There was already 6 cars waiting at the gate. Such a busy place! The volunteers were all very helpful. We were able to see the dog we had in mind, but another couple had their eye on him first so we went to see the other dogs in the back. Everyone was so kind and personable. After 5-10min, the original volunteer told us the couple left and did not adopt the doggo we were looking at so we got to adopt him within the hour. All dogs are neutered/spayed, bordatella, flea treatment, heart worm tested, and given a few other vaccines. They are also microchipped. I felt the staff had genuine care for these pets and wanted the best for them. Thank you again!

I went to the Humane Society of Pasco off of Harmon three times with intentions to adopt a dog…read more Three times I went they were closed and I went several more times and they were still closed even though the sign said they were open, but they were closed. So I happen to just cut through Harmon on my way to Publix and saw they were open. I went inside and I still wanted another dog. They had several dogs that I was interested in and there was a dachshund that was a little bit older, but I was very interested in him because he was a dapple and I love dapples. When I met the dog, it was like we were made for each other. But when I told the people at the counter, I was interested in adopting the dog right then, they told me they would put me on a waiting list because there were six other people in line for this dog. They could have told me this to begin with and not got my hopes up. So once again, I left without a dog. I went back two more times and I strictly told them no Pitbulls and no pitbull mixes and that's all they had but they brought me out and showed me the dogs. They may be very nice people and they care about their animals, but they need to be a little bit more informative, and upfront when people make requests. And they need to open when they're supposed to be open. I ended up getting two miniature dachshunds from a breeder friend and I am very happy with them. One is a dapple and the other is red so I'm extremely happy. But as far as the Humane Society on Harmon, I don't recommend them. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

A year ago, I adopted two little dogs from Poodle and Pooch Rescue (PPR). They are some kind of…read moreterrier/poodle mix - who knows! - and they are adorable. As soon as I saw them I fell in love - the photos online did not do them justice! Every rescue organization is different. Some have high standards... others, not so much. Some are very well organized and are run well.... others, not so much. My experience with PPR has been that they are a high-standards and well-run rescue organization. When they asked if I wouldn't mind fostering a few weeks ago, I said yes because I knew I would be volunteering for a good organization. Rebecca is the president and volunteers herself, and she is always in touch with the vets and fosters. As a foster, any time I have had a question or concern, she replies very quickly. I always know what's going on - she sends updates regularly and communicates very well. It helps that she is positive and encouraging, too! I definitely recommend adopting a pup from Poodle and Pooch Rescue. The adoption fees are on par (or lower!) with other rescues, and you'll have the peace of mind that comes from knowing your beloved pet has been treated with the utmost care from both the high-integrity vets that PPR uses and the loving, responsible volunteers.
