Captain Kevin was competent and professional; I enjoyed talking with him briefly after the flight. I did have issues with matters on the ground. My reservation was for 2:00 in the afternoon, but that wasn't going to happen per a phone conversation with the staff. Although it isn't clear on the website, an aircraft apparently must be at capacity to make the trip, which meant I needed to join others on an earlier, 10:00 morning flight. I opted to do this, although I had to forgo a planned breakfast to arrive on time. I needn't have hurried. I was told after arriving (hungry) that the other passengers wouldn't be arriving until nearly 11:00, this due to a miscalculation involving the daylight time difference between Arizona and Utah. I was offered compensation: A "photo package," which I thought would be a nice memento of the experience, something to help erase the sourness I was increasingly feeling. But no photos were taken, no words of explanation given. I left disappointed.

This is a fairly decently sized visitor center that contains a lot of information about the geology and archeology of the area. There are also a lot of pamphlets about attractions in the area. When I visited, the officer was trying to handle planning an entire week's trip for things to do for someone who apparently did zero planning into the area. Seriously. She didn't know that The Wave needed permits and was upset she couldn't visit on a whim (and without proper hiking tools). She also did not have a high clearance, 4WD/AWD vehicle. So, a lot a cool things to do were closed off to her out of safety. The ranger was very kind and patient through all of it though. I finally got my quick question answered after. The exhibits were good to look at and quite informational.

Upon arrival we had to wait a few minutes longer than start time, but it was because agent ensured we were able to tour without any other group issues! We had John T as our driver and this was one of the best tours we have had in a very long time! We laughed so hard, we literally cried. He was knowledgeable and funny and accommodating, and we would recommend this tour and John T to anyone even thinking about it. In terms of difficulty, there were moments that were a little harrowing, but we were definitely at ease with our driver. The views and experience more than make up for it though! Please do yourself a favor and utilize this company and ask for John T. Because we booked more than one tour with them, they even accommodated a deal for us on our next tour! The gift shop has a variety of items-some of them made locally and others made in China. It's a strange mix. He was extremely knowledgeable, experienced in all aspects of canyoneering. He was patient and really was able to instruct us on using the ropes and how to maneuver over obstacles safely. We wanted to do something memorable during our trip to Zion and decided to go with Red Desert after our research online. Booking was easy, we were able to get same day reservation on the July 4th weekend. Our guide, Eric was amazing. He was calm, patient and pushed us just the right amount outside our comfort level for us to come back with great memories from the trip. Our kids, ages 9 and 11 did great. For one of the sheer drops, he did a tandem for our younger one. This was a private tour, the equipment felt clean and we felt safe and informed throughout our adventure. Can't recommend enough!
