That being said, Academy is still a real wonderland, even for the "non-athlete". Lots of lonely fat guy sporting goods here including Kayaks and accessories, geeky stuff, cycling, swimming pool fun and maintenance, gardening boots, or whatever other non-assault-weapon based activities you may be interested in! Here's a tip, Boys love flashlights! If you are an Uncle/Aunt/Grandparent looking for the perfect gift for any male of the species, you cannot go wrong with a flashlight! and Academy has them in Aces! Every number of batteries,blinding lumens, waterproof, crushproof, etc, etc! This is a really fun store to explore. Tons of deep clearance at anytime. Great displays and in store "experiences" (should you need to select the perfect putter whatever that is). Nice and helpful employees, ample stock, ample goodness. Approved!

Manager Daniel Graham Saturday evening did not honor Black Friday discounts in store, stating…read moredespite the sign he will not give their stated "deal". I'm very disappointed that although he acknowledged their sign and stated that there was an error on their part as far as taking this down earlier he failed to make it right after I wasted a substantial amount of time shopping for my very large family. I was publicly shamed by this store manager for asking to have his help and he physically removed the sign and yanked it away from me when I went to point out him what it says. I left our cart full of items and did not make a purchase.

O.K. They have great stuff. But I am going to comment on Customer service only. I went in only to…read morebuy some shoes. Was there a person around? Sure there were, Several Teens hanging in the store on Saturday night in there Hibbett Shirts, Wondering around with nothing to do. With the exception of one who was doing her darndist to sell a 70 year old woman the most "popular" selling Brooks brand shoe. Now what would a 70 year old woman care what is the most popular selling shoe? They are 100 -140 bucks a pair. Come on! Anyway, back to my review. There was a gentleman sitting down at a bench and he saw me standing there looking around for someone to come and help me, he said," Miss, you will have to go up to one of them and get them to come to you or you will be waiting forever." And you know what? He was right.!! I walked up to a kid, asked him to go get me a shoe in a certain size. He said" Uh, ok" and went to get it, gave it to me and disappeared, came back, handed it me and then he disappeared again. Next I finally found a young man who actually wanted to keep his job. He got me what I needed, and he stuck around long enough to make sure that I was happy. And I was. I made my purchases and was on my way. I love the store, but had some terrible service for most of my visit. The store itself is very nice and I really like it. But 1 star for the kiddo's and If I knew the kids name that actually stuck around to help I would give him 5.
