No structure, no technical training as we would expect. The teacher wanted her to do a recital and the teacher would play the background music. My daughter was nervous but we built up the courage to do it. After weeks of practicing we all got dressed up and went today. Upon arrival my daughter was told her teacher did not come and she would have no support or background music. My daughter bravely stood up in front of the crowd and sang the song with complete silence / no music, which was quite heartbreaking to watch, than preceded to cry the whole way home embarrassed. To top it off she was not offered the pin that all the other teachers gave there students. I can't recommend this school. The seem more interested in the recurring revenue of tuition than developing individual talents of the students.

My son had started to play the guitar just 6 months earlier and really wanted to be part of a band. His guitar skills improved greatly and expanded his interest into bass guitar and into drums. The 1:1 lessons were fantastic. Their summer camp became a launching pad to get into a band. Since then, he has taken up song writing and now plays different instruments in the band depending on the song or the talent need. They have even performed some of their original songs! She spent about an hour doing the tuning. My only issue is being charged $295 for an hours work. That's right up there with electricians! She switched to flute promptly into her sixth grade year and played until she graduated eighth grade. She then switched to the cello. No issues with switching. She's been playing cello for the last year and decided she wanted to switch to keyboard. We own a keyboard. So, I went in to discuss what our options were for returning our rental and purchasing a violin for our other daughter. The gentlemen at the counter explained how much we had in rental equity, closed my account, and said I had 30 days to decide on an instrument before my equity would be no longer valid. I went in today, a few days before my equity would expire and he told me that I can only use 50% of my equity on another instrument. I asked if I switched the account to a violin could I then purchase it? He told me my account is closed already and there's nothing he can do. So, we rented for four years and just trashed over $1k in rental equity because they will not sell me a student violin using the exactly amount of equity I've built. I spoke to the same person both visits. I am very unhappy with this outcome and will not be recommending Music & Arts to any new student musicians. The whole point of this is to let children play music and figure out what they like or don't like. When a child finds the instrument they like, I would hope the music store we've been loyally renting from would be thrilled to make a purchase happen for said child so they can continue their musical journey. Really, really disappointing.
