What really helped was processing the registration paperwork online and letting the office already have that information in their system. You just need to printout the preregistration paperwork that they send you afterwards in the email and bring it with you along with proof of residence and of course the title of ownership. After you process your request online, the DMV sends you a text message and you can use that to check in for your appointment or walk-in and use their check-in kiosk. I opted to use my phone and respond through link on the text message. Their system accurately tells you where you are in line and how many people are currently waiting in front of you. Very simple process to follow. I did have to wait 20 min because of the folks that were ahead of me. There was a little wait time but no worries. 5 min to only process the paperwork and immediately get the plates. How quick is that? CA is back in the stone ages and has not done anything whatsoever to improve their processes. DMV is the last last place anyone would want to visit unless it was absolutely necessary but this experience was quite pleasant nonetheless. The lady that helped me was also so friendly. Registration papers take about 3-6 weeks to arrive to your home address. Plenty of parking and seating and nobody was standing around.

It's been several years since I've had to make a trip to the Oregon DMV and I just had my best…read moreexperience ever at the Hillsboro branch They were out of appointments so I had to go in as a walk in and the place was packed when I got here on Thursday at 3pm But, to my pleasant surprise, the host asked me if I wanted to get text updates about my wait. What a great service! So I gave her my phone number and was able to wait outside in the comfort of my own car and enjoy reading my book. Their system sent me a few updates as my spot in line approached. They also provided a link to web page where I could view my wait status. That was nice since I didn't have to worry about losing my place in line while I waited outside I ended up waiting just 20 minutes (they served 11 folks in that time) and got my job done in two minutes. So I had a great experience here and especially appreciate the hard work DMV has done to serve us and minimize the pain of going to the DMV office. Kudos! :)

There is no seating for the mobile impaired to wait for their turn…read more I was refused service at the drive up window because of line inside despite my explaining my disability and I waited longer at the drive thru than all the other people in line inside only to be told that I would not be given service. There is no signage on drive thru stating what services are provided at the drive thru or that the drive thru customers will not be served if there are customers inside. Please add a chair or two so those who cannot stand in long lines can still take care of their vehicle licensing.
