I got new tires here in October and am still experiencing the consequences of this poor decision. Not only did they not replace my valve stems, but they also did not balance the new tires properly. When they replaced the old weights, they slapped new weights on top of the old adhesives. They also did not align the new tires. I purchased the tires through another site, so I would have picked a different installer if I knew what I do now. Go to a dealership instead. read more

Shady business. I went in SPECIFICALLY for the ABS light being on. Why are you fixing a different part, that probably doesn't even need to be fixed, if it isn't going to fix the issue I CAME IN FOR? Appointment times do not matter went into the store on time for a simple patch on a tire and waited close to 3 hours that is all

Took my car to get a tire replaced. I called when the tow truck driver dropped off the vehicle and they said they would go out and get the key. They didn't contact me to tell me the key was missing and after 3 days I called and was told the key was missing for the first time. It has taken more than 10 days to get it replaced without providing a vehicle for me in the meantime and after I followed up with the dealer, the keys would have been delivered and program within a couple days. I appreciate them trying to make this right but what I don't appreciate is being without my vehicle for 10 days only to hear tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Nor providing a vehicle since they lost the key. They've continued to lie and try to blame the tow truck driver, but if the key was missing, they should have contacted me immediately when I called them. They've blamed the delay in dealer, but the dealer says what they've told me isn't true. They've continued to lie, each person tells a different story of the delay. Finally received a call from the main office and yet still continue to blame the tow truck driver. If this is how they treat their customers with no communication and changes in the story, no one should do business with them. read more

Areas to improve: communication with customers, commitment to meeting promises, owning mistakes. I got a flat tire two weeks after it was replaced. I left the key with the car and had it towed. The tow truck driver called when they dropped off the car and confirmed they left the key where it was in the car. Quick call to Dobbs here and they said they have the car and will get the tire replaced. They needed to order a tire so it would take a day or two before they had the tire. After three days of no contact I called Dobbs back to see what the status of the tire was. This was when I found out Dobbs doesn't know where the key is. I was informed that video cameras were reviewed but they were unable to identify what happened to the key. Dobbs here offered to replace the key. I thought this was fair as the key was with the car when dropped off. Dobbs conveyed it would be another two days to get a replacement key. What started as two days for a tire change is now stretching into five. I waited the two days. 4:00PM the second day I had no update about the key or tire so I call them back. The newest information is that they have to have two keys to program to the car. So they ordered another key and it will be in the shop in... two days not counting Sunday. So really another three days. The oversight on their part is annoying. If Dobbs is able to program keys shouldn't they know they need two keys? Why didn't I get a call from them when they did learn this? I wait for the second key to be delivered and again don't receive a call. Again 4:00pm the day they say my car will be ready I call and get another update. This time I'm informed the wrong keys were ordered so they could not be programmed. This was just too much. I'm well over a week now just for a tire change. Additionally I've lost confidence that I will be updated if Dobbs receives new information. I have been taking my cars to Dobbs over 15 years. After these meltdowns in communication and what feels like Dobbs trying to hide their mistakes instead of owning them I don't want to come back. No customer should be misled like this. read more

We got dropped off here after an unfortunate incident on the highway where our lug nuts came off. Originally we were assured the job would be done same day. After that, we were told we had to wait two days to get the rim and tire needed to fix our issue. On the day of said fix, we weren't even given the appropriate services needed and were informed by another auto center in general of this error. They were kind enough to give us a ride to a nearby hotel so we didn't have to walk with all our bags, but that doesn't save how hard they dropped the ball on something so simple, especially in the middle of a road trip. read more

We took our truck here to have the coolant system checked d/t a leak. They found a broken hose under the intake manifold & replaced. Got the truck back and it started to overheat & ended up breaking down on a 4-hour roadtrip. Took it back to Dobb's and was told it was a stuck-closed thermostat and that it would be $800 to replace plus flush & fill the coolant system. Many issues with this- If the coolant system was checked properly during initial inspection, the failing thermostat probably should have been caught. The second issue- no way does it cost $800 to replace the thermostat & flush/fill the system. I called the dealership and they are completing the job for $352. Although Dobb's did find and fix the coolant leak, I do not believe they completed a full inspection of the system as requested. This mistake ended up costing us an additional $1,100 in the form of a blown radiator hose and water pump replacement. Not including being stranded 400 miles from home with two kids, resulting in an extra night at a hotel and missed school and work. read more

Auffenberg had my Mother in Law's 2006 Beetle on their lot for almost a month since they said the part they needed "had to come from Germany and manufactured by the Volkswagen factory." Their systems went down and you can't call and actually 'talk' to anyone over there. The only conversations I've had about her car were when I've had to literally drive over there. It's insane how much smoke they blow. She couldn't turn the key as the key shaft and another part within the steering column needed replacement. I went over to Awfulberg and found out that they 'jimmied' the key shaft just enough to get the car started, which would have been good to know much sooner, but we told them she needed her car or she was going to lose her job, but for a goof, I wanted to take it over to Dobb's nearby. I spoke to Gordon over there and he thought it was rediculous what Awfulberg said. Gordon was able to get the part within a day from another VW dealership, fixed the car the next day and they did in 3 days what Auffenberg couldn't do in 27 days. Came out of the car wash and heard air whooshing out of my tire. Pulled into Dobbs to get it patched quickly before it went flat on me. Wasn't trying to change a tire on the side of the road with a two year old in the car. It was 20 minutes to closing time and I felt bad but I needed it fixed to even make it home. Patrick and the guys up at Dobbs were awesome and stayed a bit late to get me all fixed up. Was trying to get a new set of tires and an alignment done, was unable to do to lack of employees there were a bit behind. I shopped around and found a new set of tires cheaper from various local shops so I did get tires elsewhere. I then returned 2 wks later to have an alignment done because the shop where I got the tires doesn't have the proper equipment for alignments. Well I was able to get my alignment done here at Dobbs. My concern is that it only took less than 15 mins to have done and that's including checking in. I never seen the vehicle once they drove it round back and now I'm wondering if the alignment was properly performed. I left out of state and when we reached 65-70 mph the vehicle started shaking which wasn't a problem prior to taking the vehicle in. The price was higher than another place we considered but Dobbs was closer at the time. I was given a receipt but I wasn't given a Differential printout that showed the before and after specs from the alignment change. So my rating is for the front desk help but leaving so many questions about the actual job performance, pricing and vehicle differential performance info is very low. This alignment wasn't needed but was done more out of a precautionary maintenance for our long drive out of state....now we'll have to get the job done again at a higher fee and who knows what was ruined because of the shaking. Went with my son because he bought a new vehicle. We knew it needed an alignment and that it had a leak so we got the $30.99 inspection to verify. They came back and verified that it needed an alignment but never addressed the leak. In fact, the receipt and work paperwork only addressed the alignment issues and I had to ask about the rest of the inspection. When I pressed for more details on the leak he said that the visual inspection verified it but that unless we had the engine bay pressure washed and returned they wouldn't be able to diagnose it. That seems very fishy to me. On top of that, they wouldn't give us a copy of the report and the counter technician eventually hand wrote a couple things that were obvious on our alignment receipt after I balked about it. We still don't know the full details of the inspection, but I won't go back to find out. Taking my business elsewhere from now on. It isn't the fact that they didn't look at the leak, or even that they didn't offer to put it back on the rack again for a second look. But not giving me an inspection report at all is bad business and shows a total lack of class. UPDATE: I am leaving my original review up because it happened just as I wrote it. But I am upgrading my rating because Dobbs Corporate Office reached out to me and did everything you could ask to make it right. We are getting the inspection we originally asked for but didn't receive, and I am getting it at the location nearest my home instead of Shiloh where we were out and about. I took my truck in for an oil change. Shortly after the store called to tell me I needed new tires, which I knew but wasnt ready to replace right then. He then told me there was a bolt in my left front tire. There was no bolt in it when I dropped it off. When I picked it up I looked at the bolt and saw it was not worn from bring driven on. Not sure how good their service is... went to have a tire mounted on a wheel (17 inch, nothing fancy). Was quoted $40.00 for a "carry in". I thought they were joking and asked "Are you kidding?", to which the person behind the counter laughed and replied "Hey... I don't make the prices... do you want it?". Another employee listening said "Yeah... bring the car in and we'll charge the same AND put it on", and laughed also. On January21 Dobbs "mechanics" performed over $2,000 of work on my Honda Odyssey van. Several days later I was checking the oil and noticed the "mechanic" had failed to replace cowl parts. The oil level on the $65 oil change was at least one-half quart overfilled. I took the van back and showed sales person JBM the missing parts. JBM said he would check with the "mechanic" and get back with me. JBM called later and said the parts would be ordered and arrive in 7 to 10 days. I have heard nothing from Dobbs in over 10 days I googled Dobbs Tire and read review after review of shoddy work and downright fraud. Do the research before going to Dobbs Tire. I had an extremely poor experience previously, but gave Dobbs another chance. I have to praise, the workmanship. I truly believe they fix car issues completely and they do it the first time. They stand behind their work. On the other hand, their customer service, scheduling, and time/workload management is lacking. They make appointments but don't honor the time of those appointments. My wife goes to Dobbs with a leaking tire, and unfortunately I was unable to go with her so they took advantage of her with shady upsell tactics. Only once they had removed her tire did they then refuse to sell her only one new tire- giving her a bunch of crap about the manufacturer requiring all four be changed. Called Ron in the morning and made arrangements to get our car tire looked at. He said he would work it in. Dropped the car off at 11:15 and went next door to Applebees for lunch. 31/2 hours later, Our car had never moved. I called and Ron stated he hadn't been able to get it looked at because all of the scheduled appointments had come in. My son had his clutch repaired at this Dobbs last year. They dropped his transmission to do the repair then didn't tighten everything back correctly. His transmission mount had one bolt work its way out and the other sheared off from the weight. He was on the interstate going to work and could have been hurt. They still charged me for it too, even though the Midas off Rt. 159 took care of their mistake when they were working on replacing the muffler. I'm typically very untrusting when it comes to auto repair shops, a lot of them make up bull to try to rip you off. Dobbs in Shiloh has always seemed reasonable to me, I mean I still take that with a grain of salt because I'm sure I can be subjected to red flags anywhere anytime. It certainly helps my comfort level though. When I picked a nail up in one of my tires that I bought almost two years ago and plugged myself to get me through until I can get my tire replaced, they were able to knock my bill from $200 to about $180. They couldn't use the road hazard warranty because I installed a plug, but they still discounted the price a lot! The tires themselves sell for about $160 each. Learn for next time, try to avoid plugging tires under warranty unless you can't help it. read more

I've used this Dobbs several times for both my vehicles and have been very satisfied. Each visit has been fairly quick, despite the amount of customers, and reasonable pricing. Today I needed to have more work on my Jeep than they could accommodate and the sales clerk was happy he could point me in the direction of some great 4x4 garages. The waiting area is clean but if you don't want to sit around the shop there's a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance to pass some time. Horrible, horrible service!!!!! Run away!!! Far away. They never ever do as they say and once you walk in the door for a "sale" they are having, it quickly goes away and they want to tack on over and over to the bill. They lie constantly!!! Today's horrible service entailed this ... was told the service we were having to our son's car (struts & shocks) would take 2-3 hours. We also were price quoting and they originally told us a price cheaper than another garage ... come to find out they did not quote the same quality and a much lesser quality to get our business. (Didn't find this out until they had started working on the car). So we went out of our way to go get our son's car from his high school and get it here by 11:30 so it would be ready for him after school to be able to drive to his nightly commitments since we were told 2-3 hours. At about 3:30 my husband called to see if it was done and the manager, Ron, got very upset with him for calling and said "I told you I'd call when it was done" like my husband was a child or not intelligent. The manager, RON, began to talk down to my husband repeatedly, treated him horribly, and quite honestly the worst sales service we have ever experienced. It is appalling!!!! We normally take our car to a different Dobbs and because of this horrible treatment and unethical practices, we will never come back to another Dobbs. Unethical ... finally at 7 pm when they finished, which I think they purposely delayed the finish on purpose. I had been sitting there waiting for it since 5:30. After getting in a heated confrontation with the manager about his lack of professionalism and management skills, I go to pay and they added three items we did not agree or tell them to do. I finally got the car out of there after being there for 7 1/2 hours. They charged me $130 for labor when we went there for their "no labor charges in February" sale. One was a service we did not say ok to do so I got charged for the service and labor. Not sure how they get away with this legally. So very unethical and beyond upsetting! I cannot begin to imagine what the owner would say had they seen this manager's actions and treatment to a customer in person. It was completely uncalled for and very, very unprofessional. He is extremely arrogant as well. Such a turn off and horrible people person!!! Extremely nervous they did something bad to my son's car because of the big confrontation my husband got into with the "manager", RON, in charge of the Shiloh location. I've debated about writing this review as for the last couple years I've been a pretty faithful customer of Dobbs. Once you learn the tricks of the place, come in fairly early on Saturday and wait for your car and you will most likely be waiting less than 30 minutes which is not bad in my opinion. It's currently really close to where I live, and I've always had good service from them. A couple years ago the warned me my tires were wearing unevenly which ended up costing me a fortune as I had to get an alignment and 4 new times (dang those 18" rims) but it was something I had not noticed and could have caused a preventable accident. They even had, key word being had, a frequent customer punch card where after 5 oil changes the 6th one was free. However after my latest visit I seriously doubt I will ever be back. Did I receive bad service? No, was rather pleased with the service. Ok, so they were rude? Nope, quite nice actually. Unfortunately the reason I will not be back comes down to the all mighty dollar. When I got the bill for my oil change and it was nearly $50 for the bottom of the barrel (no pun intended) oil, not the fancy and costly synthetic oil that was where I had to draw the line. My auditable gasp must have caught the guy who rang up my bill's attention as he mumbled something about rising costs due to the oil spill in the Gulf. Now, don't get me wrong, I expected that terrible disaster to have an effect on gas and things like oil changes, but when I get no less than 4 ads in my mail a week for a $19.99 basic oil change at competitors, I just can't keep being that faithful customer. I'm sorry Dobbs, it was a good run we had, but in 5K miles when it's time for my next oil change I will be going elsewhere. If it were not for the big price tag for a basic oil change, I would probably give these guys 4 stars as the service is good. read more

So I'm sitting up here at Dobbs Tire in Shiloh getting my tires fixed and the manager is joking around with other employees degrading Mexicans, not realizing that I am Mexican and very proud to be one. He said ALL Mexicans are lazy and illegals and wouldn't want to work with any. When I confronted him, very nicely about it he told me it was an inside "joke". I told him he needed to keep it inside. I am livid right now. I will be calling his boss at corporate. And I will be telling anyone and everyone I know to not come here. Wow. On Saturday my friend dropped off my 2008 Ford Fusion at Dobbs. He explained that I would be giving this car to my sister next week and she would be driving it home to Maryland. It was requested that they check the car out to look for anything of concern with special attention to the brakes which we felt probably need to be replaced due to mileage. Well, that kind of explanation could have been an open invitation for lots of repairs but the integrity and professionalism was amazing. They called to give me an update and left a message. Rather than calling back I stopped by to review what needed to be done. Imagine my happiness when they shared that the only things that were needed were some fluids and a tire adjustment that had caused the tire pressure light to come on.
