I know the DMV is a busy place to work and patience can run low, but the experience I had here was terrible. I would give this place 0 stars, but I can't. I came with my dad to help him renew his driver's license. We were called to booth 7. There were 2 men to our left at booth 8. They didn't seem to speak English and the woman helping them was not helpful at all. In fact, she was rude and very condescending. She shouted things like, "Why are you even here if you don't speak English?" and "Oh my god. You should at least know the basics like where to sign your name." The 2 men discussed with each other in Vietnamese and she told one of them to go sit down because it's confusing the other man. Like what the heck? I felt bad for these 2 men because it seemed like they just came to the United States and I was really angry at the woman helping them. Rather than trying to be a bit more patient and point them to the right places on the paper to fill out, she fruitlessly spoke to them in English. Like hello mam? If the man already doesn't speak English, what good do you think your yelling in English would do? Also, she didn't even ask for a translator to come. Even worst, she and the woman who was supposed to help me out at booth 7 started laughing and speaking to each other in such condescending manner, it disgusted me. I wonder how well this woman would do if she spoke zero Vietnamese and I'm speaking to her in Vietnamese, shouting at her while pointing randomly to the paper to fill out. I offered to help the 2 men since I speak Vietnamese, but their translator came and said they are okay. However, their translator's English wasn't so good himself. The woman finally called an employee translator and while the translator was giving instructions in Vietnamese like telling them to read the alphabets on paper A, line 1, the woman was speaking to them in English saying paper A, line 3. I'm like wow, can you shut up? You are already not helpful, condescending, and now trying to confuse them even more. She finally laughed a bit and said she'll just be quiet and let the employee translator handle it. Meanwhile, I had some issues with the woman helping me and my dad. This woman gave instructions for my dad to do the eye exam like telling him to cover a certain eye and reading the alphabets on certain lines. I translated the instructions for my dad, but let him read the alphabets by himself. She told me to stop talking to my dad. I calmly told her that I am not giving him the answers, but only translating to him the instructions because he does not understand English well. All of a sudden she got upset and told me to go sit down and leave my dad alone. I asked her, "why do I need to sit down? He is my father and I am here to translate for him." Literally, seeing the way these workers condescendingly treat non-English speakers makes me more willingly to stay with my dad for the entire duration. I can already imagine that had I sat down, they would've treated him the same way in which they treated the 2 men next to us. I refused to sit down and she told me not to argue with her. Excuse me? I was not arguing. In fact she was the one trying to argue with me. She got upset because she knows she's wrong. At this point, I pulled out my phone in preparation to record in case she starts saying stupid, possibly racist stuff and she yelled at me to not point my phone at her. Lady, first you can't make me sit down when all I'm doing is helping my dad and second, you can't make me put my phone away. I snapped a picture of her (attached to this review) and my dad told me to just let it go and finish the paperwork. I quiet down and let her proceed. She asked for my dad's phone number in which I turned to my dad and asked. She then goes, "wow, you should really know your dad's number," I told her it's my business and none of hers. Her reply, "wow you must be mad at the world today, or is it just me?" was not professional at all. These ladies really need some training in proper customer service. read more
