In my entire life, my experience with DMV Pittsburg this morning was the worse as far as customer service is concerned. I came in early in the morning to pay for the registration of my vehicles who were past due for many months. The reason being is that we went to DMV early this year to report a change of address but the employee who helped us didn't do the change of address in our record but instead, probably because of his laziness, he simply told us that we can do it online. In short, going online to register and change our address slipped my mind until my daughter got pulled over and was reminded that the registration was expired. I admit our lapses and I have no excuse but had that employee changed my address when we went there, this could have been avoided in the first place.
But that's not the end of it, the black woman who handled my case this morning was so rude and very unprofessional. Since I came to the US many years ago, African Americans are very close to my heart but this black woman is different. Since I was so in a hurry, I made some error in writing down my license plate so when the lady looked it up in their system, she was getting incorrect information on 2 of my vehicles. Obviously, she got upset but I remained calm and I tried to avoid arguing with her. I told her that I made a mistake so I am just gonna leave and get the right vehicle information from my car or I can go back home and just come back when I get the correct vehicle information but she went off on me again. When I asked her if there's an appeals process, she responded NO in a very rude manner. Keeping my cool, I politely told her that I registered for a DMV account online to change my information and maybe she can get the right vehicle info from there but she yelled at me saying I didn't do anything online. This all happened after she charged my card $ 622 including penalties. Still, she was acting strange and giving me that dagger look and to me, it seems disturbing... this is not normal and I am wondering if this lady was on meth or something and appears to be experiencing withdrawal symptoms. So I told her that I am just gonna leave so I can come back with the correct vehicle information (although I know she can pull up my record with all my vehicle information just by using my drivers license info) but she responded to me in a threatening remark by saying "you cannot leave because you owe us $622. I was alarmed by this black woman's strange attitude so, at this point, I asked to speak to the manager and the manager although apologized to me, you can see in her face that nothing will be done and this is just a day to day normal occurrence in this office so just suck it up- in short, she simply handed me a customer survey form which in essence is useless in this type of state office. I can't believe I am paying state taxes to pay for this a$$ hole, who even if you already apologized to her, she can't help but show her scum of the earth level of mentality and her ghetto upbringing.
See how some employees in this office situated in the midst of a ghetto community reflects the attitude of the neighborhood. This is very sad and the last thing I know was I wrote a letter to my congressman. Whether they act on it or ignore it, I don't care anymore and some people have different experiences and perceptions about this office but I warn the other customers to avoid this DMV office. Go to Walnut Creek or Concord instead, its worth the drive. The employees, as well as the management themselves, created this negative office environment with the worse customer service you can ever imagine. read more
