Shocked at how quickly I was in and out of here with no problems. Went on a Monday morning at 9 o'clock and I was expecting to definitely be there a lot longer than an hour. Overall great experience. read more

Horrible horrible horrible do yourself a favor and go to another location all I needed was my picture taken and I was made to wait with everyone else that had issues and problems took hrs just for a picture wtf ! read more

This is by far the worst DMV they are always short staffed. Always take 3+ hours to even have your number called. Really needs to improvement such a poorly run establishment!!! read more

Phone number online is not correct so you can't make an appointment. Inefficient where there are empty seats and one person checking you in. People smoking in line which is great for those with health problems. If this was a business that ran on customer satisfaction it would not be in business...maybe it should be like healthcare where patient satisfaction dictates reimbursement. read more

Ah, the DMV. So many compliments about things that can and can't be helped. I, for one, did my research before heading over to this little hole in the wall (like all DMV's) and didn't have a lick of trouble with my paperwork. Other then the camera being down statewide. Which kinda sucked because I was renewing my licenses, but they kindly informed me that I could do part of what I needed to do, and then I could come back later, or another day to get my photo taken. Mrs. Underwood was even nice enough to give me the DMV number to call and ask if the camera was back up or not. I came in a little after 1pm, and I was just before a rush. If you really do your research on what you need before you go in, it's actually painless. read more

I experienced rude and unprofessional customer service from an employee there. I asked her a question and she told to me to hold on, so she could speak to a delivery service for her lunch. I have waited an hour in the line and should be professional customer service one I reach the counter. read more

While I understand it's the DMV and these workers have to handle a lot of difficult people who don't have the correct paperwork, the employees have zero sense of customer service or urgency. I do appreciate they check your paperwork before giving you a number, but there is ONE person checking. I stood in line on a Saturday morning at 8:30am for 1 and 1/2 hours (for 45mins I stood outside, bc they only allow so many inside) as this lady took a bathroom break, drank her water, chatted with co workers. Cant they have workers cover her breaks or two people up front? I waited 2 and a half hours and then the DMV in SC was offline so I was told I had to leave and just wait all over again next time. The second time I went on a Friday morning at 7:30am and again a different checker just chatted with an employee for 10mins before walking back to the post to hand out numbers. I was so upset that people are just expected to take this because we all need the DMV. Then the lady helping me at window just started chatting with her neighbor co-worker and apparently that was my que to leave. I had to ask if we were finished. Terrible experiences here! read more

Miss Barbara and the whole staff were friendly and helpful!! Best DMV experience ever! Thank you for being so nice and helpful! Keep up your good work. Give them all a raise! read more

I also would give this zero stars. Choose another another location - I was there all day and it was one of the most painful experiences to stand and watch people work at a snail's pace - really horrible! I was there getting a new state license and they let everyone and anyone getting a renewal go ahead. There was probably 70 people (at least) go ahead of us. It was the slowest, longest process ever. Do yourself a favor and pick any other DMV! read more

Terrible terrible! Ive been to my share of DMV's and this one is by far the worst. They get the one star because the lady who "checked" us in was quick but after that, the service was painfully slow even though there were only 2 people ahead of us. The employees were taking their sweet time doing who knows what... NOT WORK! Incredibly unprofessional, stoic, just lazy. When I asked a simple question about a document for my NC license, they were unhelpful and rude. Im seriously baffled by their lack of productively and poor work ethics. Just avoid this place if at all possible! read more

This probably the worse dmv I ever visited. I went on Saturday at 7AM to transfer my Texas license to NC and waited until 11:30 AM then they called me and told me that TEXAS is down and they cannot transfer it that day and asked me to come on another day and I went back on Monday with the slip she gave on Saturday and they again asked me to come back on Tuesday as they don't have anyone to assist me. Then I again went back on Tuesday but then they just dishonored the slip that she gave and asked me leave. This is really frustrating! staff is really bad. They don't even care no matter how good you are with them read more

The worst service. I thought usa is developed country but after you experience this DMV you will feel like you living in so third world country. More than 80 people waiting in line and their employees talking over their personal phones and texting. On yelp not providing option of negative stars otherwise i will gonna choose that. They have nearly 8 counter but only three are open with more than 80 people waiting in line. I will suggest everyone to go other DMV even if its 1 hours away. Because that will worth. read more

Today my husband and I arrived at the DMV in Monroe to get the new driver's license for both of us. We got there at 9:30 for a 10:30 appointment and all the employees were super friendly and treated us with respect. They were a lot of fun and seemed to enjoy us. We are senior citizens. We were out of there by 10:00. They took us an hour early; we were prepared and had the proper documentation, and never had to sit with the crowd who didn't have appointments.Congratulations, employees! read more

I'm sorry but whoever in these reviews try to say anything nice about this place is being way too passive and generous. I have NEVER had to deal with a DMV so absurd as I had to with this one. The issue with COVID-19 and having limited staffing is completely understandable; trust me. I work at a bank.. I AM limited staffing at the moment. BUT, to hear the guard say that the wait time is 1-3 hours and then say those without appointments may not even get seen -which was said to us after already waiting an hour and a half- is completely ridiculous. You have three people working inside. I get it, it's obviously not very many to deal with the amount of people trying to get in. The guard stated that those who made appointments have to be seen first, which makes sense, but it's clear that there is NO organization to this place. You can easily have 2 of the 3 emplyess take those who have appointments. There was already a line forming for them as well; just get them in and out. But there is absolutely NO reason why the third person can't be helping take care of those waiting who didn't have the chance to make an appointment. Now, if for some idiotic reason that's not an option, THEN DO NOT TAKE WALK INS!!! Be clear about that! It took an hour and a half to find out that we may not even be seen... WHY?? Why did it take that long for someone to come out and say something?? If wait time is a huge issue at the moment, and from what I've heard has ALWAYS been an issue at this location, then strictly do appointments only and don't have people stand out there wasting their time!!! Especially in the cold!! read more

If you are ever going to visit to this DMV office in Charlotte. I would consider another DMV office. What you heard from the reviews of other people are highly true. They should employ new employees, because the employees there... Don't get me started. Just rude. (Go to another DMV office) read more

Worst dmv in all of NC. Don't expect to get out in less than 4 hours. Next time I will drive 1 hour to go to another location.

Absolutely do not EVER go to this dmv. If you want to be talked to like you are an absolute moron, then this is the place for you. I understand it's a dead end government job, but that doesn't give you the right to treat people like crap. Completely furious and dissatisfied with my experience. I will drive the extra couple of minutes to go to a different one next time read more

Well let me start by saying i got to this DMV at 7 (when they opened) and still waited 2 hours to get in. Once I did I had to wait another 15 min because people that had already been through were coming back up and asking questions. Backstory- Just moved to charlotte from NY lost my I.D from NY need Charlotte I.D. get up to the lady showed her all my documents (which online says you only need a proof of identification-had passport) and turns out I need a license. Okay. ordered a NY license online showed temporary got my ticket. Now i'm sitting to get called and mind you this has now taken 2 hours to get called...I finally get up there and of course they won't take a temporary license. I asked the guy what the difference he had no answer and just looked at me blankly. Why did I get a ticket and sit there for three hours for you to tell me the temporary wont work. Overall horrible experience. The people working here do not care or help you in the slightest, they also move at the slowest possible rate because they don't care. read more

The wait was long but it wasn't bad. All employees were pleasant, in particular the lady at the front. Can't really complain. Please make sure to have cash or a check ready, I think most folks didn't and this made the wait longer. read more

After reading the reviews I was not expecting a pleasant experience. I was totally surprised that once there everyone was very friendly and helpful. I dealt with Cathey and Loretta and have to say that they were extremely nice and helpful as well as the rest of the staff. read more

This is by all means "The absolute worse DMV" ever! Arrived at 10:30 and left at 3:00!!! There are 9 windows and 3 workers!! It seemed as if they would call a number ever 20 minutes! As if matters could get worse they all went to lunch at the same time! It had to be at least 50-60 people were in here waiting! We must complain in order to see a change, this is absolutely ridiculous!! read more

If you want to waste your entire day, then go here. Short staffed and skipped around numbers. Waited for 7 hours just to get a new license. This place is a complete joke. read more

Horrible customer service. They are more concern about closing hours than providing service to people. I was inside waiting in line and finally got up to the service desk only to be told that they close in one hour and I would not be able to get my ID card. I can back the next day (Saturday) at 8:00 a.m. there was a long line outside the door. When I finally got to the door at 10:00 a.m.I was told they were not letting in anymore people because they close at 12:00 noon. They are very slow in processing transactions and not very friendly. read more

Quick in and out, even with them having computer trouble. The staff was extremely professional, and even though I did not have to take the driver's exam I saw several people leave with the examiners. The examiners even tried their best to make certain that the test takers were relaxed, by making silly jokes with them. The best experience that I have ever had at the DMV. read more

This is a TERRIBLE DMV that I will never return too. My son was failed on his driving test for not stopping at a stop light when the DMV worker never allowed him to even get on Hwy 74. We got there at 7:00 on a Saturday to wait and when the DMV worker that failed him was walking in she said to my son, "what are you here for" and he responded he was getting his license, her response was a rude grunt followed by "well". This is a office that is ran not on the abilities of your driving, but more on the attitude and happiness of the examiner you receive. read more

i am not the one to put bad reviews on anyone nor take time out of my day to do it. i am not from this location. i live an hour and a half away from them but i was in charlotte due to my brother getting sworn into the Army. you have to have your ID to get in the government building and i was not aware of that so i had to go to a dmv, this one was unfortunately the closest one. we got here and walked inside & was greeted with "y'all can't block the door so you're gonna have to stand outside." i've never been somewhere where they make you stand outside because they don't have room or didn't want to make time to make the room. the wind was blowing and it was 30 some degrees outside so you can only imagine. the gentlemen who told us to go outside was out of the way rude. they were busy but that doesn't mean you treat people the way he treated everyone. after almost 2 hours i finally got a duplicate license. shortly after there was a lady who had a baby in a rocker and had to stand outside also in 30 degree weather! that's crazy! i can't believe this place is still running. read more

I have been 3 times now for road test 3 weeks in a row with different officers and yet to get a license!!!! The first one I would own it on me as there was a stop sign violation, the last two didn't have any violations. I would say only needed improvements that would mature with driving and time. The second one failed because my back tire just hit the edge of the curb during the turn. The third one was so funny. I was failed for not having my both hands on the steering instead one hand was on my laps while waiting for the signal. Another reason was that I tired to do turns without waiting for the instructor. Not sure what they expect from a person who has been driving the same route including practise sessions to be other than being proactive, especially when you know only a left/right turn is possible. I mean I personally felt the officers are too picky. I bet nobody can pass if they pick every single thing. I may not be an expert driver but they forget the fact that thousands of accidents are still happening potentially some who were out from the same DMV. Not sure what they are trying to establish here. To me it looks like they decide to fail someone and looks out for reasons to justify it. I don't want to go back again :-(:-(:-( read more
