This is a fairly decently sized visitor center that contains a lot of information about the geology and archeology of the area. There are also a lot of pamphlets about attractions in the area. When I visited, the officer was trying to handle planning an entire week's trip for things to do for someone who apparently did zero planning into the area. Seriously. She didn't know that The Wave needed permits and was upset she couldn't visit on a whim (and without proper hiking tools). She also did not have a high clearance, 4WD/AWD vehicle. So, a lot a cool things to do were closed off to her out of safety. The ranger was very kind and patient through all of it though. I finally got my quick question answered after. I really liked how close everything was. You have the shuttle stops nearby, restaurants, little shops, places to grab coffee or ice cream, and of course those beautiful Zion views all around you! Even just driving into Springdale felt special because the scenery is already so pretty before you even get into the park! Since we were only there for one night, I appreciated how convenient it was. We were able to settle in, explore Zion, do some of the easier trails, grab food, and still feel like we got a really good taste of the area! Springdale has such a nice, relaxed feel to it. It's touristy, of course, but in a charming way. After coming from Vegas, it felt like a totally different pace, quieter, scenic, and just really peaceful! I really enjoyed staying in Springdale. It made our Zion trip simple, beautiful, and memorable. For a first overnight visit from Las Vegas, it was the perfect and I'd absolutely come back again. I want to try some of the more difficult trails at Zion!

We stopped here not expecting much, and it ended up being one of the most unique spots of the trip. This place dates back to the 1860s and was settled by pioneers trying to farm along the Virgin River. Between floods, isolation, and tough conditions, the town was eventually abandoned--but what's left behind is seriously cool. Unlike a lot of ghost towns, Grafton actually has several well-preserved buildings, including an old schoolhouse, homes, and even a cemetery. Walking through it feels quiet... almost too quiet. It's the kind of place where you can actually picture what life was like back then. And the setting? Unreal. You've got massive red rock cliffs from Zion in the background, which makes it feel way more cinematic than your average historical stop. It's no surprise this place has been used in movies. There's no entry fee, no crowds (usually), and no over-the-top tourist setup--just raw history and insane scenery. If you're already visiting Zion, skipping Grafton would honestly be a mistake. It's much cleaner and well-maintained than I remembered. I think the LDS church owns the property now and is doing some renovations on the buildings. You can walk through most of the buildings as well as the grounds around them. It's a neat stop and worth taking the time to be in the space and energy of some of Utah's history.

They have a great reading selection but also so many prizes and crafts! The best part though is how kind and attentive the librarians are. They know my kids names, say hi and smile, have great book recommendations and don't get annoyed when kids are kids. Love it here and feel so blessed that this is our local library!

It's hard to experience the entire scenic drive from your own private vehicle while the shuttle is…read morerunning, as the end portion is bus-only to ensure that the whole park doesn't turn into a parking lot. If you stay at the Zion National Park Lodge, you can drive down a little further after entering a gate code, but you can't proceed down past the lodge. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the drive to its fullest, I would recommend biking in (unless you want to walk the entire length). My opinion is that the shuttle has enough stops to let you off at, and that the park is so scenic, that taking the shuttle will take you 99% of the way there for the full experience of the drive. This is a great way to experience Zion if you have mobility issues or don't want to hike.
