Getting my new plates and drivers license was a breeze. I was able to get in the same day I made my appointment for my plates. Entire transaction took 15 minutes. Had to schedule a week and a half in advance for my license. Once there everything from taking the written test to getting my temporary license was a piece of cake. Every employee I encountered was helpful and friendly. I was told that my actual license would take 6-8 weeks to be mailed, but I got it in a week. It's good for 8 years, too! The staff is friendly, but management has made the decision to short staff this DMV location. To complicate matters worse and infuriate walk in customers, this DMV has chosen to service all appointment customers before walking. It would be better if only 4 appointments per hour or in 15 minute blocks. Instead an appointment is available every 10 minutes. When I arrived at 1:10, I was the first and only person in the room, save 2 customers being helped at 2 open windows. I sat there and watched 5 customers be helped who came in after me be helped because they had an appointment. Everytime I was next in line, someone with an appt. walked in and I was pushed back. I waited 45 min before I was "fortunate enough" to be helped. I spoke with 3 representatives requesting that they provide feedback to thier managers to rectify this issue. I hope someone clues the management team in on the fact that many of the elderly population in St. George and Hurricane are not very computer literate. It's not like it's easy to get someone to answer the phone to schedule an appointment either. They do have a drive through, but why would I walk back out to go through a drive through when I was the first in line?​ read more

I have to tell you, coming from several large cities and going to the nightmare I had always felt synonymous with DMV, I was utterly surprised and delighted by my 1st and 2nd visit to the Hurricane DMW. Not only was the service quick and efficient, but the employees look you in the eyes and are friendly, kind and helpful, who treat you like a real person like them. I literally was blown away and awed. I had gone 2 hours early, and gave myself a pep talk to not let them get to me, and left literally 15 minutes later, stunned at the delightful service at the DMV in Hurricane! read more

Made an appointment and only had to wait a short time, but was told I needed one more document (my fault). Came back quickly with the document. When I asked if I needed to give my confirmation number again I was told no, and issued a number. By that point nearly ever staff member had gone to lunch. Only two stations were open and there were about twenty people waiting plus about eight taking the paper test. I then waited about an hour and a half until my number was called. The lady at the desk said that I should have been issued a different number since I had an earlier appointment, and should never have had to wait so long. I will say that the staff were friendly and courteous, but it seems that at least one member needs further training. In addition, there were no sanitizing wipes for the eye test machines that we had to press our faces against. Since Covid is again on the rise, this is a major deficit. Even without Covid it's unsanitary. . Last suggestion is that they stagger lunch breaks. Having so many staff members disappear at once is a big problem read more

Coming from another state, the process of obtaining a new license was unfamiliar and it would have been nice to receive some help and even a smile and a "how are you today?" This review is not specific to this location alone, although it is included. Last summer I went through hell getting my 18 year old his license in UT, when he had done part of his driver's education out of state and part of it in UT. Because of Covid and crazy hours, we dealt with DLD in 4 cities over 3 months and it was absurd how not all offices use the same requirements/standards. I noticed then that different people use different standards for requirements. It was literal hell. And the driving schools don't have a shot of giving accurate info. I postponed dealing with it for myself because it was so ridiculous. Today I dealt with car registration and dld. It was my second attempt at registering my new car, purchased out of state and once again it was a case of adding more requirements when I brought in everything today that they asked me to bring last time. At the dld today I had every bit of information listed on the website to bring to get my UT license. Wasn't good enough. I was instructed to go to the library and print out more docs. Brought docs back that were exactly the ones I was instructed to bring and a different person working said they still weren't good enough, they wanted more. The ladies also disagreed on the cutoff time to take my test to get the license. Between my son and I ... it's like they get paid for how many trips they cause you to make instead of just following the instructions outlined on their website. Every location is different and every person working in the location makes up their own rules. Dealing with government bureaucracies in UT is absurd. So just plan on it taking multiple trips to get your license and registration issues dealt with when you move to Utah. Because they make the rules up as they go. Good luck. I went into get license changed from other state. They went ahead and had me fill out paperwork and do picture. I sat at in waiting are for over an hour before I was told they wanted passport birth certificate social security and proof of residency. This is something they should let you know when giving form to fill out. Plus machine was down to take test. Not happy with the communication and wasting my time. I am being generous at 2 stars. read more

I did not like that they moved the DMV far from the city. I have gone for my license renew , help my neighbor get a handicap card, and my child got a permit. For the renewal and permit I made an appointment online and was in and out in under 30 minutes while I saw many people still waiting. The online appointments were easy to get a day ahead of time. The handicap card did not have an appointment, but since they knew my neighbor just had surgery and was ill , they had one window that services disabled customers and it was quick, under 10 minutes. Compared to when I lived in SLC area and the DMV was closer in location, this one is quicker even with the drive. Just make an appointment read more

Really not as bad as the stereotypical DMV. I've had to go in there several times this year for my license renewal (forgot paperwork and came back after waiting in line) and for daughters testing and final license. Each time there were a lot of people, but they are pretty efficient and my wait was only 4-5 minutes even on the busy days. Friendly too. Never thought I would be reviewing the DMV or even saying good things about them because we all bag on them as the epitome of slowness - hence the sloths on Zootopia movie. My wife called to make an appointment to pick up her plates and was told to go through the drive through and that she didn't need an appointment. When she arrived the man working the drive through was very rude and unprofessional. He told her to make an appointment and come back the next day. My wife told him what she was told on the phone and his response was "well he doesn't work here now does he." My wife's temporary tags expired the next day and she needed her plates. She informed the man of this and he slammed his hands on the desk, stood up and left. He came back and told her to come inside. When she went inside she overheard him talking about her and how "she doesn't know how any of this works and failed to make an appointment." She was than met with a lady who was also very rude and told her she has to make an appointment than gave her a business card with the website. My wife informed her that she was told over the phone to come in without an appointment since she was just picking up her plates. The manager lady said that the people on the phone have "never worked there a day in their life." So obviously there is a huge communication problem with them and the call center. My wife is pregnant and a little emotional and did not deserve to be treated this way when she was only doing what she was told to do on the phone. read more
