. That was definitely rare.... we asked for check, took another while to get it done. It was thanksgiving, we d still tipping good for the hard work on holidays. But the restaurant is a No-go!!!!!! We travel to Taos and only stay one night. Ruined the night . Sigh. Happy thanksgiving! read more

Oh my- we went on Harley weekend on a Saturday afternoon which is fine if you like LOUD motorcycle noise throughout the place. One waitress was working the entire bar area, and she was barely qualified to wait on 2 tables at once. We got our appetizer and were done with it when she finally brought the drinks (with no apology for the slow service). When she finally dropped off the cocktails we asked for our check to speed things up. It took 10 minutes longer to get it. The salsa was good, but worth the wait and spotty service? Nope! read more

Best margaritas in town...if you're looking for a fun place to hang, watch the world go by and even catch some locals...this is the place for you! Most of the margaritas here are worth a try but you can skip the food...it's like most average New Mexico restaurants. read more

Doc Martin's restaurant at the Taos Inn is as good as it gets in Taos, NM. After 23 years skiing at Taos, I just enjoyed another Christmas to New Years ski vacation at the Taos Inn. Only my second year at the Taos Inn though, I was again blown away with the quality of food at their Doc Martin's restaurant. There was no need to leave the hotel to get fine food in Taos because it was all just steps away from my hotel room. Chef Skippy White ( as I recall that is his name) is a real hidden secret in Taos. With 2 dinners and 1 breakfast there, each meal blew me away. Subra was our waiter the first night and his service truly matched the quality of the Chef's food. I can't wait to hang with you guys again next December. read more

Great sandwiches and burgers in a comfortable, classic atmosphere. Turkey sandwich and green chile burger were some of the best food we've had in Taos. Attentive service, as well. read more

Good place in Taos for drinks and dinner. Decent food with OK veggie options. Nice wine list too.

We visited 2 times in two days because it was so great. Top Shelf Margaritas and the BEST Hatch Chili Rellanos I've ever had! Chef Romo is amazing. Live music along with great drinks, great service and outstanding food makes the Taos Inn a must visit in Taos. May even go back tomorrow. read more

Great atmosphere, absolutely horrible service, and the food is just dumped on your plate. I've never experienced a kitchen staff and front house staff that seemed to care so little. I hope things turn around for this place because it is a really beautiful place. read more

While staying at the Taos Inn, we had dinner at Doc Martin's and enjoyed it. The corn bread and queso appetizers we good and I had a filet that was cooked perfectly. Also enjoyed the margaritas and romantic atmosphere of the historic restaurant. Rooms at the inn are very small but was okay for one night. read more

We eat here regularly with step son and his family. This is a kid friendly place. Staff here know them and are very good with the kids. We've tried different meals and they are all very tasty. read more

This is the second time in two years that my husband and I ate at Doc Martin's. We had started with the spinach salad, the roasted garlic and goat cheese appetizer. We had the blue corn chicken enchiladas with both red and green chili sauce. We finished with Apple and blueberry pie with blueberry ice cream. We will come back next time we make it to Taos. read more

A bit pricey BUT.,. The chili rellenos!! Are you kidding me?!?!? I cannot believe just how incrediblely good these are The wine menu reads like a saga. Very good selection. But again I cannot stress enough. If you eat here you MUST try the rellenos!! read more

The live music in the lobby gives you a false impression that this will be a loud restaurant but it is actually on the quiet side. While kid friendly from a staff and menu perspective, the patrons our night were not amused by our 3 road trippers with excess energy. Our clam pasta dish (a special for that night) and the shrimp enchiladas with green sauce were both amazing. The waiter was extremely nice and always there when we needed something. If you like art, the restaurant features an artist throughout the place with a price tag if you are interested. We would definitely go back. read more

Creative dishes, fresh (often local) ingredients, amazing wine list, welcoming atmosphere. A must-visit if you're in Taos! And be sure to ask the sommelier why he keeps the wines in a bomb shelter. read more

We sat down in the kiva, next to the fireplace and it was cozy on a cold New Year's Eve. I ordered Da' Reuben....one of the best I've tasted. My mother ordered the same entree with a spinach salad. To her surprise she ate an anchovy instead of bacon. The tea was very strong and no ice when refilled. My father loved the Local Pulled Pork Tostada...he thought it was prepared Oaxacan style and loved it. We're returning next time we're in town! Our waitress, serving in the bar, was very busy but managed her tables in an efficient manner...great personality. read more

Stopped by The Taos Inn to have a drink in the Adobe Bar. There was a large crowd there, everyone was very festive. We had a couple of really great cocktails and spied Doc Martins off the other side of the Taos Inn lobby. Long story to get to my review, bear with me. We stepped up to the hostess (who was sweet but a bit enamored with herself) to find there was a twenty minute wait for a table. After we asked if we should wait in the Adobe Bar she allowed that there was a bar in Doc Martins, but only two chairs, we fit right in! She also told us that the bartender would wait on us if we wanted to eat there. An even more perfect fit!! Laura, the Bartender did a superb service, allowing us to taste several delicious wines on their list, made great suggestions about the menu, and we ordered a couple of items off the appetizer list and a chicken enchilada entree. The relleno appetizer was as good as all of the locals state, great coating of crushed blue corn tostadas, delicious green chile sauce. I also ordered the clams with chorizo. That was really delightful, found out they make their own sausages there at the restaurant. The chicken enchilada was good, the chicken was really fresh and tasty. All in all a great experience, especially when the service was over the top and allowed us a personal one-on-one feel! I highly recommend Doc Martins, and if they're busy and there are just two of you, try sitting at the bar! read more

This is a follow up to my original review. I posted the first prior to this second incident, and I feel like I've had time to rethink things, settle down and I'd like to add more. After closing time, in lieu of disturbing hotel guests on a beautiful night in the courtyard, my coworkers and I were enjoying a cold beverage in the parking lot. You'll never guess who parks in the same lot as guests staying at the hotel. Yes. Mary P. She walks by with a snide comment about us trashing up the parking lot. Wow. We let it go, but it gets worse. She pulls out in her car, rolls the window down and says "Thanks for the tip, by the way" She got the tip she earned and deserved. Not a lot more to that. You work in a service industry. A tip is certainly customary, and likely expected, but when you're an asshole to people you don't deserve any in my book. She's fortunate she got anything from our table considering her behavior. Now I'm not sure if this is a phrase, is tip-shaming a thing? Sure feels like we were tip-shamed on a 9.66 tab. Who in their right mind would continue to patronize an establishment where their server is obviously unhinged? I appreciate the fact this establishment reads and responds to yelp reviews. It shows they care. The image of your business, and of the Taos Inn relies on your employees on the front line. They are the ones representing you to the public. Hopefully you can screen your employees better going forward and take appropriate action when ugliness like this arises. read more

Heard good things. I was not impressed. Food was cold and came out to the table in spurts meaning as a party of eight four were served and 5 min later the other four. Some were finished before others received their food and the restaurant was over half empty with customers. read more

Food was great (try the Chile Relleno!).... but what happened to the wines by the glass selections??? We were so excited (after speaking to the "wine guy" last Fall) to see an aggressive push to serve "natural" wines... now there is a bunch of grocery-store wine! read more

The food is good and the service is very cordial but waiting 20 minutes for my salad and an hour for my entree is way too long!

Altogether, I liked my experience here pretty well. I enjoyed my elk steak quite a bit, except there was a miss-placed birthday candle in my salad. Kinda odd. I would definitely like to come back sometime. read more

I highly recommend the rattlesnake and rabbit sausage with cherry sauce. Where else but Taos can you find predator and prey all in 1 bite? The wild boar empanadas and margaritas were also very good. Great service and atmosphere. read more

I've stayed at the Taos Inn every time I visit over the years (except that one time, and it just wasn't the same), and during most stays, I've eaten at Doc Martin's at least once. One year, my BFF and I went up to Taos for Thanksgiving (she lives in Albuquerque) and we had our T-giving dinner at Doc Martin's. She had the traditional turkey dinner, and I had the red chile rubbed pork tenderloin dinner, we both had wine and dessert, and I remember it was a big splurge for us (the bill was close to $100), but oh-so worth it delicious. Usually when we eat there, we'll go for breakfast or lunch though, because we're a little more budget conscious when traveling. I was visiting Taos again just 2 weeks ago with my sister, and we stayed again at the Taos Inn. We decided to have breakfast at Doc Martin's the Sunday we were there, and split a mixed berry muffin (yum!) and my sister ordered the Kit Carson breakfast (poached eggs on yam biscuits with red chile and home fries) and I had Annabelle's Green Chile which came with a tortilla and salsa fresca. We swapped dishes halfway through so we could enjoy a bit of both, and were nicely full once done. The green chile was a bit spicy, but pleasantly so. My sister had coffee and said it was very good (I had a sip, it was), and this was her first time having poached eggs (I KNOW, where HAS she been?), so it was all in all a tasty and adventurous experience for her. ;-D Our bill was just over $20, and we planned to use a credit card, but the waitress was very busy and didn't come by, so we just left cash and split. read more

Was in town for one night and decided to try this place. I first got a margarita at the bar and ordered the lamb shank. All the margaritas a pretty small, but tasty. I ordered the food to go. After my last sip, the food arrived. I devoured it and my dog enjoyed the bone. It was cooked to perfection. If I go back, I would probably get the exact same thing. I rarely eat meat, but this was worth it. It's local lamb. read more
